Both begin in the same atmosphere, the fantasy-medieval world, and head toward a bit sci-fi as the series progresses. The art is somewhat similar and the fights between the characters are also very well drawn. Even though Utawarerumono is packed with girls (a bit of a harem there), it clearly shares the same genre as Scrapped Princess. Fantasy, magic, action and awesome battles, you'll find all in both Utawarerumono and Scrapped Princess.
Both anime set in a fantasy world with medieval environment.
The world of the Utawarerumono is asian style, and the world of Scrapped Princess is european style.
One of genre of these is sci-fi, what you realize in the final episodes of the animes.
In Uta there are a lot of battle in one country, and the main characters has a home. In Scrapped Princess, the main characters are travel in the world.
Both anime are exciting.
If you've already seen Scrapped Princess, please ignore this rec since Utawarerumono tells the same basic story in a much poorer manner. Likewise, if you've only seen Uta, check out Scrapped Princess for a dramatically improved viewing experience.
