Can't tell you how glad I am to meet another human who actually liked both Gundam ZZ and Macross 7, despite being able to see the shows for what they are (to put it mildly...)
Outside of it being a new mecha show, nah. I'm good. Fucking around here and there. I haven't watched much anime as of late and I'm trying to check out some mecha shit I'm haven't watched yet, hence Darling watching. Give me recs.
Delta is better than F so far? Thought the Messer subplot was messy and predictable. Something about this shit makes me not care at all about what's happening, something I can't quite perceive at the moment.
A lot of people don't appreciate it. Shit, it's no masterpiece, but I've watched it probably four times already. It's the best Gundam movie we'll get outside the trilogy. Did you hate Quess and Hathaway?
Puru isn't a cyber newtype. I'm definitely not saying she's the reason why the show got better, it just happens to coincide with her appearance.
A lighter tone can be good, that's not something I disagree with. The thing about it is, ZZ is terribly unfunny and its characters terribly unlikable (did you laugh when Beecha and Mondo tried to murder Judau to become the main characters?). That may be true, but that really doesn't say much - I never found the adventures outside the Argama interesting because of the world building? I can't think of a single point of interest.
As for me, I like both works equally and each have their own charms. I do admit some of the episodes of the TV anime were not consistent as far as the animation direction goes. Also, I praise the movie for not giving Kaifun that much focus as he did in the TV series. He was quite irritating in the series and made things difficult, but in the movie with his limited role he's at least a tolerable presence. At times I felt the last 1/3 of the series dragged out the Minmay-Hikaru-Misa love triangle longer than it needed to be and it made it feel that Hikaru was being indecisive. Also, in some ways I felt Hikaru in the series was being a jerk to Misa. I liked his character better in the movie.
I wouldn't say that DRYL is soulless, especially with that beautiful song "Ai Oboete Imasuka" that Minmay sang at the climax of the movie and that song is one of my most favorite songs by Minmay, I loved the sequence in the movie that was just between Hikaru and Misa in their private interaction when they were stranded together, also the warm smiles that Misa and Minmay gave one another as they looked at each other in the end was a beautiful scene.
However, I do feel the series did better in terms of Minmay's character portrayal in presenting the stages of her life before she became an idol and the ups and downs she had after she became an idol, also Roy's death was more emotional in the series.
I can understand getting nostalgic for Zeta. While watching it, I realized I loved me some mecha (and Gundam). Isn't it your favorite Gundam?
What was decent about ZZ? I really can't understand how someone can like the show while actively thinking at the same time, and I can understand ramming your head into a solid surface until it caves in. Weird how you cite the Earth arc as a low point when many people do the opposite. I would definitely say it got steadily better after Puru was introduced, and the ending isn't my cup of tea once I think about it.

Turn A is the correct answer.

Turn A or Dijeh? Is that a serious question?
