The term ‘Overpowered’ simply cannot be expressed enough time and time again. There is no better feeling than putting oneself in the public spotlight to be look down upon by a superior being only for that food chain to be turned around and giving the hunter a taste of its own medicine. ‘Kakegurui’ hammers in an environment where power and position are determined by a person’s sheer will to control fate which in turn excludes fair play in an unwritten rule. The storyline and character development paves well with its gender inequality as can be seen by a lack of male characters at top positions but  read more

Similarly crazy gambling, but the mc is more competent. The first episode feels like it could be a tribute to Kaiji, definitely some similarities.

Similar settings and "action": Hierarchy school setting where you need to outsmart your opponent to win. Both are very good anime and I would recommend both of them.
report Recommended by Zryn
There is stakes competition against school establishments in both, complete with over the top character reactions that make both very enjoyable.

Viewers can quickly notice the similarity of art styles from both shows - exaggerated facial expressions, 3DCG for stuffs that aren't characters. Both also involve games with high stakes.

Kakegurui is best described as the 'Gambling School' equivalent to Prison School. Femdom over the top absurdity with similar, liptastic art styles. Entertaining if you can forgive mostly self-aware silliness. Unfortunately tits & arse perversion are largely replaced by orgasmic-ahegho faces in Kakegurui, but heyho: tights do it for me. And that ending animation.

- High school students participating in well-known games, but in a dangerous way with psychological pressure and strategies. - Both animes have an administration for these games to happen, they watch everything. - Both have torture and situations where the body of some character suffers some kind of aggression ps: Tomodachi game is somewhat similar to Squid Game/ Round 6, if anyone liked the series

Basically Yumeko Jabami can come across as a female version of Light Yagami, since the two share a rather . . . shall we say . . . twisted look on their faces.

Simply put both anime are about mind games. the main character is some kind of genius who knows how to manipulate his opponents.
report Recommended by Woks
Both animes are about 2 or more people trying to get in each others minds, fighting mentally and using their intellect to win over the opponent

The same wicked plot where people get themselves into situations where losing is not an option if one is incapable of facing the consequences.

Only two episodes of Kakegurui have been released but there are some obvious simulaties between the two shows. And I am actually stoked about the fact there there is another anime about gambling! In both anime's it seems like outsmarting people in the games they play and how they do it is really important. It seems Kakegurui's pace is a lot faster, since its one game per episode atleaased for now. If I had to explain Kakegurui it would probably be the story of GBK merged with the style and pase of death parada.

Same Dark-thone-highschool life. I'd say Kakegurui is a mix of Danganronpa and No Game No Life

The overall execution and environment did not feel similar since Great Pretender was more of an adventure-type anime but the underlying concept was similar. Kakegurui is about gambling and "luck", with an insanely smart protagonist who is good at their craft. They are put through many insane and wild gambles. Great Pretender is about inanely good con artists. They are good at their craft and are also put through many crazy situations and big cons, tricking millions from the corrupt big shots. Each scenario from both shows are set up like acts, a bit like a mini-stories or mini-arcs, though I would say Great Pretender's acts are more  read more

Both feature different games that involve punishments for the loser. Yugioh Season 0 is less gruesome, but both have a high tense atmosphere.

Starting off, these anime only share similar personalities/backgrounds. I find their cast and main lead to be pretty different. Just something to think about 1) Both anime are focused on school based games IE random games in Liar and gambling games in Kakegkurui 2) The better each participant does in each game determines where they stand in the school. Kakegkurui has money where Liar has stars 3) Both animes have our MC's trying to figure out their opponents plans and how to foil them, but they go about it in different manners.

OP female MC enters a new school and challenges the students, one by one, making her way up the student council; Kakegurui's conflicts are based on gambling and mind games, whereas Kill la Kill's conflicts are based on fighting and determination, and also outwitting the opponent.

Both involve people being incredibly extra with over the top animation. Both are a cheesy 80s B movie and they own it.
report Recommended by speedlemon
It's absolutely not same as genre or story or etc, but you will find one thing. The MC is crazy af. Yandere, yeah that's it. If Kakegurui means "let's gamble like crazy", then this anime means "let's war like crazy".

Waifus bet everything on the line, even themselves to win competitions and challenges

Both shiki and kakegurui had certain parts that were filled with so much tension that sent chills down my spine but at the same time made me think just how beautifully thought out the pieces were. I really recommend shiki to anyone who likes tension, dramatic scenes and a bunch of cliffhangers so you'll have to finish it in one night (halloween eve would be the best option!)

- Female protagonists - Bizarre cast of psychopathic characters - Focus on playing "games" to reach the top "level": for Angels of Death it's escaping the building while for Kakegurui it's taking over the school. - Similar themes of morality, contemplation of mental stability, etc. - Personally I prefer Kakegurui since it also has fantastic animation, music, and a much more enjoyable cast to follow! Also has a season 2 in case you're enjoying it and looking for more content.

Both shows feature exaggerated facial expressions as a main part of their comedy and weird voice acting that fleshes out the character's strengths (Hina Kino with Hanako, Saori Hayami with Yumeko).

Both shows have mc that takes pleasure in being in a risky situation Both shows have genius main characters

I believe both series have a perfect thrilling psychological side behind them. Both are really exciting and I think that if you enjoyed Kakegurui, you can enjoy Boku dake ga inai machi as well.
report Recommended by K4meko
This recommendation is based on how both series portray school and student life in an anime. Their school segregates their student population in a hierarchy of haves and have nots. Power comes from winning at gambling in Kakegurui whereas power comes from magical abilities in The Irregular at Magic High School. The main character disrupts this dynamic. Recommended for people who are looking for non-traditional school anime.

The two series could be described as fantasy on crack, which is a good thing given the overlap of also being fantasy pieces in the crackfic genre, but when these two series push the boundaries, they end up pushing them in just the right way. It's also not limited to the out there plotlines, and wacky characters, but also the artistic styles and plotlines that are likely to stick with the viewer because of how unique they are.

Both of these fantastic anime relate to psychology and shows fantastic character development, especially in Tokyo Ghoul. Both do deal with relationships, with Tokyo Ghoul focusing more on what constitutes as a friend, while Kakegurui emphasises the different forms a relationship can take. However, these two animes have major differences. Firstly, Tokyo Ghoul is much more unrealistic than Kakegurui as it contains supernatural elements. It is also a more action-oriented anime, whereas Kakegurui deals with human nature and relationships more. Kakegurui also has 2 MCs; one which is the instigator of almost all the events and one who is more dragged into the situation. Tokyo Ghoul focuses  read more

They both involve gambling. C is more philosophical, Kakegurui is more oriented on the gaming strategy aspect. Kakegurui is lighter, if you will.

Say... It is the darkest version of this anime. The school in kakegurui is the total world... And there is only one game .. gambling... And the charecters are dark

Beastars is like Kakegurui because it’s amazing psychological parts, unexpected conclusion, high risks, amazing antagonists and amazing cast

The intro to both these animes are very similar and have a really cool art style as well as a jazzy kind of song. Both animes also have great stories with cool characters. Although the stories are totally different I believe people who enjoy one of these animes will enjoy the other.

What is similar? BRUH, the only thing that's not similar is how good these two got at gambling. Yumeko Jabami is a freakin beast from the start! Tetsuya was pretty good, but had to be taught the essence of 'true' gambling. Both involve a lot of high stakes and both make sure that if you lose then you're going to suffer for it.
report Recommended by KyuubiGoku1
In both anime, the main female character is extremely sharp and unbeatable. They can win in any situation. Both of them have this amazing unpredictable aura to them. They are sharp and know what they're getting themselves into. They want to spice their lives up. Both anime are very sexual and contains gore. In both anime, the female lead protects the male lead. The female leads in both anime are badass.

Has a school hierarchy that everyone has to play up to or suffer the consequences. Differences being; - Kakegurui is revolved around gambling - Baka and Test revolves around having good grades to increase a person's social standing. However Baka and Test is far more of a comedy.

I'd recomend all the jojo's that have come out but i guess with one it's enough The whole setting, the drama, the questions arising on how the hell is everything happenning and exposition at the end reminds me a whole lot about jojo and it's because it's not exciting watching them win or knowing they will win It's H O W they manage to win.

Two things, hot chicks and gambling. Plus some plot were it places them hot chicks in very lucky situations.
report Recommended by Whoahoho
Both have the same plot where in involves games with high stakes and characters who seems to like playing it even it it cost them something, however Phi Brain was more diverse than Kakegurui when it comes to mystery and action.
report Recommended by Whoahoho
Both have a play, or get fucked badly kind of plot as well as a focus on a ya cast and their unique motivations into the circumstances that they got themselves into. And also fighting against a much higher power that controls everything as well too. And both sharing deadly blonde femme fatale type villains.
report Recommended by Disapeared_Ghost
The female leads have similar designs and personalities; they also have a habit of smiling at weird times to the point where one would see them as insane. Both series deal with strategies and deceit. They are both dark at points in time, but have some humor. The art style is similar too. Though one is set in a school and most of the deaths are social deaths, the other is set in big cities most of the time and has real killing.

Both involve games that directly affect the lives of the players. Also, the psychological part of both stories show how various characters think and act under pressure and in critical conditions. Both have strong female characters with unique personalities and obsessions.
report Recommended by Yisengal
both of them offers a situation where the main character, after a completely detailed analysis of their enviroment and game, defies their enemies in their own face, wining in most of them or making them psychologically weak.
report Recommended by DJackerick
Basically JoJo's but with generic-looking anime characters and gambling as its plot. I wouldn't call it a gambling anime though, it's very hard to explain an anime which is similar to JoJo's with posing and absurd ways of defeating enemies, so I'll just call it a bizarre anime.
