The female leads have similar designs and personalities; they also have a habit of smiling at weird times to the point where one would see them as insane. Both series deal with strategies and deceit. They are both dark at points in time, but have some humor. The art style is similar too.
Though one is set in a school and most of the deaths are social deaths, the other is set in big cities most of the time and has real killing.
