In both series you may find a lot of blood, beautiful womens with supernatural powers and both are pretty scary (at least in beggining).

Similar themes. Both anime have dark atmosphere, some horror and gore mixed in with top-notch action. Very interesting and somewhat complex stories in both of the shows.

A simple deal of people who have the ability to regenerate anything from being shot in the head to having a thousand needles stuck in their body~
report Recommended by DivergentKarma
Series with repeated timeshifts that eventually land in recognizable but undeniably futuristic settings, lots of gore and stylized fighting, gratuitous sex, much ado about immortality, mildly creepy seperated soulmates, and a good deal of confusion.

Both are neo-noir mystery anime dealing with erotic grotesque visuals, supernatural powers, and just give out the same vibe in general.
report Recommended by Axersia
Both main characters own buisnesses. Every episode is a different mission, basically. They both hunt for bounties. In that respect they are very similar

Chalked full of Action and ready to kick ass! Both series have a Female protagonist who has to do dirty work. While Witchblade has the protagonist wielding a special "power" called the Witchblade, Mnemosyne has the protagonist wield a power of Invulnerability/Regeneration. Mnemosyne is a bit more gory than Witchblade but its an Excellent anime by my standards. Mnemosyne is still currently Airing (at a slow rate) but the 3 Episodes that are currently out are a must SEE! For the guys: Witchblade being the boob-a-licious anime it is, Mnemosyne has a bit of nudity here and there. so 18+! (NOT HENTAI >=O ) ~Enjoy

Both Mnemosyne and Nightwalker feature: A Private Investigator who's lived longer than ordinary humans (Rin, Shido) A rather cute assistant who's sweet on the P.I. (Mimi, Riho) An antagonist who wants the P.I. for his own by any means (Apos, Cain)

Both contain semi immortal female protagonists, whose story spand multiple decades.

Both have main character with surpernatural ability , and both are very enjoyable anime with great and dark storyline too.
report Recommended by tornado63
Both are short mature series with heavy emphasis on the occult and sexuality, censoring just about the bare minimum to not receive an R18 rating. Their antagonists are very similar in nature and goals and the protagonists have to stop them to prevent the apocalypse.

Although the 2 dabble in different areas (Mnemosyne has more supernatural elements; Canaan has a bigger focus on scientific things), both have a very similar vibe to them, both have a lot of action, both are roughly the same length (while they may not have the same number of episodes, both will take you roughly the same amount of time to watch), both feature a lot of action, and both can be somewhat graphic at times (although Mnemosyne is much more graphic than Canaan).

Let's see here: -Both shows have a lot to deal with supernatural themes -Both can get rather extreme at times (although this happens more in Mnemosyne than in Mirai Nikki) -Both have a female lead who is associated with the show (Yuno Gasai in Mirai Nikki, Rin Asogi in Mnemosyne) -Both happen to have at least one female character who has "god" powers in a way (Mnemosyne has Rin Asogi and Mimi; I can't say who the characters are in Mirai Nikki without spoiling them, but if you've seen Mirai Nikki, you'll know who I'm referring to) -Both are really scary and violent

Blood, immortality, mystery and action. Both have atmosphere very similar.

Both offer the allusive, powerful jukujo. If you like powerful and mature women in anime you'll love these two.

Both are gory and bloody. Mnemosyne probably is more bloody and has as well some elements that Claymore doesn't, like the often use of tortures and very strong sexual themes and lastly the continous nudity. Now the main simlarity lays in the female-main characters aspect. In Claymore only females can manage to supress their inside Yoki (spiritual energy) in order to stop their transformation into a Yoma (demon) while the males, wich have a more strong sexual instict, can't do it correctly and, at some point, end up becoming "awakened beings". In Mnemosyne only females can become immortal by consumimng the fruit from  read more

Both shows are extremely gorey and filled with blood. However, Mnemosyne has a lot more nudity and sex, whereas Hellsing Ultimate has vampires

Had a similar "Cowboy Bebop" feeling when watching. However Mnemosyne contains quite some nudity and might be a bit extreme.. sometimes *cough*

Horror + Gorry-ness + Horny Bastard Monsters (geez) + Yuri (not as explicit as how it was shown in Mnemosyne but at least its obviously hinted there: the main character is so gaay for her roommate I say) = >:D

The same amount of blood and main motiv - experiments, revenge... some amount of fanservice. In Mnemosyne this fanservice is about girls, and it's more mature. In Dogs there are girls and men with naked chest, and it's less kinky.

I literally could not stop making comparisons between Rin Asogi and Koko Hekmatyar while I was watching Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne. Both are easily the strongest female leads I've seen in any anime, and both are able to come out on top.
report Recommended by RoarkTenjouin
Both shows are very dark themed and very gory but RIN is slightly more adult but both offer plenty for the adult anime fan

Both feature an immortal female lead who ends up having to deal with supernatural circumstances
report Recommended by RoarkTenjouin
Both are some of the most disturbing, horrifying anime you will ever watch. The difference is that Mnemosyne is disturbing right from the start, and it's also much more enjoyable.
report Recommended by RoarkTenjouin
Both shows are very disturbing (although in different ways) Both deal with the supernatural Both shows have female leads with very similar personalities - who coincidentally are both voiced by Colleen Clinkenbeard in the dubs of each show However, Mnemosyne is much more...shall we say graphic than xxxHolic (whereas xxxHolic is more comedic), so keep that in mind.
report Recommended by RoarkTenjouin
Looking for something graphic that will make you say "That was f**ked up" when you're finished watching it? Give one of these a shot.

+I am a die-hard BLOOD+ fan, I made tons of memes, persuaded my friends to watch BLOOD+, even though almost none of them liked it as much as I did, I think BLOOD+ is just a masterpiece - OST, story, and atmosphere - just everything about it is beautiful and well-thought. Sometimes I read reviews about it, it is sad to see people wrongly think movie of the year 2000 (BLOOD: The Last Vampire) is a new movie that came after BLOOD+ and people judge its CGI when it is just too good for anime of the year 2000 + it is a good old  read more

Both these are OVA from the 2000s which I feel have a great fantasy story. They follow a similar type of progression and I enjoyed both of them. I personally think Interlude is a better story overall, but both are great shows that try to answer philosophical questions about life and eternity. If you liked one, I would put my money on you liking the other.

• Strong, clever, and beautiful/sexy female MCs solving complex crime cases - both MCs have combat and hacking abilities and they even share very similar combat gloves! • Unique crime cases involving politics, corporations, military, and philosophy • Both series have philosophical elements, references to western literature, and the nature of the "ghost" / intelligence • Episodes 4 & 5 of Mnemosyne are especially similar with sci-fi and cybernetic/AI themes. There was even a scene in Ep. 4 where the highway was blocked and military tanks appeared, this reminded very much of Ghost in the Shell SAC. It is also where the audiences really have to work  read more

• Dark and gore mood • Philosophical discourses • Sexualization of woman and rape themes
report Recommended by reizamundi
Both have some dark, gorey action sequences and periods of more abstract body horror, nudity, and pseudo-religious themes dealing with "the fate of humanity." Heavy on the taboo, they tell the story of characters trying to find a reason to live, and the struggle to motivate themselves to that end. I especially feel the ending arcs are quite similar.

Both anime are torture... por...cupine. There's not much substance here, synopsis is full of promise in boh anime, but it never actually delivers, but if it makes you... feel something, you'll like it.

In both anime, the main female character is extremely sharp and unbeatable. They can win in any situation. Both of them have this amazing unpredictable aura to them. They are sharp and know what they're getting themselves into. They want to spice their lives up. Both anime are very sexual and contains gore. In both anime, the female lead protects the male lead. The female leads in both anime are badass.

Both are extremely gore, to the point of being extra. If you wanna watch a lot of blood and pain and suffering, then both anime are pretty similar. Both of them involve twisted logics and places. If you wanna watch something with extremem gore then you should watch it !
report Recommended by future_dose
There's some torture in Cross Ange but not as much as Rin Daughters of Mnemosyne. I'd say there's maybe around the same amount of Yuri sex scenes in both but Mnemosyne shows more with out censoring the sex scenes.
report Recommended by Deknijff
Both anime have a very similar ending

Mnemosyne is commonly referred to as torture porn. While I disagree that it is as explicit as that, Mnemosyne is still an extremely violent, mature, and sexual show with great story and characters. Another series with similar qualities is Gantz. If you're looking for an equally vipent, bloody, and explicit series that takes itself a little less seriously, then Gantz is definitely one you should check out.

- Noir - Underground activities - Main Character trying to save the world from a great danger no one understand. - Mnemosyne is more of Supernatural and Sci-fi - Monster is more realistic and more of moral dilemma.

Heavy into the human condition with despair the pain that both is felt at times. If you like this one good chance you like the other.

Both titles share a mysterious, dark quality and a remarkable similar progression wherein you don't fully understand the meaning of the series until the very end. In addition, both contain yuri relationships to some degree, however, it's important to note that in both cases they're additional to the storyline as opposed to being the main focus. Mouryou no Hako is dark in respect to crime whereas Mnemosyne is dark with more graphic sexual nature. Beyond those commonalities, these titles are very different -- different setting, different ways of presenting the supernatural, different art style and genres. Well... Zombie Loan is the non R rated version of mnemosyne, but they've lots of simmilarities (Attention: I won't feed spoilers) an office, people who fight against evil, 1 chapter plots... if you like this genre I think Zombie loan may be the perfect election in a way more soft.

With their strong ecchi/bordeline hentai content, paired with gore and other controversies, both of these supernatural seinen works are definitely not family-friendly. Blood, abuse, drama, mystery, traumatic past? Check. Religion, mythology, mysticism? Check. Yuri, kinky relationships, torture, BDSM, sexy women of badassery? Check. Our qwaser hero is accompanied by a varied harem of soma-providing heroines, although having one main 'preference', while Mnemosyne's protagonists are two strong female partners, but in both, there's a fair-haired cutie who is - or looks - younger than his/her other half and is linked to Russia (Sasha is Russian and loves borscht, Mimi enjoys drinking vodka). Killers, crimes, memory loss, mysteries, guns, action, and a green-haired badass bishoujo. Both are aimed at a mature audience, although Mnemosyne has far more gore and nudity, while Phantom is slower and longer. There's a clear similarity even in how they are titled (Mnemosyne - Mnemosyne no Musume-tachi - / Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~). They're both produced by Genco, are well-animated, and have a good OST.

Two rather mature anime, there aren't all too many similarities other than slight bits of horror and quite a lot of blood. However, one thing that seemingly stood out is the character's experience of multiple deaths.
report Recommended by DivergentKarma
The overall atmosphere is familiar. Both have a team of skilled girls fighting and using guns. Both have them taking odd jobs. Both show have dark secrets surrounding their main characters.

both animes are packed with action violence and interesting characters. Moreover both are a little hentai-ish - one more than the other ;-)

Both feature bespectacled women who deliver a lot of beatdowns amid sci-fi tinged settings and ridiculously over the top action scenes, while shoe-horning in emotional tragic resolutions. Mnemosyne is the more perverted, but don’t take either of these anime seriously, just sit back and enjoy the B-movie level hijinks.

Both are echii, both is in "Supernatural, Sci-Fi, Horror" category. But, Mnemosyne is too much better. The history is better, and besides the simple echii, there are some yuri!! xD Ps: but Mnemosyne is not a comedy...

both anime contain one of those points where you go : "OMG everything makes sense now :O" its more pronounced in Madoka. the biggest similarity between the two most noticeably or least noticeably is that they both have a very similar feel to each of them. its not something that you can put into words so i'll just leave it at they feel alike. as well both series are very innovative where they step outside of the norms found in majority of animes so if you enjoy watching an anime that is quite different form the masses of other anime then these two are probably something  read more

If yoo like a dark atmosphere, some detective mystery and girls with supernatural powers, you'll enjoy both anime. What does it mean to be human? What does it mean to be normal? Both anime work with these questions in a gorey, brutal way.

Do you want to become immortal? Maybe you should first watch Ajin and Mnemosyne and reconsider. In both anime the main characters as well as some of the antagonists are immortal; and in both series these immortals will have to suffer a great deal because of their immortality; such as being used as living test subjects for the weapon industry or used to harvest an infinite amount of organs. Both anime have plenty of action and some gore...and they might make you reconsider whether immortality would be a blessing or a curse.

In almost every single aspect, Popotan is quite the opposite of Mnemosyne. The one aspect that both shows share is the idea of immortality (albeit in different ways). In both shows, certain characters remain the same age-wise while having to watch the world go by around them. The people they encounter may grow old and die while they do not age a day. The emotional consequences of this situation are touched on more heavily in Popotan. If you watched Mnemosyne and are dying for more anime that spans long gaps of time while the main characters remain unchanged, try Popotan  read more

If Mnemosyne had terrible art/animation, but a lot less hentai/fanservice it would be called kemonozume. They both have the same "feel", completely different story lines. Kemonozume's storyline is a lot more mature and refined, so don't let the art throw you off.

In these series the main lead is a strong woman who is being hunted by an evil organisation for their own seemingly perverse purposes. The main characters have a physically intimate connection with the rest of the cast. Either of the anime aren't afraid to show the violent or graphic scenes.
