Titan or kabane armageddon? Decide while you still can as the wretched world falls into a complete pandemonium state. With extraordinary theme songs/OSTs and animation to accompany these series, one can only hope they get the recognition they deserve. As for the main characters in either series, a male that received the abilities of the devil while showing signs of righteousness and naivety…a female with lethal skills and deadly passion who fights to protect the people she loves. Both anime have pretty much of the same feeling as a survival with a group of people except Kanbaneri is more about survival with a group of cowardly people with only a few strong whereas Highschool's group of characters are all strong and gets stronger each episode. Both anime may take place in a different time period but the basic idea is fighting the undead, people get bit and come back to attack humans. The amount of gore and nudity is about the same but Highschool is more ecchi, after all, it is about a bunch of teenagers.

Both series involve a glasses-wearing main character being infected by a strange virus/being that threatens to take over their mind. However, in the nick of time, they manage to keep the intruder out of their bloodstream and save their humanity by cutting off their own circulation and blood flow to the brain. As a result, they are now half-bonded with whatever wanted to take over their entire body, giving them a unique set of powers. Both series are packed to the brim with blood, gore, horror, and action elements, set in worlds where humans aren't at the top of the food chain.

Both shows are about humanity being on the brink of extinction due to some superhuman monsters, and in this case the monsters bite humans into one of their kind. In Seraph of the End the monsters are vampires, and in Kabaneri, the monsters are zombies. Both are animated by Wit and music is done by Hiroyuki Sawano. Both are shows that have a similar setup to Attack on Titan. Both shows have a MC that are quite fed up with the situation that he makes it his mission to exterminate all of these monsters that threaten humanity.

This anime is more similar to Attack on Titan, with humanity being scared and hiding behind walls to survive against swarms of shit that wants to kill them. But, its similar in a sense to Tokyo Ghoul as well. The element of how people who get infected are treated, as soon as they are infected they are to be killed on the spot. The authorities here also do inspections and stuff too to see if you were infected. While in Tokyo Ghoul, Ghouls try to blend into society but as soon as they are found out they are to be killed on the spot.

Both have apocalyptic monsters who eat humans and the main characters have ways to defeat them. In both anime humans are reduced to living in fortified areas. The main character in both is very determined to defeat the monsters because of past trauma. If you like one of the anime its likely you'll like the other.

Both anime have a great animation with a promising plot that gets flushed down the drain. Both series face an extinction caused by a virus, in Kabaneri case virus turns people to zombie. Both series have a bishoujo character gone bad, strong relationship/friendship between two leads. Female being a cause of MCs stronger powers and etc. Differences, different time era. Kabaneri is more bloody. Guilty Crown develops its plot more. If you managed to see redeeming qualities in one, you might in another. Otherwise watch it purely for animation and sound. More of a story and character person? Don't bother with either then.

in both anime the mc is bend on fighting the things which are generally feared by most people.......and both mc become that thing which they hated the most

Steampunk zombies. Dealt with very differently, as the zombies are neutral entities in Shisha no Teitoku, the story is more inquisitive; a mystery-solving gallivanting adventure. The literary references are pretty off-putting if you're familiar with the works, but they're not heavy references, more Easter eggs for a Japanese audience who may not be as familiar with Western literary canon. Kotetsujou no Kabaneri is more drama based, with good vs. evil. Focusing more on the sadness and loss that comes with fighting. The colours and art style for Koutetsujou is darker and the sketchy lines really helps to bring out the atmosphere. Both have a good deal of action  read more

It pretty much has the same plot, and a lot of the same characteristics are shared between the protagonists through out the show. It's not as good as AOT in my opinion, but it's definitely fun and worth a watch!

Devilman: Crybaby and Kabaneri appear to be in a similar subgenre to Tokyo Ghoul and Attack on Titan: a story where humans fight against a race of monsters that prey on them and a character becomes half-monster against their will. Both series contain a rather dark atmosphere and unique aesthetic, Devilman's being its flat and over the top, but often realistic action and animation. Kabaneri and Crybaby share a sometimes hopeless outlook on things and feature a character's views on humanity and the monsters. In both series, there is a powerful female main character that helps out the protagonist and contributes greatly to the plot,  read more

Gratuitously gorey action. Beautiful & unique art/animation. Both thrillers but Kabeneri is a little more fast pace.

Similar settings and stories (to an extend). The core story roots are very different, but the idea of a group of humans fighting unknown enemy creatures from a mobile fortress remains the same. They both have very good action animation, and give similar vibes at times.

Are they human? Not exactly, in Ajin, Nagai Kei is an Ajin or Demi-Humans if you prefer. Ajin's look like normal humans on the outside, but are actually immortal and have the ability to summon an IBM (Invisible Black Matter), which cannot be seen by the naked eye. While in Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, Ikoma is a Kabaneri, something inbertween a human and a kabane. If you are suspected or confirmed to be a Kabane or Ajin you will try to be captured by someone, and eventually turned in to the government. The government will kill Ajins over and over, while in Kabaneri of  read more

Gakkougurashi and kotetsujou no kabaneri are both great anime about groups of people who are fighting to protect each other and themselves in order to survive in a world where sh*t has hit the fan full on zombie apocalypse style. Thanks for reading, -Tooru25.

Both are adventure oriented stories, though Koutetsujou is more combat oriented while Abyss is more character centred.

very similar plot. post apocalyptic world with monsters overpowered side/main character with monstrous capabilities

Both Koutatetsujou no Kabaneri and 7 Seeds are set in a world where civilization as we know it ceased to exist due to some catastrophe. The main characters are bound to fight for their survival in one way or another. Moreover, the humans are threatened not only by the dangers of the post-apocalyptic world but also the hatred among themselves. The subliminal topic of both stories is the corrupted morality of the rule that "strong live and weak die".

Misunderstood and freakish main character, solid heroine supports, and mysterious and terrifying enemies, but above all, both these shows are blessed to have an original soundtrack inspired by the legendary Hiroyuki Sawano.

-Zero Two and Mumei act similar except Mumei isn’t as apathetic. (Still apathetic tho) -Humanity almost wiped out by monsters -Male mcs act similar

Definitely very similar shows. A similar concept of traveling by train through a post-apocalyptic world. The main characters are trying to survive and find out the cause of the disaster. Who is behind all this?

I think each of them has its own fantastic story and character development, so if you're looking for another zombie anime, I really recommend this one.

Set in a Post Apocalyptic... where humanity is fallen apart... Vampires(Kabaneri) droven onto madness... Both have a same vibes with interesting background theme setting..

Similarities: -The same plot where mankind existence was under threat from a epidemic of apocalyptic proportions. -The same character plot where it is up to two individual with special skills to keep mankind safe from the threat. Dissimilarities: - One was about mutated monsters that were once human while the other one where all about super zombies that can't be killed easily.

While Akudama Drive held onto a more lighthearted rebelling kind of vibe at the beginning of the animation, but as the animation progressed it begins to build up a more serious atmosphere, shown through the various scenes of loss and death as they reveal more and more revolting truths as the animation progresses. In both animations, it depicts the desperateness of the characters living with awkward identities, experience through various hardships and explores subjects like "a place of belonging" as they struggle to survive in their separate difficult situations battling life and death. Although both anime vary significantly in the overall atmosphere and theme they share couple significant similarities. Both storylines follow a young male protagonist with a female companion waging a fight against monsters that threaten the human civilization. Both duo of protagonists also possess some unique power originating from their sworn enemy; in both cases they are half-human and half of the other. Aside form that, the main villain of both series leads their campaign, which causes suffering and death to completely innocent people, out of personal vendetta. The Koutetsujou no Kabaneri is set in a much darker tone (comparable to that of Attack on Titan)  read more

A travel to escape zombies and survive in a post-apocalyptic world... Both have average ranking on MAL but deserve the watch if you like the genre. Although Mo Ri Shu Guang is Chinese, it can compete with other Japonese animes of the same genre in term of art and animation. Both have good OST and I especially like Mo Ri Shu Guang opening. Don't hesitate to watch one of these two, and if you do like it, know that you are likely to enjoy the other ;)

Both are anime with very good art, very violent and brutally bloody/gory. In the end, both anime are rather clunky in their execution in spite of how pretty they look and sound. Both could have been significantly better, but if you like good looking high quality action, these are two anime to check out. For the protagonists, both become a "monster" that is considered dangerous to humans and are (initially, at least) treated poorly by other people. Both have to survive by killing. Lots of blood, lots of gore, lots of death. Eventually, both face a situation where large numbers of people are at risk  read more

Quite similar themes, even similar names (Cagaster of an Insect Cage, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress). Similar premise: outbreak of some form of virus, turns humans into some form of beast upon being bitten, hard-shelled and thus not easy to kill, so on and so forth.

WHY is that there was no one who recommended this? Ikoma is very much containing the principles of Shirou Emiya: wanting to be a hero, cheesy and cliche or not, but the similarity is very much as that.

Steampunk anime are few in number, so it makes sense to mention previous works in the subgenre whenever a newer example comes along. Kabaneri is a zombie apocalypse in a steampunk Japan, while Last Exile tells the story of two nations forced into war against each other via the use of airships.

Both have: - a colorful historical Japan setting with samurai - rule of cool elements in action sequences - epic music by Hiroyuki Sawano - a funny guy who sometimes speaks English (if watching subbed) - a lot of style and expressive characters These are both a fun watch if you don't care very much about everything making sense, especially if it's easy for you to get engaged in a well-animated show filled with emotion.

While being different in story development and action, both these anime are set in an industrial/steampunk era which does give it their unique setting. They're still pretty intense for their own story and do deliver a pretty solid experience when watching them.

Both follow the typical story line where vicious creatures roam rampant on Earth where someone has to stop them or else humanity will go extinct.

Both series have very intense fighting scenes, murdering monsters and main characters with a hysterical (superhuman) strength. Apart from that, there is a lot of drama, betrayal, action and existential questioning. Claymore has only girls fighters in a medieval fantasy setting. While Kabaneri (turned monsters) are usually women (in the plot at least), the main character is a man and their universe is steam-punk feudal Japan like. However, the most familiarity of both of these epic series is in their vibe / atmosphere, which I found very similar. If you watched one of these anime, please check the other and I hope you  read more

Both are largely about fighting supernatural monsters. There's obviously more to it than that, but they should tell that story themselves. Similar vibes in both, dark settings with a bit of comedy to lighten the mood from time to time. They are both incredibly cheesy but that cheese is somehow what makes them enjoyable.

Ordinary People, Extraordinary Powers: Both series feature protagonists who are initially ordinary people thrust into extraordinary circumstances. Kafka Hibino and Ichiro Inuyashiki both undergo drastic physical transformations that grant them superhuman abilities. Moral Dilemmas: Both characters grapple with the ethical implications of their newfound powers. They struggle to balance their desire to help others with the destructive potential of their abilities. Identity Crisis: The physical transformations lead to both characters questioning their own identities and their place in the world.

The main characters in both shows are infected by a virus. This virus makes people want to consume humans. One of the main characters has a person who supplies them with food. Both anime have symbolism involving red butterflies.

In Knights of Sidonia and Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress humanity is almost extinct. A man eating race has driven humanity out of it's home and a small group escape using a vehicle, Sidonia in Knights of Sidonia and the Koutetsujou in Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress. The only way to kill these creatures is to pierce their true hearts. There are also hybrids of the monsters and humanity. Both series also have a lot of political commentary in them.

Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress and Active Raid are action shows with trains. Each show is an original work by a director of an extremely famous anime. Active Raid is directed by Taniguchi Gorou (Code Geass), and Kabaneri is directed by Araki Tetsurou (Attack on Titan). There are some differences though, while Kabaneri is a Horror, Fantasy Show, Active Raid is primarily a Mecha.

Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress and High school fleet had the main characters start with a "Mutiny/mistrust" and it was solved throughout the series. Also, both series contains a "infection" (Kabane/Hypnosis Mice) and the main characters fight against it, as well as thrilling and pumping action scenes for you to enjoy.

Yes, you have seen this premise before in countless variations: Attack on Titan, God Eater, Owari No Seraph, Takt Op. Destiny, and of course Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress and The Fire Hunter. Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress received more criticism than expected because Wit Studio used many staff members from Attack on Titan rather than make the next season of Attack on Titan. Unlike Owari No Seraph (another Wit Studio product), this series is an anime original. Kabaneri has its problems, but it is a hell of a ride. The Fire Hunter has some remarkable known staff member for a much smaller studio, but  read more

Both anime have an apocalyptic environment where our characters struggle to survive against the human threat known as: -Kabane (Koutetsujou no Kabaneri) -Gastrea (Black Bullet) * It is largely about the members' struggles against the various monsters that come to invade. * The action and music stands out as much which is a credit to all the hardwork that has been established into the series. * Both of these anime uses various weapons to destroy those invaders... * Both male leads are no longer human (kind of 50/50) * Horrifying and Awesome !!

- Both series follow characters on the move towards a destination. - Both series have the characters fighting a supernatural threat/infection that blocks their path (A.I.C.O/Matter and Kabaneri/Kabanes) If you enjoyed one for the type of on the move story then you'll most likely like the other. Highly recommend both series.
