Devilman: Crybaby and Kabaneri appear to be in a similar subgenre to Tokyo Ghoul and Attack on Titan: a story where humans fight against a race of monsters that prey on them and a character becomes half-monster against their will. Both series contain a rather dark atmosphere and unique aesthetic, Devilman's being its flat and over the top, but often realistic action and animation. Kabaneri and Crybaby share a sometimes hopeless outlook on things and feature a character's views on humanity and the monsters. Both mc's appear to have an identity crisis after a massive change to their body and capabilities, while eventually fighting for their very lives due to this change. While Iron fortress has a much more kill them all mentality for the mc, devilman's mc is a kinder soul, but receives massive backlash from the population of devilman appearing as a mob mentality similar to the protests in Portland. Devilman amazingly showcases the goodness some people can harbor despite constant rebuttals, while kabaneri shows peoples unwavering will to survive so well it astounds my expectations.
