Koutetsujou no Kabaneri

Both have apocalyptic monsters who eat humans and the main characters have ways to defeat them.
In both anime humans are reduced to living in fortified areas.
The main character in both is very determined to defeat the monsters because of past trauma.
If you like one of the anime its likely you'll like the other.
Koutetsujou no Kabaneri's art, dark and polished, kind of remind me of God Eater. For me it's a mix between Princess Mononoke and God Eater.
The story is quit similar as well with Aragami standing for Kabane in God Eater.
Same character archetypes and plot. If you enjoyed the plot progression in God Eater, then you will find more of the same here. The relentless action is delivered in the same fashion and characters go through similar arcs.
Those two animes are pretty much the same because:
- a big wall to keep the humanity
- creepy monsters outside of the wall
- those monsters kill you at the moment they recognize you
- the main character lost his family to thos monsters
- the end is pretty much predictable
