I am surprised how much I enjoyed this. Like a few other the cat was kind of annoying to me, but the rest was great.

Decent setting, going for a Yokohama Kaidaishi Kikou vibe, slow first ep, let's see where it goes.

That was really peaceful episode
I'm sure I'll like this series a lot
I just need peaceful things in this world, not suspense or explosions xD

A bit boring, Aria is weird, dunno why is he the president.
I didn't like the renaming of Mars and Earth, especially Man Home, lool, it's too weird.
Ai-chan was kawaii though.

I appreciate that this first episode managed to establish a setting that's unique enough to be interesting. The soundtrack is very soothing, I love the guitar. The backgrounds are pretty, and they definitely have a charming South European aesthetic, which is not something I often see in anime.

Akari's optimism is a little too much for me, but I trust that she'll show more depth later on. A lot of the jokes don't really land with me, but I'll try to keep an open mind.

Overall it's still a world that I would like to learn more about and the characters are at least not annoying. And it's the perfect palate cleanser for me right now. The visuals and the music is the real reason I'm sticking with the series, though.

I wonder if the President actually the CEO of Aria Company or just the mascot.

Aria is truly magical. It really is. The soft pastels and the tranquil music blend so well with the laid back atmosphere, and all the sappy monologues are so well balanced with the quick comedic skits and brief moments of tension, of which are done to give just that little bit of drama to give the episode a little bit of diversity in tone.

I love the opening. It plays over the episode itself, becoming part of the anime and making each opening unique unto themselves. Plus, all the vignettes provide so much world building, giving glimpses into the lives of the various citizens and workers. These are then augmented by the tour, which further explain the world through conversational dialogue rather than simply speaking about such details directly to the viewers. This truly is an animated travel brochure of the happiest place in the universe.

The architecture is amazing. It's spectacular to see a recreated version of Venice, idealized to become a tourist hotspot. This actually speaks to an aspect of destination tourism, where the best parts of a location are accentuated through advertisement. Neo-Venezia recreates the look of the rustic-feeling Renaissance-era city, full of its mix of Gothic, Classical and Baroque styles detailed enough to actually call out. However, it still has elements of futuristic technology, but the anime is brilliant in how it preserves the old aesthetics while still retaining the benefits of technology to communicate and travel around. The city maintains its facade in front of tourists, but still has the conveniences of its contextual modern-day technology. It really provides a lot of lessons to real life cities trying to bank off of nostalgia in its tourism.

In preserving or referencing older eras, questions of authenticity arise. For example, why would someone visit the Venetian Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas when they could just go to the actual Venice in Italy? However, is the real Venice the same Venice as it's portrayed in films such as Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) or the Casino Royale (2006)? Or, is it the same Venice that is portrayed through multimedia formats as seen through tourist websites and general Google searches? How much of Venice's crime and unemployment is advertised? What about the city's flooding and sinking problems, or the levels of canal pollution? Such details are sidestepped, as these behind-the-scenes information isn't part of Venice's framed image. And, as such, Aria's world of Neo-Venezia equally excludes such details from its aesthetic. In fact, due to the world being fictional, it's possible to omit such details as they're not part of the narrative.

As fans, we can make observations, but that's on us to decide how real we'd want to individually make Neo-Venezia. From what is portrayed, for all we know, the buildings could be cardboard popouts hiding wires and lightbulbs behind every stone veneer, but like a tourist, the viewer is ushered into the series on rails, looking at the city from the anime's camera. It really drives the guided tour metaphor home, and the episode makes great use of it to slowly introduce viewers to the world. We're made to look at what the anime decides is the best way to experience the city, and even if it's a fabricated experience, it's all worth if so long as the experience supercedes reality. In a way, it's an argument for the fictionalized portrayal of subjects in terms of tourism, fiction, and anime. While it may be false, so long as the viewer gains something more out of the experience, it's still a worth the time and monetary investment, both from the creator and consumer sides.

But, alas, I digress. The anime is, for now, a simple show about cute girls living peacefully in a futuristic rendition of its real-world counterpart. It's also, for now, the best slice-of-life and my favorite anime that I've seen thus far, despite this only being episode 1. Hopefully the rest of the anime continues in its quality.

This setting exhales peace and tranquility, but I feel it lacks contrasting substance to make me care. It was one of those episodes where you check the time left at every instant, aka, boring. Maybe it's not my cup of tea. 3/5

I hate how ignorant I was. I added this to my list a long time ago but never watched because I thought from the attire, church girls in a church setting.
I'm proud to say this might end up on my favorites list after years of ignorance.
Plus female character that says ARA ARA and isn't exposing her chest?! YES PLEASE

Lol, I think my heart was soothed from watching this ep. Now I need a stream site that has this with good quality.

Everything was very calm and relaxing. The planet and its city sound interesting too; I wish for their origins to be fully explored but I doubt it'll happen. Anyway, sweet first part.

Anime seen as soon as it came out subtitled in my mother tongue, I re-immerse myself in the waters of Neo Venezia to re-savor the romantic atmosphere of this anime. The original Japanese voices are the best, the narrative pace is a bit slow and almost annoying, but this is forgiven, because of the many merits. Narration that leaves a basic message in the ending.

That's president?.. Hm.. Ok..
So many names starting on A.. Author likes names from A, I guess.. Like Akari, Aika, Ai, Alicia.. Wait.. Checking cast.. Almost everyone's name starts from A.. ;D I guess it's on purpose then.. Or author really likes names starting from A, after all..
They mentioned they grow food for themselves.. But also planet was terraformed to be with lots of water, Akari says.. So do they have place for crops even?.. Well, maybe they have some, or maybe they use artificial places..
Hm.. I don't know about growing to like something you don't like.. It's an interesting idea, but also kind of a strange way.. I think it is ok to not like something.. But also to some things you can change your attitude.. I think it's perfectly fine to some things don't necessary change attitude..
First episode was kind of interesting, I think.. If this anime will be different stories with different people we meet - it can be quite an interesting anime.. But also not necessary it'll go, how I imagine.. Will see, really.. But first episode was enjoyable to watch..

I thought this was so peaceful and gentle on the spirit.

The opening is tranquil and it was so sweet seeing them making breakfast as the music played in the background.

The comedy wasn't too over the top but still satisfying.

The art and scenery is beautiful, especially the backgrounds, designs of ships and buildings.

Akari is a very likeable and sweet. The cat is cute in a pokemon sort of way, I guess. I really like Alicia a lot.

"All its inconveniences, how slowly things happen...everything."

There were moments of turmoil and also melancholy but it wasn't abrasive.

I think I'll keep going and see what's in store.

That was a good first episode. I really liked how calm it was. (*^▽^*)

I hear this is an episodic series and it's good to take your time with it, which I'm not complaining about, sometimes I take a long time to watch stuff {{{(>_<)}}} And the characters introduced so far seem quite likeable

I think I will enjoy this series q(≧▽≦q)

I liked the episode, I saw that there weren't many science fiction scenes, but the character designs are beautiful, some of them are cute, but it's about guiding in blue waters. I liked the ending, I'll wait for the next dubbed episode.

It's probably labeled as partly falling under the Sci-Fi genre mainly just because the entire premise and setting (a terraformed Mars in the 24th century) is considered Sci-Fi in nature.

I have two reasons for watching this. 1) It has a manga that's recommended for beginners in Japanese. 2) It has similar vibe to Frieren.

It has an okay start. Saitō Chiwa is also here. I don't know when it will feel great, but it's promising.

The animation is well dated. old-school supremacists will thrash it, while recent anime would have used CGI much better. I have to ignore the glaring CGI and imagine what the scene is like using better animation, or perhaps in real life.

God, such a nice/relaxing anime, I don't know what to think about it yet, it seems like it's going to be an episodic Sol filled with lovely life lessons, I just hope there are some longer storylines that will engage me more. The characters are cool so far and I like them already.
