Aoki Honoo was hilarious! It started off quite slow, and I initially thought the characters were quite flat, but by the end I was fully engaged. Kaizu reminded me of one of my favourite characters, Akane Minagawa from Scum's Wish. For a 47-minute OVA, he was quite the well-realized narcissist. My rating will probably lower after sleeping on it, but I do appreciate that it tried something different. One of my favourite things about older anime is their freedom from the modern tropes you see again and again.

Enjoy Berserk. It takes a lot of convincing for me to read manga, but I couldn't put down Berserk once I'd started. The anime, aside from cutting a few scenes for run-time, is one of the great adaptations. Griffith's speech in the anime is probably my favourite moment of any media.

Regarding scores, since there're so many options out there, I believe that some just aren't worth the time investment. I too take something away from everything, but some of the series I've subjected myself to were absolute misery. For example, Tsukumo is the only thing I've ever begged my friend to turn off. It's quite short, so if you want to take that as a counter-counter-recommendation, be my guest xD Most people seem to rate it, so perhaps I'm the odd one out.
