I don't think Hak can forgive what just happened. Would be interesting to see even more of their childhood. Hmm, I think the action was alright this episode. I am impressed by Hak's fighting ability even as a bodyguard.

I feel bad for what happened to the princess though. Must be hard to take it all in...
Kinda cute to see Hak comforting the princess.

It was the king who killed his own brother, who was the cousin's father, so he avenged. And it sounds like there's a guy who serves him that instructed him to kill father and attempt to kill her because the cousin had a bit of confusion (must be kind at heart and didn't fully intend to do so) when he heard the reason why she's awake. Childhood guy and another guy who uses archery came to save her. That another guy died while letting them go, though.

Travel to survive begins. Showing that she's stronger with more of her guardians (dragon power? Because one of the guys that has the outfit of the training priest of 07-GHOST like Hakuren, has dragon hand) at the end.

Childhood guy's feelings next?

I just hope it isn't a conspiracy by the other official to put the blame on the king and make himself a trusted adviser/official.

Hak versus Soo-Won! Cut short with Hak being forced to drop his weapon. That arrow to give the perfect distraction.
Min-Soo acting as decoy :( to let them escape and he getting shot by like 4 arrows.

Are they just going to jump to there? I really want to see how she gets stronger and meets allies that would fight for her and the kingdom.

Nice ep :3 My only problem last ep was the rushed transition to the last scene but this ep went back and explained everything that happened in an awesomely paced sequence :3

Chiwa-chan really is awesome with how she's depicting Yona's emotions during her monologues ^^ U can feel her sadness, disbelief and confusion there :3

The animation and art was really nice. Liking the fighting scenes. Hak vs Soowon was quite awesome. Hak is BOSS! Loved his hug at the end OTP <3

I don't know what to think about the future scenes they're showing. They're nice but I don't think they're necessary right now. I can understand if they wanted to show some action in a non-action packed ep but this ep was filled with intensity and action so what's the use of showing that :/

Great adaption so far and liking the adaption a lot ^^

Loving that ED a lot. Really reminds of Rain (FMA:B OP5) in some parts ^^;

What a great episode, major step up from the previous one. It was enjoyable to the point that I didn't want it to end.

The atmosphere was just right and the OST complemented it perfectly. Man, was the latter not simply amazing?

I'm glad they went back and explained the reasoning behind Soo-won's treachery. Although it wasn't completely unshrouded, I'm sure we can look forward to it unfolding in the future.

The pacing is also interesting. I can see some people not liking the fast transitions into the future, and then going back, but I personally like it. It's either hit or miss.

Hak's my favourite character thus far. His combat abilities are just so fun to watch. I hope he gets developed later on. The rest of the supporting cast look interesting as well.

Perfect adaptation again! Studio Pierrot was really great with this type of genre huh?
Wow! So Son, Hak was that strong! (I can't imagine it when reading the manga.)
And His "The Thunder Beast of Kouka!" nobody can't beat him without getting rekt first!

Poor Min-Soo he was killed without putting a fight for his life, Anyway he fulfilled his duty till death so I salute him for that.

And what was that near the end? Why it's back on timeline so suddenly? I almost thought they had skipped a Volume again for a minute! But after I saw the preview of the 3rd episode I calmed down.

And as the title of the next episode was "The Distant Sky" huh? And it means it will composed of Chapters 3 and 4 of the manga.
Actually they can do 2.5 chapters (or 3) per Episode right now since the next chapters wasn't really long.

I skipped straight to the ending was the best part. I just want them to hurry up to the part she gets revenge. I've seen enough shocked princess bullshit. I still think i read this manga and dropped it. I'm just not really sure.

Matter of fact they should bring Legend of Basara and let that get a full remake.

I was expecting a good amount of action, and it certainly didn't disappoint. Man, that was intense! I really liked seeing Soo-won's reasoning behind his betrayal, but now I really wanna know exactly what happened with the king and his brother.

It seems that some people really don't like the "skip to the future" bits at the end of the episode, but I think it's really neat, and it leaves me even more willing to continue this series (not that I was unwilling- I'm very happy I even thought to start watching this).

RIP Min-Soo!

Seriously... wow. I loved this episode so much, the entire thing had me in suspense and excitement. Such a relief after watching some of the more snooze-fest and fanservice-y type anime out this season. Absolutely loving this!! So a major part of the story will center on how Yona evolves from the spoiled weak and sheltered princess into the strong leader of the rebellion. They have actually been doing a great job of showing her character at the beginning, and it is totally believable that we are seeing a young woman whose privileged life is collapsing around her. I didn't expect that a shoujo series would feature some of the best fight scenes of the season, but that was a pretty intense passage of arms between Hak and Soo-Won. It's not really a spoiler when they show her with her allies in the future as we saw that back in the opening of the first episode, but it does somewhat dilute the dramatic tension for the next few episodes until she has her party assembled. If they keep up this level of animation and story-telling, this could be a surprise hit this season and deservedly so.
Please don't feed the trolls!

Well Studio Pierrot is animating Akatsuki no Yona and animation has never been a strong point for the studio. Therefore, I wouldn't get my hopes up when it comes to the animation, it's just something you'll probably have to get used to.

Pretty sure King Il was framed as the killer of Soo-won's dad, and that secretary guy Kye-sook was probably the one behind it.
Soo-won himself doesn't look so satisfied even after killing the King. Not liking this guy but lets see if he can redeem himself.

Aside the political matters, the fight scenes were great. Hak is pretty badass! I really hope he ends up with Yona. That OTP hug was nice! :3

The sudden fast transition from past to present was probably the only thing that was off in this episode. I do want to see the encounters of Yona and the other side characters.

I'm really enjoying this series, and seeing as how it was a series I had no expectations of (considering I picked it up on a whim) it's a pleasant surprise.

At first it really tripped me out at the end seeing that cut to the future. Too be honest I thought for a second we were already at that point. But when I realized that wasn't the case, and they're just the opposite of what a flashback would be, I'm completely fine with it.

Seems like a promising series though, it certainly is in my taste so I'll be going along with it.

Wooah liking the fight scene between Hak and Soo-Won! They did a great job with the tense atmosphere throughout the episode. The bgm suits the setting a lot, and there are few noteworthy ones. I think Min-Soo being shot down was more heartbreaking in the anime than the manga. I don't remember seeing him barely able to walk and then being shot down one last time ;_; although it's been only two episodes and he had barely gotten any screen time, I will still miss him.

They're definitely pacing this pretty well so far, except it was surprising to all of the sudden see a glimpse of the future with all the pretty boys + Ao and Yona being awesome with her presence, but makes sense if they want to grab veiwers' attention. And I really really like the ED. Not familiar with vistlip, but the vocalist reminds me a little of hyde.

I think the point of having the flash forward is to show that we don't have a wimpy simpering princess for the whole show. It's hardly a spoiler as it's clear that she is going to get allies, and in this sort of show you don't kill off the lead character!

One of my favorite shows of all time Nana used this technique of flash forward really effectively. If it's done correctly then there doesn't have to be any reduction in tension.

BTW .. agree with others about the awesomeness about the OST of this show. It fits the setting perfectly!

I really feel sorry for Yona. All this happened on her 16th birthday. What a bad time for these things to happen. She'll probably remember her birthday as the day she escaped the kingdom after her father's death.

Really looking forward to how she mee all those dudes in her group and.how she brings them to her side or how they join her and Hak because Soo Won will probably treat her as a criminal throughout the kingdom in order to eliminate her.
