Glad to hear you're enjoying the show more now. In my case, it pretty much stole my attention from the very first episode, and by the end it became one of my favourite anime.

It's a definitely a hard VN to read. I almost gave up a few times while reading Introductory Chapter, and while there's still the occasional line that makes me yell "WHAT?! WHAT DOES THIS EVEN MEAN?!", the grammar isn't too scary any more. I'm near the end of Closing Chapter's common route, for reference, so I think you'll also get used to the writing around that point.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'll do my best to keep going.

There are some. Honestly I haven't really used this site in years and just came back recently to combat boredom. Literature, especially post modern lit is kind of what I love and study, but I don't think serious art goes over super well on the forums here. Thankfully I have a couple people irl that I can discuss this with, but I do get annoyed because sometimes it feels like people call you pretentious just because you reference something you know and study, even though by definition pretension is when you, well, try to come off as knowing more than you do. So really no reference is pretentious as long as it's apt and you actually understand what you're referencing.

I wouldn't say it's pretentious. You should be able to reference anyone you like, including in conversation. Plus it's only Camus, he is a pretty ubiquitously appreciated author.

The first half (or whatever fraction it is until the end of the school festival) was actually my favourite part of the show and one of the best experiences I've had with anime overall. I don't remember any fanservice aside from Haruki catching Touma coming out of the shower at one point, and the way they both reacted about it was far removed from the typical clichéd 'kyaaa!!! *throws bucket*' scenario.

I like the small, quiet moments in drama and White Album 2 captured that perfectly. It spoke to me far more than AnoHana and Toradora and all those other cryfests. It was mature and maturity is something I almost never find in anime. I guess if somebody were to ask me what I look for in anime, I would answer "White Album 2". It's pretty much everything I could ever want from a story.

I couldn't agree with you more about Kaichou wa Maid-sama. I didn't like it either.
