It's made by the same director, who pays attention to great details in movies. Plus, that other movie's characters make cameos here. Both movies have supernatural themes, and romantic relationships developing between their poster couples.

both are weather themed movies with lots of nice to look at visuals and art.

Both are set around the premise of rain and the bonds and romances created from it, while they may be very different through the story, the overall theme of both is centred around the same ideology. Both animations and art styles are gorgeous as well. I believe both are a must watch.

Both are beautiful supernatural stories that focus heavily on nature and it's preservation and balance. Something is thrown out of whack in both cases, but to avoid spoilers, I will just say that the stories change quite a bit because of this. They both have excellent music and directing, and have some of the most gorgeous shots I've ever seen in anime. I would say Nagi no Asu kara is much more relaxing and cozy, though Tenki no Ko certainly has it's calming moments.

Changing with hardships. Weathering With You and A Silent Voice follows MCs who wishes to change their lives for the better due to past experiences. Weathering With You follows Hodaka as a runaway going into Tokyo, struggling at first. A Silent Voice is the same though Shouya changes as he ages due to his past as a bully, struggling in the process. Both are great visual masterpieces with Weathering With You having supernatural, fantasy elements. Whilst A Silent Voice is a school drama about the change of a bully.

the protagonist has to choose between the world crumbling or their respective loved ones

Very similar concept and both are sci fi romances where it is about the perspective of the world and how far you can reach into the sky.

CUTE ROMANCE STORIES THAT MADE ME SHED TEARS. I LOVE MY HINA AND MY SUZUME.

Both are movies where a duo chooses the regular over the extraordinary with a theme of environmentalism. Ponyo is more lighthearted as it is more geared towards younger viewers

Rain themes, female lead having supernatural rain powers, good music and animation.

A story of looking for a place you belong. A story of finding love. A story of the power of gods. And a story of the price you need to pay for making it your own, and the price of regaining what was lost.

Both share a reserved introverted mc as well as being friends with a girl thats like the opposite of him as well as its supernatural setting in a modern Japan and also ya cast as well too and also use of rain for both series case in its respective animes as well too.

Penguin Highway and Tenki no Ko are beautifully animated movies with breathtaking art and animation and they both feature unique male protagonists who has to deal with the unique weather scenarios in their cities. The stories in both movies are developed by authors who combine realism with fantasy elements. -Both male protagonists in these stories are heavily inspired by weird, eccentric female characters who has unique powers. -The main cast is also very similar: a group of kids consisting of 2 young boys and a girl, 1 eccentric older woman, a researcher, a father figure, and so on. -Weather phenomenon, adventure, and investigations. -An underlying  read more

Addresses similar themes concerning found families, runaways, and fantasy elements, but does it with a stronger attention to detail in terms of the story on presentation.

both are somber themed stories with a supernatural twist to them.

In both Yakusoku no Neverland and Weathering With You, a couple of foolish kids begin doing things the old people around them tell them not to do, inciting supernatural events, calling upon forces beyond their control, and causing authorities transcending their comprehension to punish them and their fellows for actions that we would consider morally mundane under most circumstances. These authorities punish them by taking away the ones that they love most, which only further ignites their endless determination. For Emma, she wants to save her fellow orphans from the slimy claws of the demons, and for Hodaka, he wants to save Hina from the local  read more

On the surface level it does not seem like Eureka 7, an early 2000s mecha anime series, and Weathering with You, a supernatural romance film that came nearly 15 years later, have a lot in common. Despite this I think there are plenty of similarities between the two shows Starting off with our female protagonist Eureka/Hina -Both have a supernatural connection to the environment. -despite their young age both of them are tasked with looking after some (Eureka's 3 orphans and Hina's younger brother). -Both Hina and Eureka's bodies undergo physical changes as the story processes. These changes start on their left arm and slowly spread to the rest  read more

There's a weird superpower that makes the world look amazing via the power of underwater magic. The ones with this power are partnered with one another to make an unforgettable adventure (more true in Tenki no Ko). Basically a grand time out with some teens messing around with the water. It's good enough, has decent drama and decent supernatural elements to it. Let's not forget aesthetics too. Everyone loves that. And that's the only reason to watch *both* if nothing else.

Supernormal. Weathering With You and A Whisker Away both follow young MCs using unnatural powers of shifting nature, whether it be shapeshifting or weather-changing. A somewhat fantastical story plays out with these characters understanding the limits of what they should be doing in where they stand. As said, Weathering With You does this with the weather changing on will, Whisker Away does this with people turning into cats and humans. Both are good anime movies dealing with supernatural powers held by teens. Both are also romance drama movies.

Similar in it's depiction of those living on the edges of Tokyo society, teenage runaways and homeless, as well as the environment they live in.

The main goal is to save the one he loves. Supernatural phenomena. Miraculous moments. Great towing into the story.

Both movies have a fantasy world building set on an ocean world. They have their own uniquely stunning visuals.

Some teen romance and a Shinkai movie. Idk what more you want me to say. For the purpose of persuasion though, I will tell you that both have aesthetics and although trip up later in the story, has a romance that makes up for the silliness. It's maybe not the biggest go-to, but it's nice on your list.

Both are a romance and both have a plot of a very strict weather and a special girl whom can change it

Both of these anime movies are heartfelt teenage romance dramas. Kyoto Animation and CoMix Wave Films did an absolutely amazing job of animating Tamako Love Story and Tenki no Ko respectively. Though you have to watch Tamako Market, a short twelve episode TV anime, before watching Tamako Love Story, I still highly recommend watching both because the conclusion to Tamako Love Story is simply breathtaking. Both of these films are a must watch for fans of Makoto Shinkai (director of Tenki no Ko) and romance anime in general.

Both of them have the view of a romance feeling towards the main female characters and have the same romantic vibes.

Both Tenki no Ko and Pom Poko address environmental issues as well as the changing role of classic folklore in modern society. Both films share mixed outlook that's both optimistic and pessimistic on these issues. Anther theme they share is that of family. While Tenki no Ko looks more at a runaway who chooses his own family, Pom Poko shows the closeness of a tanuki family.

They say that love can topple mountains, destroy towns, flood cities, and brave the tests of time. It's really astonishing to witness what the bond between two people can do and both these series portray such imagery that it's very perfect!

Both of this anime will make you cry like a stupid nerd, enjoy .

Two romance films with interesting fantasy/supernatural elements that are directed by internationally acclaimed filmmakers. Makoto Shinkai has undoubtedly become the most recognizable anime film director outside of Japan after Hayao Miyazaki. Masaaki Yuasa is just as acclaimed as Shinkai for his series and films, but less known outside of Japan. You can therefore expect a very well written film.

I feel like Tenki no Ko and Natsume Yūjinchō have some things in common. Natsume Takeshi being an orphan who can see yōkai, and has more yōkai friends then human ones. As a child, Natsume was ostracized by the other kids because they didn't believe him. As a teen, Natsume mostly keeps his ability to see yōkai secret. (Although there are a few people he knows who can also see yōkai, so he's open with them.) Although, Hodaka from Tenki no Ko isn't an orphan, he is a runaway. We never see has parents, but we know his home life was bad. He meets a  read more

I would recommend all of Makoto Shinkai's films, but I feel like Children Who Chase Lost Voices and Tenki no Ko have a similar theme. You don't mess with the nature of things, whether that be weather or death. Are you willing to sacrifice someone's life for what you want? Children Who Chase Lost Voices is about a man and a girl traveling through the Underworld to bring back his wife and her father. However, they need to exchange someone's life to bring back to dead. (One of the two characters knows this, the other doesn't.) Tenki no Ko is about a girl who can  read more

Weathering With You and Flavors of Youth both the story of the young and their pursue in what the young spontaneous desires long for. Weathering With You does this with Hodaka and "sunshine girl" Hina messing around with the weather. Flavors of Youth uses three different characters and their motivations and love of the past. Both are good anime movies with visuals made by the same studio CoMix Wave Films.

Breaking the law of nature. Weathering with You and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time both follow students who mess up with the omnipotent laws of the world. In doing so, these protagonists end up getting the mighty force of nature impacting their lives in the sense they had not wished for. TokiKake has time leaper Makoto. Weathering with You has duo Hodaka and "sunshine girl" Hina. Both are good romance anime deemed as epic visual works. In which, touch into the fictional aspects of sci-fi and supernatural respectively.

Living for the Day After Tomorrow and Weathering With You are both about a pair of characters that meet unexpectedly during one magical summer. There's a bit of slice of life, supernatural, and familial drama with both anime, as well as good music and a pretty nice-looking visual presentation. The former is a slow-paced TV show while the latter is a very ambitious romance movie, though.

A supernatural love story. Although Weathering With You and Bunny Girl Senpai: Dreaming Girl vary a lot, both follow an MCs who aids their respective heroine. Without going into a spoiler, both also have a similar plot twist. Both are great supernatural romance about valuing others close to you and actions taken if something were to happen...
