Male lead and female lead meets in a game that basically costs your life if you lose. Female lead becomes obsessed with male lead who was a coward and slowly becomes stronger and wishes both to live. These similarities are seen in both anime.

Both are battle royal anime that has a video game come to life scenario. In Darwin's Game, Kaname downloads a mobile app and is given a sigil or ability that he uses to fight other players and win challenges. In Btooom!, Ryouta is brought to an island and is forced to kill other players using bombs, which is exactly like the in-anime, titular video game he frequently plays. Both protagonists are also overpowered, Ryouta is the top Btooom player in Japan and as a result, he has a leg-up on everyone else on the island; meanwhile, Kaname has a sigil that allows him to create  read more

The same situational plot where random player gets trapped in some virtual game where it is run by some very mysterious entity , where the name of the game is to fight or die.

Similar things: -Main protagonist in Gleipnir is noob, same as in Darwins Game, so he team up with a girl called Claire Aoki. -Same as Shuka in Darwins Game, Claire Aoki is crazy and psycho. -There are teams in both anime fighting each other -Awesome soundtracks and animation in both anime. Overall both anime are very similar. The main difference is that Gleipnir have way more ecchi moments than Darwins Game.

I describe Darwin's Game as a cross between Future Diary and King's Game. Both death games with gruesome deaths.

the main theme is survival in both types of shows, matches happen and in these matches the opponents have no restrictions so killing &brutality is common

Both animes are based on a death-game psychological idea, where high-school students have to go through "games" or challenges in order to survive.
report Recommended by Shikii_
Both have that same plot where gamers got on line and both have the same situation where they got more than what they've bargain for where they either play the game throughout the end or die both in the game world and at the real world.

Imawa no kuni no alice is about a group of friends who get transported to a parallel version of Earth. In this new world, you need a Visa to live, when your visa expires, you die. To renew your visa, you need to play different games that this world offers. They vary in difficulty, the harder the game, the more days you get in your visa. Like Darwins game, the main character is dragged into an unknown game where he is forced to fight for his life in order to live.

Darwin's Game is like high rise invasion because.... !. They both are kinda like the hunger game. 2. there mostly similar because darwin's game and high rise invasion focused on more of winning something. 3. they both gain allies 4. they both are dragged in something (P.S Tenkuu Shinpan has more blood)

Both involve characters that download a mobile game that ends up turning into a real world survival game. Both characters are given powers through this game.

I feel like the main character's development is a bit similar in both anime. In Tokyo Ghoul, Kaneki started off as this normal, boring guy who was tortured and forced into awful circumstances. This is the same in Darwin's Game, since Kaname was forced into the game through the death of his friend. Both anime also give off that dark vibe that just makes my stomach turn (but in a good way). They also have that psychological element and isn't just a plotless action anime.

Both involves a group of individuals that found themselves in a virtual world, where they make a choice to either survive or find a way to get out of the game.

Another "game" based anime series
report Recommended by SupremeJustin
Both anime feature a battle royal game, with characters having special abilities. Also both focus much on internal monologue for fleshing out the characters motivations and strategies. In contrast to Darwins Game, Juuni Taisen shows varying characters per episode, while Darwin stays at the main character.

The Fate series are considered a battle royale masterpiece, with the main protagonist accidentally dragged into the race, after which a grand story of struggle for life and love follows, mixed with mystery, suspense and action. Darwin's Game tells a similar tale, albeit perhaps in a slightly less "epic" setting.

Both protagonist are introduced to a game that changes their life forever, a game of battles. The protagonists are forced into scenarios where they are given certain abilities are made to fight against other users of the game. Both series feature themes of hardcore action and survival as the characters do their best to keep themselves in the game. Darwin's Game differs with more deadly stakes were its characters are pitted to kill each other, while Accel World features a more prominent story of character growth as its lead develops to become a powerful figure in and outside the game. Overall, if your looking for  read more

Similar sort of plot where one protagonist is "chosen" although Hanakago wasn't really chosen just randomly. And both characters hope to make it to the top. Personally Darwin's Game is meh. But I think Platinums end will be the better of the two but check it out if you want.

Apart from the gods part in Law of Ueki they are pretty similar, a bunch of people getting powers fighting eachother Where as in Law of Ueki they get powers from Gods and in Darwins Game they get powers from an application in your phone, each power differ and have its up and downs. The Goal in Darwins game isnt really revealed as of this point, whilst the goal tends to be clearer in Ueki no Housoku

If you enjoyed Darwin's game, you'll enjoy Tower of God; both anime's follow a main plot of having to 'break out of the boundaries', portrayed differently, however, both ultimately follow the same goal. In Darwin's game, the goal is to break out of Darwin's game, to enter the 4th wall essentially and win-over the system. In Tower of God; the goal is to become God itself, to climb to the top to then leave the tower and become an overruling power, thus obtaining anything you so desire. Both anime's are great, they both are animated well, with good openings and endings. Both 9-10/10

Student gets thrown into a chaotic world. Both obtain superpowers. Both create their own mission to take down the evil force that controls the world they live in. Also, both have female partners.

Survive to change this world! Akame ga Kill and Darwin's Game both follow protagonists in a situation where their lives, and that of others, are at stake. These MCs use all of their powers to change the current system of their respective worlds, in hopes to demolish in what is a horrid world. MCs Tatsumi and Kaname both start out as everyday members of society, though as they understand their predicaments, they begin to see that there is no peace in their world. With a mindset complete on their goals, both group with others to set out on their ultimate mission. Both are good action anime with  read more

both are about the protagonist getting trapped in game world and end up reforming the game world darwin game is more gory and dark

It's also a dark Death game with lots of tension and fun fight scenes.

- Plot is about factions fighting each other - Characters rely on each other which is tough sometimes - Both take place in concrete jungles K has more nicely written factions, it even makes you support faction different than the protagonist one

These shows feature a protagonist in a system that seems like a video game, but is still real. The MC trains themselves and learns new skills through the system, and learns to fight in bloody, faced-paced action! I know you Solo Levelling fans enjoy that. I think that these shows are both unique, but have a good overlap which means that fans of one will likely enjoy the other, but it will still be a new experience. Also, if you are seeing this on the Solo Levelling page and not the Darwin's Game page (which you probably are), there is huge fanservice at the end  read more

So many f***ing cliffhangers! Fr tho, both these shows have a very similar feel to them. Like they are both a game but not a game. They have super skills but the “game” is grounded by some reality.
report Recommended by AgentTBone
The premise of both shows is nearly identical. A random average kid is forced to play a death game. That game turns out to have real world repurcussions. No real point to either show, no overarching character goals or anything - just cool fight scenes
report Recommended by Razerwind984
Both protagonists join a system which involves gang wars. They also have superpowers that they don't know how to control at first, though slowly getting used to their powers. Partnered with a rather powerful individual.

kind of the same where the mc is in a game *kind of a spoiler* they both changed their personality at the end

Stuck in a game. Although Ainz is a supreme being on a mission to learn about the new world, Kaname is trying to take down Darwin's Game entirely. Both have teams to aid them as well.
report Recommended by NextUniverse
this one is great and comes closer to the vibes of Darwins Game :D
report Recommended by MythicalMagician
Both are suspenseful shows about a bunch of people transported to a mysterious location, forced to play a survival game.
report Recommended by fanfictionlurker
A similar idea of the game taking place in the real world yet having seemingly no communication or help from anyone that is not part of it, essentially being invisible during it.
report Recommended by Lifewyd
Completely different storylines but they sure have some similarities in between: - Characters have superpowers - when characters use their powers their eyes glow(kinda) - in DTB they have to pay a depth after using their abilities, in Darwin's game there is n depth but there is a grading system, gaining points or losing points - main characters look similar

Both popcorn anime centered around a "battle royale" fight to the death game. Both have similar levels of animation quality, pacing, character focus, action scenes. The stories are both structured in very similar ways. If you liked Killing bites you'd probably enjoy Darwins game too. There are small differences, namely the way they handle the fight scenes but overall they're about as enjoyable as each other.

Darwin's Game is about a guy getting dragged into a death game; Air Gear is about a guy getting into the sports of Air-Trek. Both series have a lot of similarities: Creating their own clan, battling to gain/defend turfs, Sui/Sota & Agito/Akito, even their clan names have similar theme of black bird.
report Recommended by ToG25thBaam
I feel some similarities as the characters, of both anime, have to fight people that target them. Along with how, similar to Moon Phase's Hazuki, Shuka of Darwin's Game has similar elements of a cute small girl, with strong powers, that is very attached to the main character.
report Recommended by greed2
Both involve a survival game that is fairly digital and involves real life money. Darwins Game and Duan Nao also can mess with the memories of people so they cannot remember the people or the game.
report Recommended by diabolicalx
Evil or live itself isnt structured as a survival game literally like D-game...but i canpromise it has survival, game, strategy, and a friendship formed for survival. Evil or Live doesn't have the sort of romannce vibe.
report Recommended by diabolicalx
It involves a group of specialize gamers that found themselves in some virtual game, where they have to use their wits and work together if they're survive , the difference were is one was more of a daganronpa knock off.

The same situational plot where youngster found themselves in a virtual world having to fight for their lives with the help of a virtual mascot to guide them.

Both have that same vibe where player got involve in some game were the losers pay's a heavy price.

Battle royale. D-Game battle royale take place in real world. GGO battle royale take place in virtual world.

Both revolve around the survival game aspect. One takes place trapped inside of a school and having to murder their friends in order to progress and graduate while as the other involves a phone game in which you must fight against opponents you are paired up against.
