Free! and Tsurune have the same sort of atmosphere. Both tell of 5 guys working together to learn and improve at a sport (swimming in Free! and archery in Tsurune). The animation is well done and very similar style from KyoAni. They both have a high emphasis on friendship. If you enjoyed getting a glimpse of what goes into a sport, and how people can bond together from one of these shows, you will have a very similar feeling watching the other.

Both are really similar in : - Learning to trust each others - Passion (sport meaning) is the key - BL/Bromance vibe - Realistic scenario - Dealing with struggles - Friendship

Upon watching the first episode of Tsurune, I would say that both the MCs from Shigatsu and Tsurune have a past that has barred them from excelling at their respective "sport". Especially, both MCs are excellent at their arts, but are unable to recover from a tragedy until they have received the support of friendship. -MC with a past -Friendship -Slice of life

Both of these shows feature after school clubs, one about archery (Kyuudo specifically) and one about playing the koto. They feel quite similar in mood and story themes. They are very enjoyable if you want to either learn more about the actual activities or if you just want to watch the drama involved.

Similar in Hanebado!, both MCs decide not to play their respective sport after a traumatic event. However, they come back to playing their sport after their friends and other supporting members help them recover/motivate them back to their original dreams. Both MCs are also good at their sports prior. -Sports -Traumatic event in the past -Friendship

Both are about a group of students in school clubs, one for archery and one for concert band. They give off similar vibes, similar art style (obviously: KyoAni), and both have similar group dynamics. The story of Tsurune focuses more on a single person trying to overcome his weakness, whereas Euphonium tends to focus on several (but does still focus on the lead quite a bit). They are very human stories that are relatable and enjoyable to watch.

Both MCs are trying to discover or achieve a specific sound. The story is basically their journey to do that those around them supporting or ridiculing them or rivaling them. Both also have to overcome some past trauma to be able to achieve or hear the sound they want.

They have a great balance of believable characterization and enthralling sports scenes. Themes in both of these shows include finding one's passion, being on a team, overcoming obstacles and following one's dreams.

Although the MCs are quite different, the two animes have a similar feel. They are both incredibly freeing and stunning - whether it is soaring into the sky while doing multiple backflips, or the gorgeous, crisp sound of releasing an arrow. Gives me goosebumps when watching them perform their art!

Generally speaking, the most popular approach to making a sports anime is to focus on the sport and the competitions. Every episode, every moment is centered on the sport. Character focused episodes and moments are about their growth as athletes and not as people. Tsurune and Stars Align take a different approach where episodes are focused on the characters. Of course, the sport and the competitions are important, but the writing is not centered on these things. The anime makes an effort to establish the characters as people who are athletes. Personal growth results in improvements as athletes. It is not about more practice  read more

Both are slow paced sports anime with a focus on friendship, struggling to bond with teammates and realizing why one does the sport he chose as a little kid. The best friend pair of the main characters and how their friendship works is similar too.

- Both take place in a school environment - Both have characters that received some sort of loss prior to reaching high school - Both are about sports Kyudo and volleyball respectively - Both are about being the underdog in a sports competition To me both anime kind of feel the same beyond what I already mentioned. The coaches are likeable characters that are present in the character's lives prior to becoming the coach. The characters are driven to succeed within a team environment. Both anime's share the genres: sports, school, and drama. Some differences are that Haikyuu!! is also shounen and comedy. Kageyama and Onogi are both voiced by  read more

Both have excellent animation. They are dissimilar in plots, as Tsurune is a spots anime about Japanese Archery, and Violet Evergarden is, well, Violet Evergarden. But they are similar in the way that they are very calming to watch in certain episodes and make your heart pound in others. Both of their main characters and support characters have deep backstories that make their characters all the more richer. It's very beautiful.

Both are anime with themes of dealing with your inner turmoil. Main characters have different, but similar problems (one has social anxiety, the other has target panic) that are well-explored and of consequence to their respective stories. Both mains learn to rely on others and form a tight relationship and friendship with others through some kind of activity (archery and fishing). There's also a strong parallel in the personalities of both anime's main cast. Both anime are are very feel-good and are excellent in building up emotional highs.

-Main character creates/joins School club activity involving sports/performance art -Supportive best friend -Interesting characters join the club -"Epic" event that sparks interest of activity in Main Characters childhood -More talented rival Conclusion: Both anime tell a story of people doing, and learning about Japanese based activities that turned out to be more enjoyable then expected.

The general plot of each show is about reviving a Sports Club with no members. And both Mcs are similar in that they both went to a Powerhouse middle School but lost love for their respective sports due to an incident that happened, and decide to attend a school without a team (club) for the sport. However, when pestered by their friends to join the new club, they reluctantly join and do their best to reclaim their top form and lead their teams to victory in tournaments.

Both about sports and working as a team . One is about boy cheerleading and tsrune is about archery

Both animes contain leading characters who return to practice the sport they love after difficult times. They have the help of colleagues with different personalities, so they will have to figure out how to work as a team to succeed.

In middle school, Haijima (2.43) Minato (Tsurune) were talented athletes but a sports incident derailed their ambitions and plans. Now, as high school students, they must confront their problems and learn to reconnect with the sports they love. While Tsurune and 2.43 have competitions, character growth is the greater focus of the story. If you enjoy sports anime that focus more on personal development and the problems of athletes then this recommendation is for you.

An important aspect of these series is the relationship between a mentor and student. Kai (Piano no Mori) was satisfied with playing piano for himself until his mentor shows him that there is so much more to learn from the piano. Minato (Tsurune) had resigned himself from never practicing archery again after losing his self-confidence. A chance encounter with his mentor inspires him to pick up archery again and begin recovering his confidence. These mentors do not simply teach, but challenge their students to find their own answers and discover new depth for their passions. As you can guess, both series focuses on character growth.  read more

Both are sports anime about self-improvement with an almost all-male cast and strong focus on the relationship between male characters, as well as having a cast of characters with different backgrounds. There is particular focus on the main friendship between the leads. SK8 is more stylish with flair and Tsurune is more focused on traditional Japanese culture. If you like one, you will likely enjoy the other!

Gorou (Major) and Minato (Tsurune) are talented athletes who must overcome the psychological condition that has damaged their sports careers. Sports anime generally do not cover sports psychology issues and when it does it is often quickly introduced and resolved (sometimes in an unhealthy manner) as part of a character arc. Tsurune and Major S6 give proper attention to their main character's psychological conditions and how it affects them and their team. If you are interested in this aspect of Tsurune or Major S6 then you have found another anime to watch. Of course, Major is significant time investment to reach season 6.

These two shows are not very thematically similar. However, they are understated and sadly underrated/underappreciated, with thoughtful and sensitive characters, relaxing settings/tones, and topics that the audience may not otherwise know much about or be interested in. They may not be the most exciting shows, but they present believable and heartwarming stories that can provide a break from the stresses in life.

Both MCs have troubles with their respective sports and they find a mentor who helps them overcome their difficulties.
