Both Tsurune and Chihayfuru take a Japanese tradition and place it in the modern school setting, the two focus on the sport and fleshing out the current practice of Karuta and Kyudo while also focusing on character development and relations.
-Both have sports unique to japan and are educational. You learn about the nuances and specifics of sports you may have never heard of.
-Are engaging and can be a good tense.
-Have a semi-mysterious main character (Masaki and Arata).
-Have an MC who is great at their sport yet face difficulties and improve in time, not prodigies.
-Both are technically school-life but thankfully don't ever really focus
