Whilst the similarities between the two are largely superficial, the short gap between their airing dates and period piece shoujo anime (complete with princes and sword fights) revolving around red-headed heroines not being terribly common still makes this recommendation obvious. Even without mentioning the cutting of hair. What is most striking about the two is the very similar yet contrasting approaches of their adaptations. Akatsuki has a vibrant Korean period piece design, complete with an 'Ancient Asia' classical-style soundtrack. The world-building is also strong. Akagami has something of a medieval Europe design with a 'fairy-tale' bright colour palette and a 'magical' classical-style soundtrack. Both series  read more

Both are great shoujo animes that give a wholesome vibe throughout the show. The main characters are independent and can stand against their own ground. They both wear a similar style of clothes back in a fantasy medieval-like setting. The female protagonists work with herbs where Shirayuki makes medicine while Sei makes potion. They take place in a kingdom that involves a prince and knights. I like how both animes have a group where the main character can open up to and trust. If you like romance in one, you will definitely like romance in the other. Both of the male characters in the ship  read more

Redhead Heroine changes the life of the hero with her kindness and special "talent". In SSwU the heroine sings and in AnSh the heroine is a healer. In both the hero is from royalty. Heart warming slow romance with slice of life that will appeal to shoujo fans.

Both are about red-haired girls finding their place in society, with one being a mage and the other being a court herbalist. While their personalities certainly differ, both girls eventually become driven at being the best of their kind. I enjoyed the fantasy setting and the development of romance equally, though Shirayuki-hime definitely is more romance-driven while Mahoutsukai focuses more on the lore and worldbuilding.

Both time period animes with leading female roles who focus on their career.

There's two main factors: the main character and the envirenment For the main characters: - Both female - Both herbalists and specialists in ancient medicine - Both find herself in an unfamiliar place For the envirenment Royal/Imperial court with historical theme

A girl of lower status becomes the center of attention for a person of royalty because of their strong will and kindness. The girl starts out only allowed to be in the presence of the lord due to their relationship, but eventually earns her way to be with him through her intelligence.

If you love Sugar Apple Fairy Tale you'll also love Snow White with the Red Hair. Both are romances in a fairy tale setting. They have a sweet Disney-like feel. Both shows have high-quality, beautiful animation with a bright color palette. Both shows have ambitious, driven and strong-willed female leads that are working to master a craft. Medicinal herbalism for Shirayuki, being a sugar sculptor for Anne. Both feature a warrior male lead.

The age it take's place in is almost the same.

both show a girl with a strong sense of determination. never backing down from a challenge, and working as hard as they can. they both also have a strong and cool male love interest that falls for them because of their determination and willingness to push them selves far beyond their limits. which causes the main male to slow them down so they can rest and helps them so they don't over do it

Similar plot with a prince falling in love with someone with a lower standing.
report Recommended by heisenbergeth
Both anime follow a prince and are historical. If you enjoyed some of the conflicts that Zen had to deal with in Akagami no Shirayuki-hime then you would enjoy Arslan Senki. Also the art style is similar.
report Recommended by temchan
These two animes have a very sweet romance. That is what really ties them together, along with that the heroines are quite different then most, which makes the story really fun to watch. But the romance is what really makes you continue watching.

Both protagonists are ambitious, goal-driven, capable, and resilient. If you love female protagonists like that, I recommend: Skip Beat!, Claymore, Hana Yori Dango, Kaichou ha maid-sama, legend of Basara, Seirei no Moribito. Out of the list, Skip Beat! and Kaichou ha maid-sama is more light-hearted.

If you enjoy one I am sure you will enjoy the other. They have a very similar feel, both the setting and costume style are very much alike, the MCs are both strong-willed females who don't know how special they really are at the beginning. They have similar elements of magic (not an overwhelming aspect of either series, just an interwoven theme) and most importantly, both series are incredible and memorable.

Both have an opulent, historical noble setting with beautiful animation. Both have driven, intelligent female protagonists from a lower social standing that romance royalty.

Both are fairy tale themed inspired stories that focus on romance and a share a cheerful optmisitic lead and a very heartwarming and wholesome storytone in its atmosphere as well too.

Both male and female protagonist are strong person with character, dedicated, and a proper royal. Set in a medieval time, romantic genre and have a very good animation. Seriously, we need more role models in stories like this.
report Recommended by Bluejazzlikethat
Both female protagonists love knowledge, are smart, and have a good heart. They use their skills and passions to improve their lives. The shows have similar atmospheres where you can relax and enjoy the beautiful worlds. Both have great characters and world-building, and are well-written.

Both being fairy tale inspired romance stories with alot of wholesome cheery feel goodness to it and a very strong and detrimined brave female lead who charms anyone she meets and easily befriends them.

Both anime's are based off already existing products and have been improved from the original stories. Snow White with the red hair takes place in the same sort of time period as Romeo X Juliet and has a commoner falling in love with a prince/noble. At first the main heroine being Shirayuki/Juliet is in hiding and in both cases get found by the main character which progresses their romances from their. Both series have side characters that support the main characters through their struggles to keep their relationship together, in which both animes share a similar theme where the main characters relationships are thought badly upon.

Both character were regular citizens from the city but had an unusual look to them that makes everyone wants them. They both are forced to marry the prince and abandon their identity but the strong willed characters run away. The main girl is surrounded by attractive men and have love triangles. Both are really good and addicting - you'll love one another.

Both have very healthy romances where the characters inspire each other to be their best. Both are set in European style kingdoms with beautiful environments. They are feel good pieces.

This is another amazing show that isn't as heavy as fruits basket but still gives some fantasy elements and things like love triangles that we all love. Zen is a similar character to Yuki and Shirayuki is very similar to Tohru. Also if you love Momiji, you'll love Obi, they don't have similar personalities but they both are that 2nd choice charter that really adds to the love story. Overall, this is an amazing light anime that I would recommend to fruits basket fans!

Both of these fantasy titles have a strong romance element that is present. The obvious comparisons is that Shirayuki-hime is set in a fantasy kingdom, with a female lead who seems to catch every male's attention. She is a nice, caring and compassianate human being who doesn't want to call men "Dogs" and mistreat them at any given second. Of course, she is a poor person, so maybe if she was an aristocrat she would be different? In steps Louise! Do you like princesses being protected by knights, but the princess can also kick butt? Shirayuki is a girl who can handle her self, but that doesn't stop her from gaining a small handful of hot guys who care for her.

I felt both shows shared a similar tone with the pacing and characters. Snow White and the Red Hair has medieval European setting unlike The Raven Consort however they share a similar appearance with leading female characters who don't fit in the court they have been place in and solving problems one by healing, the other by power.

-Being a huge fan of the Romance genre, I can say that both these titles made my heart flutter with all the cute scenes of the couples. -Their endings too, were partly similar (Can't go deeper without spoiling things :P) -Both are Must-Watch titles for anyone into Romance <3

There is a quite intelligent person with great talent. They work in their hometown, but due to circumstance they are threatened and they decide to leave rather than quit doing what they love. They arrive in a nice place where they found people who are initially a bit sceptical but then soon became friends. Also, it seems this may be the place where they really feel at home, perhaps?

Both of these anime have a soft and warm feeling, with gentle but brave female MCs and a subtle touch of romance and adventure. There's no dramatic twists and turns but if you're into shoujo you're bound to enjoy this easy watch.

both anime are romance heavy with a heavy will that get together plot both the MC has been force into a new environment one kidnapped the other force to leave to avoid being a prince's concubine. both MC are the target of political drama being close to powerful character and both do their best in new home one opening the restaurant and the other become a court herbalist. both MC are quick to forgive and very kind to nearly everyone even those that may do them harm

Hunter X Hunter and Akagami no Shirayuki-hime had some action fights also with funny moments and i think some of main characters and supporting from Hunter X Hunter and Akagami no Shirayuki-hime had almost same with their responsibility and personality for example is Killua and Zen because they are loyalty friends and always want to be by their side to their main character Gon and Shirayuki. They also had same blue colour for their eyes. The romance is not a forced point, both FL have bright red hair, just because a man and a woman are close didn't mean they couldn't have a friends to lovers rather than lovey dovey immediately. The ML and FL try to support each other without expecting anything in return and there is mutual respect

A little different but they do share some similarities. Inspiring love story, they both push each other to do better.

Both anime are a romance between royalty and a "commoner". In both anime there are strong women who have to prove their worth and overcome obstacles of people who oppose the engagement of the two leads.
report Recommended by dadnaya
There are two main protags: a hero who is sort of a cross between and adventurer and the brave one (Logy and Zen have the same hair color to boot) and a heroine who is somewhat bubbly and friendly but is well-versed in their profession (Escha and Shirayuki, an alchemist and herbalist, are similar jobs that require chemistry and biology to understand) The settings are also similar as to a town full of people who go along with their lives as the protags and troupe of friends (Each series have their own supporting cast) go around solving problems and going on quests and adventures!

Standard fantasy settings with European style kingdoms and political maneuverings and both have a sweet romance at their core.

Both animes have a prince and a princess like figure in them. Both animes also use swords to fight their battles, but unlike Snow White with the red hair saijaku no bahamut also use robot mechs to fight with alongside with a sword. Both animes have similar main characters in terms of them having a sense of protection towards others (main girl protagonist). Each of the animes are set in a kingdom for saijaku no bahamut tis would be "the new kingdom" and for Snow White with the red hair this would be "Clarines".

-Very similar characters -Romance story set in a non-modern era -Main female character has red hair -Similar feel -The two main characters have very different backgrounds -There are a couple love interests, although both animes tend to focus on the two main character's potential relationship with each other, instead of any other possible relationships.

Although the settings are a bit different--Akagami no Shirayuki-hime is set in a historical fantasy version of Europe, and Emma is set in a historical 1880s-1890s London, the tale of a lower class girl and an aristocratic man still strike the same chord. Both Prince Zen and William Jones are gentlemanly heroes who respect their love interest despite her social position. Shirayuki and Emma are both hard-working women who take pride in their work.
report Recommended by waxesnostalgic
The characters all have a very inspiring work ethic and motivate each other to do better. The series are light with touches of drama, comedy, adventure, and romance. Animation styles are also beautiful with lots of colour.

Similar settings, European fairytale themes, beautiful sets and character designs, themes of working hard.

The cute romantic moments of Shirayuki made me think of The Pilots Love Song. An enthusiastic gentlemanly prince character going out of his way for a girl, and the girl finding a way to be prince where the prince is. In both anime they are somewhat kept apart because of social status and end up stealing time for themselves when others aren't around. Shirayuki is somewhat lighter and Pilot is a bit more serious, but both have a similar color scheme and show changes between character relations. There are similarities here and there but both shows have unique stories.

They have a similar feel. Both are wholesome romances between goodhearted, determined characters. Both are also a romance between royalty and a commoner with no status.

Both series take place in the royal/kingdoms times, and the character cast that are full of quirks. Both also revolve around a bright red-headed protaginist (Luke fon Fabre and Shirayuki), that have to leave their hometown by force. Both protagininsts were also kidnapped at some point in the series, adding plot to the series. The art animation styles are viusally similar, and are very pleasing to watch. The only difference is that Tales of the Abyss has a more advertuous and fantasy theme, and Snow White has more of a shoujo and romantic feel to it. Both animes are both really great, and fun watches.  read more

The thing that reminded me the most of Kemono no Souja Erin was the heroines. I would say they have almost identical personalities, where they are extremely kind, caring, witty, and smart, with a strong determination to accomplish their goals. They also both have to escape their home villages from people who are trying to capture them. In both these stories, a young maiden flees into the woods, because a vain person wants her, or wants her dead. In the forest, she meets her saviour(s), with whom she lives since then. With her new comrades, she goes through various adventures, and grows as a person. The maiden's main love interest is a prince, who also falls for the protagonist early in the series. However, the persons who caused the exile of the maiden pose some difficulties, which have to be overcome. If you want to see stories which are inspired by a certain tale of the Brothers Grimm, both titles may be for you.
