Hello! So what kind of anime are you looking for so far? By the way, you're older than several of my oldest millennial friends.

I don't know if video games are your thing (my older Pokémon loving & shoujo loving friend doesn't like most video games either), but I say that Monster Rancher (subbed) is better than I thought.

Still, my personal favorite adaptation is Arc The Lad, because the story is awesome and not formulaic like other games. My big Virgo friend loves it too also because Arc is hot (loves sci-fi and well, pretty boys too).

Before Arc The Lad, I watched the Darkstalkers anime via 9anime and it was an okay adaptation. One of my older Libra friends love it though.

Anyway, I think I said quite a mouthful for now.

Greetings, came across your profile considering we share a mutual friend and was pleasantly surprised by your taste. So, after reviewing your list I decided to recommend you 3 films I noticed you haven't seen. These are:

Perfect Blue by Satoshi Kun
Tsumiki no Ie (a short film being one of the two japanese medias to win an oscar).
Memories

Would like to hear your thoughts once you've seen them.

I wasn't actually aware of Le Chevalier! I just looked it up though and it looks cool! Thank you so much for the recommendation!

FMA 2003 starts out fairly similar to Brotherhood but goes in a very different direction. It does have some lackluster filler, but I feel it's more atmospheric and tonally consistent than Brotherhood although most people prefer the latter for its faster plot and larger cast. After finishing the Inuyasha manga years ago I decided to start watching Final Act on and off. I've heard the sequel wasn't very good sadly.

Nice to meet you btw! It isn't too often I meet people on MAL of my generation!

Hello! Not really, I haven't watched Bungo Stray Dogs yet, unfortunately, but what I wrote I meant it, because the vibes I got reminded me very well of his personality irl. Don't mind me plz, also it was my first review, maybe I was being not clear in some sentences, wasn't my intention to confuse. In general, I loved how this anime portrayed the different book stories, especially Akutagawas and Dazais.
About translation, indeed, that is the huge problem with any language, that is why I prefer to watch anime with original audio, nobody can translate idioms and jokes into other language (for example).

Sorry for the late reply, my activity on this site has decreased tremendously in the past 10 years, but lmao I'm glad you like the Camus quote but yes, we are the last people to be recommending anime to each other haha
I'm actually curious to see where the disconnect is at

I've never seen In This Corner of the World but hearing you lump it together with Princess Kaguya and The Wind Rises makes me want to avoid it. Thrilled to hear someone else call out The Wind Rises--like, it's obviously very well animated and competently told, I just wasn't invested at all through the whole thing, which has been a trend for me through nearly all of the new age Ghibli stuff. Asides from Arrietty, (which I kinda randomly loved and probably doesn't actually deserve it,) everything they've made starting with Ponyo has felt utterly forgettable. It's all well-crafted, but it lacks the heart and spontaneity of even hoaky stuff like The Cat Returns.

No worries, everyone's entitled to their own opinions ^_^

Hope you find some more things you like too!

I should probably update my completed list then. Still in the process of trying to remember shows that I've watched, and in the middle of watching. Some of what's on my list and backlog is from this dude's watchlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLUmU8V7hhvqy9gYkMVjUAYova-uID1DwJ

He's a dude with an extreme personality and tastes, not to mention a bit of a prick. His high standards though leads most of what he does recommend out to be good watches(It's where I was recommended Kaliedo Star and Haibane Renmei). Take what you will out of it and maybe there's something you haven't watched that sticks out to you.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
