Maoyuu Maou Yuusha

The studio behind Maoyuu have CLEARLY embraced the fact that the source material came to be thanks to S&W making a serialised story of economics and love economically viable. They've also taken advantage of the desperation S&W anime fans feel for a S3 that - probably - won't ever be. Why not employ the same JP voice actors, the same director and other people that worked on S&W? It makes good business sense. As an enlightened fellow pointed out in passing, Maoyuu started out on 2chan and - more than likely - panders to the wants of its target audience as much as it does because of this. Gone is the witty banter shared between Howo and Lawrence--in their place, you get Demon Queen's tits and 'jokes' about her "useless meat" shoved down your throat 24/7. There's the intelligent dialogue that made S&W a favourite, for sure, but even that is questionable (war = good) and learning about the economical benefits of certain food ain't all its cracked up to be, to tell you the truth. Maoyuu will probably be one of the better anime going around the block, don't get me wrong. It having S&W staff employed makes me confident of that. But that line of thought is part of the problem: Maoyuu will always - rightly - be in Howo's shadow. Will JRPG cliches/tropes being added to the S&W mix make-up for a lack of the personality/charm that made S&W such a fan favourite?... I doubt it. Very much. read more 

Definitely get the same flavor from the Maoyu archetypes but now even more comedic because they take the settings and integrate them into the character backgrounds which then get thrown into a new world instead resulting in hilarious moments and situations. Demon king and hero again, with the use of magic but now in the modern world. 

Log Horizon and Maoyuu are two series taking place in a fantasy realm. They both involve war and politics but in a more of a stylistic fashion. Mamare Touno is the original creator for both series and makes their setting come to life with detailed mechanics. Both series has some action but truly shines in their ability to comprehend and explore their world settings. There is also some drama, comedy, and hints of romance. Maoyuu has more fan service while Log Horizon composes of more comedy. 

Hero helping the Demon Queen  

Takes place in a distant land. Wars between other countries. Politics and magic. Swords, bow and arrows etc Main Hero meets a beautiful woman who changes his life.  

Both main characters are a hero who tried to defeat the demon lord; but end up having to work with a female demon lord instead. Also both anime point out how people profit from the war with the demons; and how these people will prevent the war from ending (even if they can) and even try to bring back the war so they can make profit by selling weapons etc. Also both anime contain some comedy and ecchi. Difference is that Maoyuu takes place in a medieval low fantasy world while Yuushibu has a magipunk setting. Also in Maoyuu the demon lord is the smartest of the couple, while in Yuushibu it's the hero. read more 

Both anime have the protagonists who are on the opposite sides of the spectrum, working together to stop the war once and for all. 

Both of these anime portray the midieval time period extremely well. Maria however has an outstanding story to back that up. It's a shame that not a lot of people have seen it or even give it a chance, it's extremely underrated.  

They might revolve around different gimmicks but Maoyuu and Soredemo Sekai wa Utsukushii has a familiar mood that takes place in a fantasy setting. The main female protagonist is resilient with a tough personality for the people she cares about. At the same time, their companion or in this case the main male protagonist, does his best to deal with struggles in their world. Both series has a decent amount of comedy, drama, and occasionally action. There is a more incentive for relationships between certain characters to develop, in particular the main protagonists. At the same time, sparks of romance is seen although more prominently in Soredemo. I recommend both series for anyone interested in a fantasy series that expands beyond just the classic sword & magic fighting tone. read more 

You see in both: - female main character closes a contract with male main character - romance set in a non-modern era - female main character takes care of the strategy towards their goal of creating a better world - magic - war - very similar feel I was surprised not to see this in the top recommendations here. I automatically thought of Grancest Senki while watching Maoyuu, they have a very very similar feel. 

The main characters are complete opposites, but are bound by a contract and end up working together for a certain goal. Also, both are romance, but a frustrating "love triangle" happens between the main male character, the main female character and a close friend of the male character. (Harem) Both main male protagonists are blue haired and wield swords. Also a similar feel and atmosphere of both of the animes, and great (but frustrating romance) and stories.  

Taking place in a fantasy world, both series feature many elements that defies the logic of nature. The main male protagonist has guts and often takes risky moves. At the same time, they are acquainted with a female protagonist who tries to change their world. There is a decent amount of comedy and drama going on. With humorous dialogues and conversation, I recommend both series for people who want a taste of fantasy fun. 

Both shows main focus are economical and political aspects of managing kingdom in a fantasy world, we follow protagonists, that try to make world they live in a better place. Also both shows feature wholesome romance elements. 

Fantasy world, demon lord, and war between humans and demons.  

Political battles, war, war strategies and tactics, conspiracies are the core of these animes 

Although taking place in different settings, both series involves a main male protagonist meeting a female protagonist in the pilot episode where their lives change forever. There is romantic and dramatic tension between the duo that also involves some other supporting characters. Both series also has fantasy themes as well as some action, drama, and humorous dialogues. The main male protagonist have similar personalities while the main female protagonist treats the guy with kindness and compassion. 

Both series feature romance between the two main characters who come from opposing sides of warring factions with a medieval European-like setting and similar art style. Lots of political intrigue and a desire to improve the living conditions for the citizens of both worlds. 

Similarities: Same red head girl with big boobies who belongs to demon hierarchy. Same guy with special ability who is in custodian of red head girl. Same adventure, fantasy, demon and magic genre. Dissimilarities: Guy in one anime is an asshole while the guy in the other is chivalrous and noble. One anime has an extra ecchi and school genre while the other has romance as its extra genre.  

Although not with the same premise, both series adapt a similar feeling in a fantasy setting. The main male protagonists from both series are considered "heroes" and often try to get work done alone. The female protagonists from the series share a strange bond with him. There is some action, drama, and adapts more of an adventure premise for both series. It also features some past histories related to the events in the stories and how they came to be. 

Different approaches and addresses, but the same common purpose. This is ... the creation of a better world, where conflicts, poverty and death that left the war after startup, stop by the creation of a new country that will change everything !. Interestingly, both Sinbad and Yuusha, we see that this is being built by businesses worldwide. Although they differ in their approaches (Maoyuu by love and Sinbad by battles), both want to keep that feeling of achieving the same purpose to unite people and to achieve observe a hope that is not impossible. 

I can name a few things similar of both series: Fantasy world where Demon Lord and The Hero destinated to fight each other, Plot progression and the appearance tendency of the plot, I-have-watched-for-the-plot, loveable characters, comfortable enjoyment, calm world building,... I would recommend one to the other's fans. 

Politics, economics & rebuilding the medieval fantasy country during a war - that's what unifies these titles 

Both shows speak about political relation between humans and demons/vampire. Both also has some romance in it. 

Maoyuu is who Hestia would be if Hestia was older and a demon instead of a goddess. Both female leads love the male character very much, and both take place in a fantasy world. 

Both deal with countrys macro economic situations Both have a nice and small romance atmosphere Both have a very smart protagonist Both deal with international relations among the countrys in their respective worlds Both are very smart animes!! 

Both anime revolve around the idea of trying to bridge a gap between different worlds. In Outbreak Company, Shinichi-kun tries to reach the Holy Eldant Empire with the use of Japanese Otaku Culture, while Maou from Maoyuu Maou Yuusha tries to reach Earth (or the human realm) with economic ideas.  

Both are about an incredibly strong man joining an army of demons, And both are about creating peace between humans and demons,

Similar by way of how people who would normally be enemies come together to work towards a similar goal. This includes agriculture, trading, bartering, weapons, currency, alliances, etc. While Slime focuses more on actions and the relations of various leaders, Maoyuu focuses more on the specifics of the trading, such as the economics and reasoning behind each move. Both are a great watch! That's for sure!

Traveling, intrigues, politics in fantasy kingdom setting. Protagonist interracts with kings and lords talks about politics and troubles common people have. Lot of travel and dialogues between common folk. Show is underrated and must watch if you like Maoyuu Maou Yuusha  

Both have wars involving demon and humans Both have a demon lord and a hero seeking for peace and becoming allies/friends Both demon lord and hero live concealing their real identities (in a way since in Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha, the demon lord Anos was not really acknowledged as a demon lord. 

Also about marrying a demon lord, genders reversed.  

Both conflict between Human race and other world Same with Gate, Maoyuu get some scene when human learning something new. Both wanna seek a peaceful path to end the war 

Main character tries to improve the world with advanced knowledge, but has to accommodate the economic and political impacts. 

The two go well in-depth into how an economy works and both feature two pairs of main characters who, at first didn't have very good chemistry, end up becoming very close towards the end. Themes of money and power control are also constantly present in both, though the two have drastically different settings.  

Has the same art and flow like spice and wolf.  

I'll start by saying that these are different in a lot of ways, but the overall feel and some of the themes are the same. SAO only touches on what Maoyuu Maou Yuusha is all about. While they both have some cool action here and there (SAO has more than Maoyuu Maou Yuusha by far, which isn't a lot if you've seen SAO), they both deal with bigger themes and they are mostly about the relationship between the lead male and female characters. They both are midieval themed with some magic and monsters, and the main character in both is the strongest fighter in the land. They are both love stories but have day to day life and survival themes woven into them. I found myself thinking about SAO occasionally when watching Maoyuu Maou Yuusha. That's why I recommend it if you liked SAO.  read more 

Hero and Demon Lord living together. Both making a contract to protect the Demon Lord. One series takes place in medieval times and deals with economic. The other takes place in modern day and has brother/sister relation as a family.  

Although both series' settings are different, it features a similar theme in which the male protagonist meets a female protagonist who is sought to be different from others. Both series contains a lot of comedy, drama, and dialogue that mostly involves the two main protagonists. Both series has some supernatural themes in them and sometimes deal with conflicts involving other characters/events.  

it took me a while to realize just why this surreal magical feeling was so appealing to me. but at episode 4, it struck me. The good witch of the west features a medieval world with magic, alliances and rules much similar to maoyuu. in both series, the characters are very appealing and the animation and landscapes are done beautiful justice. and most important: the simple but true love between the 2 main characters. slowly trying to discover just how they are feeling and occasionally fighting any unwanted suiters. (I still have to see Yuusha go as far as dressing up as a girl for her sake, though.) Though Roux is a lot more bookish then Yuusha, they both feel the uncertainties of only adding trouble to their girls by being around. and both Mao and Firiel are feisty red heads that talk big when they're actually insecure. if you're looking for a beautiful and magical medieval love story, you need not look further! read more 

There's a similar vibe between these two anime stories where the male character meets a beautiful female, and join a mutual partnership. Furthermore the male characters help and are guided by the female into creating a new world.

War,traiding, politics, romance and action. Even thought very differend in Story and Setting, this key elements are the same.

They have the same both the Demon King has a good manners I dunno if in Maoyuu Maou Yuusha has that great fan service though 

Both series feature hero(es) going after a demon king enemy which unexpectedly happens to be a innocent girl and they begin to develop a relationship.  

same feeling of political plot where one side try maintaining the war while one side trying to stop the war (cordinator vs natural in GSD and demon vs human in maoyuu)... 

-Very similar characters -Romance story set in a non-modern era -Main female character has red hair -Similar feel -The two main characters have very different backgrounds -There are a couple love interests, although both animes tend to focus on the two main character's potential relationship with each other, instead of any other possible relationships. 

So you might be thinking, what one is Sci-fi the other is fantasy? Really these anime are more similiar than you might think, each have this slow meandering feeling. They wander down their story paths taking their time it's a very nice relaxing feeling watching either. Then there is the fack that each don't go where you think they would. Space pirates sounds like fighting and rum and YARRRRRR, nope you get cute highschool girls, spaceship porn and political mumbo jumbo. Oh and lesbians. Maoyuu Maou Yuusha sweet a hero fighting against a demon lord. Nope, potatoes, agriculture and how economies work. All in all both are slightly off the beaten track of more popular anime, but the surprising storeys and relaxing pacing make both very good investments of time. read more 

Main protagonist has same seiyuu (voice actor), story lines both involve a contract between the heroine and protagonist in attempt to change the world. Though Code Geass is in a more modern setting, both stories involve nobility and social hierarchy. Highly recommend Code Geass if you enjoy a story revolving around what defines justices, right or wrong and a hero attempting to change the world they live in! 

Similarities: -Both anime deal with the topic of how war funds the economy on a much bigger scale than most -Both anime have a huge cast of characters to explore the different POVs and situations from each side of the factions -Both the leading male and female characters are tied to each other by the string of fate Differences: -Jormungand is more gun-violence oriented with mature themes that include child solders and arm dealers, while in Maoyuu deals with a huge scale war between humans and demons -Maoyuu is fantasy oriented compare to that of Jormungand that takes a more realistic approach -Jormungand focuses on how child solder Jonah must protect Koko the arm dealer. Koko is very affectionate towards Jonah throughout the series. With some of the key events focusing on their bond. -Maoyuu focuses on the relationship of two different races that join hands to better shape the future of the world. Mauo, the Demon king [female], and Yuusha, the human hero, are the main characters that focus on this bond.  read more 

Same atmosphere, with the badass and strong MC, and it's something about devil too. Dark atmosphere, but Berserk is darker and has more gore than Maoyuu. And the awesomeness between the two anime is similar! Great adventure anime!! 

In both animes humanity is in a deplorable state and people are trying to find a way to lower the starvation rate by inventing new and efficient ways of growing crops/making food. 

There is one interesting aspect to both of those series that not much anime have - the characters have no names and instead are referred by name of their job/specialization. For example Hero, Priestess, Female Knight, Witch, you get the idea.
