Released within a year of each other, the two series utilize similar art styles, but focus around a group of friends hanging out during the summer time period. More specifically, there is a mystery to be solved, but the thoughts of only having that one summer for one last time to make memories as friends.

Until finishing Ano Natsu, I had thought the OBVIOUS similarities between the two were nothing more than examples of the anime industry's lack of originality. But it turns out they were written by the same person, with Ano Natsu linking into Onegai Teacher at the very end. So, it wasn't theft: it was just the writer being lazy. Glad that's clear, now. Two alien Mary Sues come from space. They have the same basic character designs. One becomes a teacher; one becomes a student. They fall in love with scrawny, four-eyed midgets. There's drama.

Both are lovely sweet love comedies that make you smile. Both have enough depth to be interesting and lovable. <3

-The two anime have a fanciful side - story showing a group of friends -Both deal with themes like friendship and unrequited love

Aliens, comedy and bright colors. A slow paced story that is also a story about growing up. What more could you ask for? How about aliens interrupting the day to day lives of normal people and the normal crazy antics of teens.

a female came down from space and the the male protagonist romance in both anime

-Supernatural things and unexpected events happens in their summer -School life/slice of life anime

The similarity lies with the characters. You're going to get a familiar feel regarding many of the characters if you've seen either one. It doesn't hurt that both series share the same character designer and some of the seiyuu have worked on both titles.

Both set in high school and are both are comedies with romance also with a lot of sexual humor. You'll see similar relationships between characters in both shows though one deals with aliens and has a slice of life feel.

someone from space land on earth female protagonist fell in love with the male protagonist

Searching for more crazy love triangle/polygon/whatever? Then check Ano Natsu de Matteru. Both shows are about a group of teenagers living their summer with each other and experiencing feelings of friendship and love. Some characters really resemble each other as well, and it's hard to know who to root for when there's so many lovable people involved.

Aliens, cute heroine, good storytelling. Similar warm fuzzys.

aliens, making a bad movie, having fun in the summer, comedy, love, life....

Both Sankarea and Ano Natsu de Matteru are romance genre. The male protagonists falls in love with a girl that isn't human, and many things occurred to try to stop the male and female protagonists together. However, they still try their best to stay together.

A human protagonist, an un-human girl, the childhood friend and the side characters to make everything going. It has that whole summer rural feel too

Dramatic plot, the main characters draw you in a lot. Cutesyish art style, as well as elements of romance, drama (as I said before), and action. This isn't a perfect recommendation, as Chuuni's romance is a lot more implied, and doesn't fully blossom until the end. But chances are, if you liked this, Chuuni will be a favorite of yours, as well as Toradora!.

another life changing summer anime

The new kid at school claims something that is honestly not believable, and yet what the new kid claims leads the other characters in both series on an unexpected adventure while maintaining the slice-of-life feel throughout.
report Recommended by Yemi_Hikari
Both Anime involve aliens and both anime deal with friendships and growing closer to each other. Both anime are also mellow slice of life for a nice mellow watch.
report Recommended by Yemi_Hikari
A group of friends decide to shoot a movie during summer break; the plot and characters in the movies on both series closely reflect the strange and secret truth about one or more characters or situations in the show even though it's not known by everyone participating in the creation of the film (On 'Haruhi' she's the only one who doesn't know the truth, on 'Ano Natsu De Matteru' most of the characters don't know). That's just about where the similarities end as far as a can recall.
report Recommended by Tinime
They both have a focus on memories/making memories. In both series they're making films that showcase these memories, however it is only a small part of Golden Time and the main focus in Ano Natsu de Matteru

A boys' summer is about dealing with aliens from another planet. One boy meets and falls in love with an alien while the other falls in love with a girl who fights aliens. There is a concept of loss as well.

Both waifus are having a hard time explaining where they come from.
report Recommended by Hesternal
Both are slice-of-life comedies that sometimes wander into more serious and emotional territory. They rely heavily on a group dynamic, which focuses on a couple members while the rest support. However, every character has a unique character design. Both series begin in a school setting with a new student and groups forming with a goal in mind, and they are eventually successful.

- The friendship layout is strikingly similar. (Boy in glasses falls for a pretty girl he just met and his best friend for several years secretly likes him.) - They actually have a lot of differences (Shigatsu deals with music while AnoNatsu deals with film making). - But in both series you get to see the concept of being "friendzoned" several times. - The female romantic interest (Kaori in Shigatsu and Ichika in AnoNatsu) also leaves the main character alone, in her own way.

Both are set in High School Both are romance/Slice of Life Both have a protagonist who is into filming

A mysterious lady come from outer space to the earth , make friends and enjoy her life . Can she holds this enjoyment forever or she have to go back to the place from where she have come from ? To know that you can watch either of the series/movie , one is more romantic and another is more dramatic .

Similarities - *lead female character deciding to respond negatively to MC's confession at first but giving in eventually for similar reasons *a situation having (over)dramatic denial and confusion followed by some cheesy romance *a seemingly impossible relationship forged which came to a quick inevitable end *male and female leads living together even before their relationship started *both male leads were about the same age (2-3 years apart) differences- *Ano Natsu de Matteru's setting was the present world where Plastic memories' setting was the (somewhat) future world *Ano Natsu de Matteru had a love chain or triangle of sorts, whereas Plastic memories was more straightforward in this sector(not entirely though). *High school romance (A.N.d.M)  read more

Something about aliens? This anime is a bit similar to engaged to the unidentified, it has romance but it doesn't have a lot of good laughs. Well I guess it is really similar because of the fact that the main characters suddenly lived under the same roof suddenly, and one of the MC is some sort of alien. I guess I've made my point. Hope that this will help you :)

These anime are based on pure entertainment, both will keep you entertained and asking you questions all the time. The plot of both is a group of friends on summer holidays, the only difference is that Ano Natsu de Matteru have more romance, and Shoujo-tachi have more comedy. Definetly, both are good and similar slice of life.
report Recommended by sergioKKali
Both series' main characters meet kind of accidentally, but ends up falling in love with each other. The ending is somewhat similar as well. If you like Tsuki ga Kirei, you will also like And Natsu de Matteru.

Both anime have a leading male character who has a female character always by their side to revive them. There are also lots of funny scenes in both anime.
report Recommended by Nyaroha
The concept of an alien girl coming to earth and learning new things, meeting new people and living with the future main love interest, while a serious story in the shadows unveil itself over each episode to eventually fight for the ones who matter. Episode 1 itself has the favorable similarities from the get go.
report Recommended by MaestroHaru
As you watch Ano Natsu de Matteru, you will notice that the story's characters have large similarities to Nisekoi's. While the anime starts slowly, it contains quite a bit of romance and presents the same idea of how one of the characters force themselves to hold back from who they love.
report Recommended by dadadaking9
Both have summertime settings, and use that to tell a story in which a girl of mysterious origin appears, and shakes up the established dynamics of a group of a friends. In Uta~Kata it's more supernatural, whereas Ano Natsu is scifi, with the girl being an alien. Another difference is that Uta~Kata, the supernatural elements are used to help illustrate the coming of age themes, whereas in Ano Natsu, the scifi elements are more there to provide a little flavor to the drama

Relationship drama between both shows are pretty similar, in that they involve a circle of love and a love triangle (kinda) with the main character

Both have - weird intriguing premise - likeable characters - similar feel - both relaxing and fun - better then they seem to be

Both animes have the story argument almost the same, take place in the summer and convey similar feelings. The two animes tell the friendship between people from two different worlds.

Both shows have a focus on a group of friends bonding, have alien girls who come to Earth, and take place in a chill summertime setting with nice visuals. They differ in that Ano Natsu Is more drama based, and focuses more on the romance and love polygon shenanigans, while Lagrange has more CGDCT elements and mecha battles

Shingu is about an alien invasion in 2070 while Ano Natsu de Matteru is more about a alien secretly hiding her identity both shows contain a lot of plot twist between characters maybe more in shingu than Ano Natsu de Matteru however Shingu doesn't have much romance but it does have some. They all both contain narration from the lead male characters who are both nerdy though one has feelings for someone the other is more a romantic focus and is obvious to the feelings someone has for him.  read more

In both series a heroine of a non-human species travels to Japan to look for a certain thing she lacks. She meets a human named Kaito. Both series have an element of love complicated by the heroine's secret identity. They both have sad moments as well as cheerful ones. While Ano Natsu de Matteru revolves around film making, Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch takes on music as its main focus.

The female characters are aliens who come from space and end up falling in love in Earth. Ano Natsu de Matteru is more of a drama but also has the nice romantic comedy touch making it enjoyable for those who like Narue no Sekai
report Recommended by Lain
Both anime have this kind of carefree and fun slice of life feeling; except Ano Natsu focuses most on a romance, while Railgun is more about comedy, then action.

Both stories are about an alien girl come to earth and accidentally killed the Hero. Both Heroine are taller and older than the Hero.

Just as I recommend Onegai Teacher to you, this is also had the same atmosphere of both romance and drama.

Both have a group of friends having fun together. Hyouka focuses more on mystery, humor and slight romance while Ano Natsu de Matteru focuses on a story between a few friends and their unforgettable summer! Both are very nice and relaxing as well as very intriguing.

Both are romance/school involving multiple love triangles. Also both about shooting a movie for a film club.

Sora no Method really reminded me of Ano Natsu de Matteru, especially with the ending which gave me a total nostalgy vibe! Both also have vaglie similar storylines of an alien/something not from earth joining a group of people/friends and living their daily life until the end where she then leaves/disappears. They also have somewhat similar art styles so I'm sure if you liked Ano Natsu de Matteru you'll also like Sora no Method and visa versa.

Both series belong to the categories that are defined as romantic comedy but also contains sci fi themes. In both series, the main protagonist meets an strange being and bonds with them. As the series progresses, the main protagonist and the girl begins to develop feelings towards one another. Both series contain drama, comedy, action, and of course romance later on. And with drama of course brings forth love triangles, misunderstandings, and even wild chases later on.

Comedy, romance, drama, and stage acting/movie filming what else could you ask for more? Both of these series are great for anime fans who enjoy a slow paced yet meaningful story. Ano Natsu does has a sci-fi side that Tsuyokiss lacks. However, both series are little gems that any anime fan should add to their collection.
report Recommended by Stark700
- Both have love triangles - Both have one girl left heart broken - Both of the main male characters have great hobby's e.g: manga artist and film maker - Both have the same line of story from the beginning of the anime. - Both start of meeting the girl by accident.

Apart from the fact that both anime (ovie the one series the other) have the romantic feature as their main feature they have a very similar way on showing how protagonists deal with situations unknown to them!!! They also have the fact of the unknown for different reason each! I shouldn't say more because it would be a spoiler but in my opinion these both have more similarities than meets the eye!
