I stopped updating my list in this site but Im still watching anime from time to time. Im not watching as much anime anymore because I prefer reading manga/manhwa/manhua/wuxia novels (or watching asian dramas..) nowadays. But I still drop by in this site occasionally to see what's new. I'm keeping this original about me section which I wrote when I was 17 as a reminder of my cringy and edgy teenage years.

Hi this is Xynic, I'm the type of guy who removes the dishes first before peeing in the sink..lol jk. My brother introduced me to anime (Samurai X or Rorouni Kenshin) when I was five and I have been watching anime ever since. I used to be just a casual anime fan; just another kid who tries go home early from school to catch the daily afternoon airing of his favorite anime. But what was once just a hobby, now turned into an addiction.
It was around 2012 when I started exploring other genres of anime and started to get more into the medium. It was also around that time when I started watching Clannad. The only reason I started watching it is because Clannad: After Story was ranked #1 here in MAL at the time. I thought the first season was okay but the first half of the second season was almost unwatchable because of how slow it is. Good thing I continued watching because Clannad turned out to be one of the biggest reasons why I'm still watching anime to this day. It was the first and only time a form of media was able to make me shed manly tears. I have always thought that it was impossible for me to cry from watching a show because I'm not really an emotional person, and my lack of empathy for the characters sometimes even scares me. I think it added to the experience that I didn't know anything about Clannad prior to watching it, and that it's popular for making people cry.
I'm pretty open-minded when it comes to anime so the genre(s), date aired or target demographic won't really stop me from watching an anime. If an anime piqued my interest, I'm going to watch it (same thing goes for manga). Speaking of manga, I seem to have taken a liking to shoujo manga. Maybe it's because most of the time the main characters marry each other in the end and leaves a nice conclusion to the romance. I'm just a sucker for happy endings. Probably also the reason why I generally avoid anime or manga that people describe as "realistic" because in the anime community, if the series had a bittersweet end or just something happens in the show that didn't go according to plan, it is instantly called "realistic." Good things happen in real life too you know.
I don't like dropping shows because I prefer to finish what I've started and I'm a masochistic bastard, but I do drop some shows sometimes because there are anime out there that I just can't finish because they have a similar effect to sleeping pills or sometimes I just don't have the time and energy to finish them anymore. Giving a rating to shows I dropped is optional for me. If I feel like I haven't watched enough episodes to give it a reasonable rating then I won't. I don't claim to have an amazing taste in anime, I just like what I like and hate what I hate, sometimes for the stupidest reasons. What's good or bad will always be subjective because no one person is the same so I would appreciate it if people will respect my opinions.
I tend to be overly critical when watching anime and it kinda makes watching anime less fun. I used to focus more on the good things rather than the bad which makes watching anime a whole lot more enjoyable, but I seem to have already reached the point where I've watched most of the anime that caters to my preferences so you can't really blame me for being cynical sometimes (btw, my username is not from the word "Cynic." My username "Xynic" is just something I made up because it sounds cool so no need to find any deep meaning from it).
The people I hate the most in this site are elitists. People who claim that they have "god-tier" taste in anime even insulting people who liked the anime they hated and vice-versa. If you're an elitist I would appreciate it if you don't talk to me because I would probably just end up having a long unnecessary debate with you. If you're not an elitist then feel free to talk to me. It may not seem like it, but I'm the nicest guy I know.
My manga list isn't updated by the way, because I use an app to keep track on my manga updates. Though I sometimes update my manga list here when I have time.
Welp that would be all. Sorry for this wall-of-text of an introduction. I just have too much time on my hands right now.

How I Rate Anime:
10 - It was so good that I fell into a depression when it ended and I can't
stop thinking about it for weeks (Does not necessarily needs to be perfect). 9 - Really good but I can't seem to give it a perfect 10. 8 - Very enjoyable. 7 - Good, but lacking. 6 - Squeezed some enjoyment. 5 - Just plain boring. 4 - Painful to watch. (due to really painful facepalms) 3 - Finishing it would make me masochistic. 2 - Pure Torture. 1 - I will buy a plane ticket to Japan and will personally burn
down the building of whoever made that anime.
Coming from your discussion of space battleship yamato. Just a word of warning. zetsu_shoren is one of the largest trolls we have on MAL. (just look at his profile) Don't take anything he says seriously. I was actually responsible for kicking him out after he exploited my profile. He may still be lurking with other accounts, just be weary and don't get mixed up with him.
>I'm writing this review at the risk of getting viciously mauled by an angry mob of Love Hina fans who will do anything to defend their beloved anime
