Man, sucks to be in the tertiary cast. Those character designs are easily of the most uninspiring ones I have seen in a while.

Overall, another mediocre-to-slightly decent episode. Most of the events here were easily predictable, characters remain as uninteresting as ever and story progression felt extremely unsatisfying. Honestly, a few plot twists would be highly appreciated because leaving the remarkable OST aside, this series has been quite standard when it comes to shounen genre. Good music composition but nothing really special to add to the mix... for now.

P.S.: 13 weapons representing 12 months... uh, did I miss something here?

The subtitles mentioned 13 month series, not 12. There's probably something special about this 13th month which we dunno yet.

wOw. they really keep building the hype. i absolutely loved this episode .there were so many great moments, it’s really really hard for me to express what i liked in particular about it all. Khun being a little shit at the end might be up there as one of the top moments though hahahah. but i’m also glad we got to see Shibisu be a badass!! i’m not sure i remember that happening in the webtoon, although it has been a while since i read the beginning. So exciting!! i’m glad that the fast pacing doesn’t seem to be killing it.

The Rachel look-alike, it couldn't be her from foresight...could it be?

Shibisu being all that blatant about his killer arts, hah that was a good chuckle. The next to take on the trio of Anak, Shibisu and Hatsu is Cloaker's team and Laure's team whilst Anaak stays dormant. Hatz stays good in the weapon department while Shibisu is fighting for gender equality.

Clearly Laure has a hidden secret about his Shinsoo, and Anak has shown her true colours with her weapon Green April, which Bam's weapon Black March is reacting profusely. A Jahad princess like Yuri, she is also another threat.

Even with Leroro's interference, the match between Bam and Anak's team (plus others capable of their own skills), the winner of not only the Crown's Game, but also the right for the 13 Month Ignition Weapon series (which makes us think what truly are these weapons made of).

And then Khun, easily eclipses the Crown, but the hidden nuances, what will truly happen in this Crown Game? Really getting the rolls now!

I have a legitimate question. To those who think it was the best episode, have you read the webtoon? I personally think that the pacing of this episode wasn't great, though I guess it doesn't matter if you're an anime only viewer.

Still, I think it was a good episode. I enjoy watching everything get animated, I just think it would have been better to have more episodes to work with so things wouldn't get left out/switched around so much. Still a solid 8/10 so far this season for me.

I read the webtoon five, if not more, years ago, so I don't remember much from it, which is perhaps why I also thought it was the best episode so far. To be fair, I also thought episode three was good, but this one somehow ended up feeling even better despite me not really liking tournament/game arcs. The pacing was still a bit rushed but acceptable for an anime, if anything was skipped it was probably during the fights, which I don't mind as much. I would, of course, still prefer if they gave this anime more episodes.

Out of curiosity, how can you (and seemingly a large number of other people) even recall which scenes were left out/switched? Did you re-read the manhwa from the beginning when the anime was announced? I couldn't even recollect who
was. I don't recognize her looks at all. Although it's possible they didn't show her in the manhwa this early and I never finished the whole thing, so I may have never had the change to meet her.

I actually didn't start reading until I watched the first episode of the anime , then I got super interested and binged until about midway through the second season of the webtoon, so a ton of things are still really fresh in my mind. Her appearance is pretty much the same as it was in the manhwa, though the biggest change came

Though it was hinted a lot in the webtoon, it wasn't actually until very late in the first part of the story where it was confirmed.

Again, I do think this was a good episode, but I feel episode 3 was the best so far in terms of adapting the webtoon. I think ~24 episodes would have made it better, but I'm still happy with how it's turning out. Perhaps if the series hits big enough they can think about bigger seasons, assuming they have plans for sequels.

This was fun. Khun is quite an interesting guy.

The lizard girl and the napping guy's interactions were funny.

The bald guy mercilessly beat two people up. hahaha.

I am curious since the anime is 1/4 complete: what is this story actually about? Because of the number of praise I've been hearing about its source material for years, it can't just be about climbing the tower, I'm guessing. Are they going to be exploring some complex themes later on?

Not this season, this season doesn't cover world building/complex themes that much. Kinda setting the relation of each characters and what to expect in tog. It's very slow compared to next seasons and little things happen here and there. You basically won't get anything complex until mid second season where the bigger picture is revealed. Until then we kinda don't know what is happening and why it is happening. Season 1 kinda sets the tone, so it's important.

Setup is whats loved by the audience, it feeds their mind with ideas for how the plot should go, next and get them hyped to consume next arc.

RWBY, Star Wars and plenty other shows got to become popular because of the setup in the first, place, Han´s chaotic neutral, so the audience was hooked to see what he´d do, Vader and Obi Wan had history which got passed down by bread cumbs to Luke, RWBY spent 2 volumes building up the events of the 3rd while building up the quality of the spectacle.

The Prequels failed because what has setup didnt interest the audience as much, they should´ve dwelled in the Rule of Two lore of the Sith, the child actor for Anakin should´ve been better and the Betrayal in the 3rd movie could´ve arisen under better motivation (like Anakin spending a few weeks without combat and starting to show signs of PTSD and addiction to return to that environment, which Palps exploits to get him to turn into a sithlord, which could´ve been foreshadowed way back since the 1st movie).

And the moment you say: "I have faith in X" it actually means you dont have any, actions speak louder than words, why needing to repeat you have faith in X, if the quality of the setup itself should speak for itself? Modern authors lost their way in setting up events.

I have a really hard time being invested in this show, but it's not bad. There were some fun moments, especially thanks to "Jogging guy", who's starting to grow on me a bit.
I'd like Bam to have a bit more of personality, though I understand why he is like this considering who taught him everything. I didn't expect Rachel to be lile that, but she's quite messed up, isn't she ? That's making things interesting.

The episode was exciting and great, this anime doesn’t do another thing than level up the tension. Laure is revealed like a shinsoo’s manipulator and a very strong individual. Anak has anger issues, like the very strong but mad character, Hatsu has like a more calmed personality. I hope Bam doesn’t lose that sword. Still a mystery Rachel allowing to kill Bam.

bam dosent deserve the sword in the first place
he should loose it and try to win these tests with his own skill
right now he is just getting lucky every time.
the plot armor for bam seems bullet proof

Overall the adaptation is good. But some of the little but significant changes (like making Khun someone more emotionnal - and Rak a joke), bug me. It's totally fine if the series doesn't get a second season, but if it does... some of those might have some consequences. I get why the changes and the cuts, from a production standpoint, but I can't help to feel some of those cuts would have been needed and some of the changes will ask for some big balancing act in the later parts.

Admittedly, this show is getting better with each episode. It still has a lot to do to make up for that atrocious start.

There are a few series where a different character probably should have been the main character. For example, Rock Lee in Naruto, or even Klein in SAO (though this doesn't apply to the abridged series, which is to say the superior version). I think jumpsuit guy is one such character.

I thought I'd hate it since the first episode was not how I imagined since reading the manwha, but it grew on me from Ep 2. I actually like the music too and the voice acting surprised me. I actually feel disgust for Rachel in the webtoon but in the anime she seems more likable and complex loll.

The comedy is more gag/cute funny imo compared to the webtoon, really like how Shibisu and Hatz is portrayed :b

and Lauroe lmfao

Anyway, we'll see how it goes..

“Betraying a girl is the same as making an enemy of the world”. This quote by Rachel is still one of the terrifying thoughts in my life. Though I have been following this manhwa for a long time now, it's hard to understand what compels her to go on. It's more than just personal.

When someone asks me why I like anime, I'd say Just Because.

Yup, I LOVED this episode. I have never been so impatient of wanting more episodes, though I can read this on Webtoon, I really prefer it animated and it would ruin the fun if I already knew what would have happened.

There's something about Khun and his bag, and why Rachel.. WHYYY would you agree to kill our baby Bam? This bitch.

Anaak will always be badass. There's still more to the Black March, I'm so damn curious. I loved Anaak's team too, they all fit together.

Yeah that's who I meant haha. Even with the spoiler tag I didn't want to say the name in case you wanted to go back and read it if you were unsure. She was definitely suspicious in the manhwa, but just that one line in the anime kinda seemed like pushing it too much

I'm not a reader of the series, only an anime watcher, but I could say with certainty that I am hooked on Tower of God and cannot wait for it come weekly.

Khun is a tricky calculating fighter. His briefcase bag seem magical in nature, being able to make copies and being able to store lot mass amount of items.

Maybe its Rachael, not entirely 100% sure, but listening to her agreeing to kill Bam, makes me sad. Whats her reasoning/goal? Is her life threaten in anyway by her teammates?

Anak turns out to be a princess too, totally unexpected. She totally focused on Bam, is she another wifu in disguise? And that other girl on Rachael team seem to know Anak and calling her an impostor? Probably another princess?

I hope anime production isn't halted by the virus.

all these people must be watching another anime because this is show is tremendously boring and totally inconsistent
The Lizard girl tries to make a bet with Bam. If his team wins the Crown Game, then she’ll give him her whip. If his team loses, she gets the sword. Our protagonist smartly replies that he has no reason to take this bet… even though he almost did so anyways. Why? Because he didn’t want to keep causing trouble for his team. On the other hand, I just can’t reconcile his current characterization with the same kid who was ready and willing to kill a stranger in cold blood in the first episode.

the setup on the first episode is kill all others participant, after he being attacked around, he is just trying to be defensive. yeah but that's it. it inconsistent only on that first episode. he will have a consistently weak character until later on.

This is really getting very exciting, every new episode you crave for more, even more answers now. Insane xD

So the Jahad princess is the sister of that girl who borrowed Bam her sword, normal she would be upset xD

So is that 100% the real Rachel??? If yes can't wait to see their faces when they will confirm that it's her.

Btw, been Loving the ED.
