I'm generous when it comes to rating shows.
A show may be considered "mid" or worse (be it plot or animation), but if it has good OST, my overall score will always get a boost!
I think anime music isn't appreciated enough, and I'm not talking only about songs/OP/EDs. I usually listen to complete OST of the shows I've finished, searching if any would "click" with me. Rarely do I finish the search without finding at least a couple of unique and interesting ones worth saving on my playlist.
If you like music, try to listen to the OST of shows you've completed. More often than not, you'll find hidden gems you probably haven't even noticed during runtime; or maybe didn't even think could exist in that particular anime.

Most of my 10/10 shows are the ones I'd recommend to anyone.
These shows impacted my worldview and contributed to my personal growth, more or less. That is why top point is more like me showing gratitude and appreciation to the creation, rather than dissecting it by criteria and analyzing "like a critic".
10/10 shows are IMO ones you can re-watch several times, easily. Especially if it's in a company of people who haven't seen them yet.
When it comes to low ratings, you can see that there are very few of them.
The reason is simple. I don't rate shows I drop or have on hold, no matter if I've seen 10% or 90% total episodes (though I hardly stick around that long if anime isn't engaging enough for me).
*The exception being the continuations (Sequels, OVA etc.) of shows I've seen before.*
Dropped the show? Then it's unfair to rate it - I think that's how it should be done.
Anyways, OST people. Don't sleep on anime OSTs!
