INTRODUCTION

　The Anime Watching Challenges Club (AWCc) welcomes you to the third edition of our Open House event at the 2024 MAL Bunkasai ~Our School Festival~.

　Within our booth, you'll find a series of challenges designed to introduce you to our club and an opportunity to dip your toes into what AWCc members do year-round—watching all kinds of anime! Completing the 2024 Open House challenge will earn you a Bunkasai participation ticket, the opportunity to use our badges... and if you decide to join us in the AWCc, you can earn your first club points as well. (We use them to claim roles on our Discord server, measure our individual progress, and to engage in good-natured bragging.)

　Started in 2016, our club currently has over 500 active challenges, with more than 12,500 badges available for completing them! Our members engage in their chosen challenges and watch anime at their own pace. The club offers at least one new limited challenges every month, regularly releases new permanent challenges, and offers collaboration challenges with multiple other MAL clubs. We have something for every anime fan, new or old!

NOTICE to our club members: after the 2024 MAL Bunkasai ends, this challenge will be imported to the club. You'll be able to claim your points then.

EXPLANATION

　Our challenges are usually structured in a similar way: points - banner - general information/rules/difficulties - challenge list - badges. For the 2024 Open House, we will offer the challenge in four parts. You're allowed to do any part you like in any order you choose, but it's easiest to do them in the order presented. To successfully complete a part, you must complete the steps as instructed.

　Filling in at least one part and making a turn-in post will allow you to claim your 2024 MAL Bunkasai participation ticket. It's super cute again this year! If you want to continue on, we have fun rewards in AWCc. In addition to our badges, we award club points per completed difficulty. These points are granted once your challenge has been successfully inspected. Don't worry about making mistakes—you'll be notified if there are issues to be corrected. Once you have earned enough validated points you can claim special badges, use Discord server titles, and move up the club's Hall of Fame ranks.

　With how brief the 2024 MAL Bunkasai is, we won't inspect or award points here as we normally would. After the event ends here, it will reopen in our club as a time-limited event. Once that challenge thread has opened up, you may move what you've been working on over and continue on. This means there is no requirement to watch any of the anime included in the challenge while Bunkasai is going. (But it can't hurt to see what you can get started on for Parts I-II-III!)

PART 1 : CLUB INTRODUCTION

　— The first step for all AWCc challenges is to make a participation post. Using the "New reply" button on this webpage, type some text like "placeholder" or "reserved," then submit your post.

　— To make things easier for our participants, our challenges come with a standard BBcode snippet to use as a guide while you track your challenge's progress as you work to complete it. This code also lets the club's inspectors efficiently check your submission after you finish. 　— Open up the profile editor and add information about yourself in the "My Details" section. You can choose to use either the classic or modern display—so long as you say something about you. PART 2 : CHALLENGE BASICS

　The club's first steps out of the way, you study the basic challenge structure. The flyer seems to make it all simple enough to understand so you start to plan your anime watch out as the club members keep up their banter nearby.

💠 2024 MAL Bunkasai Only!

[X] Obtain 3 (or more) different event tickets at the 2024 MAL Bunkasai.
　— While AWCc Open House is an amazing event, you should experience a variety of what the 2024 MAL Bunkasai has to offer. You need to participate in at least 3 others and share your tickets (not counting this event). If the event you participated in was a forum event, be sure to link your post.

💠 "Sharing is Caring"
[X] Link an anime you completed and rated a 8 or higher, which is at least 15 minutes long.
　— Search for a series you completed and enjoyed before this event started. In the BBcode, replace the "00000" with the MAL number of your chosen anime and "SERIES" with its Main Title, as listed atop its entry. The number and (URL-friendly) name make up the URL for an anime. For example, the series " https://myanimelist.net/anime/38412/Qing_Chi_Hong_Xiaodou_Ba " is number "38412" and the main title would be "Qing Chi Hong Xiaodou Ba!". 💠 Goals
[X] Watch your chosen anime during the 2024 MAL Bunkasai or the AWCc event period that follows.
　— When you watch an anime for an AWCc challenge you need to ensure it is set to completed status and has a start date and an end date. Adding tags and notes isn't required but may help you organize and remember details. When inspecting challenges, staff and helpers may invalidate (mark for review/replacement) any anime that has the wrong status or lacks start and end dates. At the core, accurately recording your anime means: 1) adding it to your anime list, 2) adding a start date when the first episode is watched, 3) marking your episode progress as you watch, and finally 4) changing the series' status to complete, then setting an end date. Following these steps can help you avoid invalidations.

💠 Anime with Others
[X] Watch another participant's suggested anime.
　— Look through the posts of the people that have posted on this thread and look for the item that asked about an anime you watched and liked. Use something that you haven't seen before. State here the chosen anime, the username of the other participant and add a link to their post. Link the series as we did before. Replace "LINK" with their post link and "USER" with their name. It's always a good idea to take a screenshot of any challenge requirement that might change, so you may want to capture the user's post in case they change their challenge before your challenge is inspected.
[X] Watch two series from our AWCc University Alums Records.
　— AWCc members engage in limited challenge events all year long. This summer, the AWCc University challenge featured 178 anime completed by at least 5 members. Select two of these series from the Hall of Fame listing and watch them.

GENERAL WATCHING RULES

　You've moved into the main part of our event now—choosing your challenge parameters and matching anime to requirements. Remember: you're not required to watch any of these anime during the 2024 MAL Bunkasai if you don't want to. (Depending on your choices, you might not have the time!) Instead, this challenge is about planning for the watching challenge that will open up in the club after Bunkasai is over. If you manage to complete it before then, you will be allowed to just repost it.

　As we offer a wide variety of challenges, this event has been designed to let you pick which things you're interested in and as such, it has been split on two parts: Cultural Festival and Sports Day. Each part works slightly differently, so please be sure to read the specifics of each challenge.

Previously completed series aren't allowed. Neither is re-watching.
　— Series previously started, but not finished, may be used. Add a mark to them (ex. a symbol or note).
　— Airing can be used, but you must complete the series, so you can only turn-in the challenge after the series has finished airing.
Any type is allowed, but must be equal to or longer than 15 minutes (total). At least ONE of the series in part III and IV must have:
　— 10 episodes or more (of any duration) or
　— 4 episodes or more (20 minutes or more per episode)
The start date is the same for everyone (Nov 16, 2024), so if you joined late but have completed anime during this period, you can use it.
　— In the club we require that members add the start and end dates on your anime list for any anime used for our challenges.
　— The "Sports Day" part does not start until the challenge has moved to AWCC and the team matchups have been made.
You cannot use the same entry more than once across all parts.
You must remove any unused item or event.
You may plan out any difficulty you choose—even if you decide to watch and turn in a different one later.
You may work on any part at any time, but you must complete it and turn in before the time period for that section ends.
These rules apply to all anime to be watched for the entire Open House, with the following exceptions:
　— The "Sports Day" part does not allow previously started anime.
　— The "Sports Day" part does not start until the challenge has moved to AWCC and the team matchups have been made.

PART 3 : CULTURAL FESTIVAL
(AKA: Club Effort Challenge / WE WIN TOGETHER!)
(IMPORTANT: The challenge period will vary per section once we move to AWCC)

　　Arriving at the AWCc's Cultural Festival you're immediately struck by how much there is to see. The school grounds are covered in food stalls and game booths. The sounds of various performances echo across the courtyards. Lines stretch out classroom doors as class events draw eager crowds.
　At the gates you spot a Stamp Rally booth passing out cards. How many stamps will you manage to get? To get the most out of the Cultural Festival you'll need to fill up your cards. Time to get to it!

　This limited challenge revolves around the Cultural Festival's Stamp Rally. The Stamp Rally requires you to fill a Stamp Card by visiting (watching anime) one event (requirement) in each part of the Cultural Festival: The Courtyard, The Performances, The Classrooms, The Club Events, and The Festivities. You can fill up to 4 Stamp Cards this way, earning yourself club points each time.

　Every time a participant completes a Stamp Card, the whole club earns Tally towards bonus club points. The entire club benefits when we dig deep into our cooperative spirit and fill as many Stamp Cards as possible to make the Cultural Festival a great success!

Stamp Rallies Completed:
Easy: 1 Full Stamp Card, for 5 items in total
Medium: 2 Full Stamp Cards, for 10 items in total
Hard: 3 Full Stamp Cards, for 15 items in total
Conquered: 4 Full Stamp Cards, for 20 items in total
　— There are extra requirements, you only need to do those required by your difficulty.
　— Only one difficulty should be completed and turned-in.
　— No second run (x2) available.
Items cannot be repeated between Stamp Cards.

CULTURAL FESTIVAL AREAS
(You can just find an anime that fits the criteria. There's no need to watch during the 2024 MAL Bunkasai period.)

I. THE COURTYARD
　The entryway is crowded with stalls serving up food and spots to play games. Plenty of people flow in and out of the rest of the campus from here and you spot plenty of opportunities to collect stamps on your cards.

Watch an anime directly related to a series you have previously watched OR complete two series directly related
　— Regarding the first option, the previously watched anime must have been watched before this event started. State which anime is it if there's more than one series listed under Related Entries. Regarding the second option, the two related series don't need to be for this item. You may watch one here and another on a different item, but state which item it is.

　— A regular Movie is one with a duration longer than an hour per episode. A short Movie is one with a duration that is 15 minutes or less per episode. For the short Movies, the total duration doesn't need to be over 15 minutes.

Watch a School anime OR one that started airing in Winter
　— Winter includes anime that began airing during the following months: January, February or March.

PART 4 : SPORTS DAY

(IMPORTANT: The challenge period will vary per section once we move to AWCC)

　The time is nigh.... Sports Day is here! You're about to be assigned a team and will have to strive to complete events as best as you can in order to help your side to victory. Don't give up, because your clubmates are relying on your very best efforts in this battle!

　The Sports Day is a Team Battle that will only take place in AWCC. Once the 2024 MAL Bunkasai ends, this part of the challenge will become active.

　The Sign Up Period to join a team will be from November 16, 2024 to November 24, 2024 in the Open House thread at AWCc (here). Once Bunkasai ends and the Open House moves to our club, the Team will be announced and anime can be started from that date. Team composition will be split mostly randomly, weighted towards distributing club members of similar watching habits across the teams.

　You will help your team achieve victory by completing Thresholds of specialized items. You may complete any items from the listings, with every two meaning a new Threshold. You can complete up to four Thresholds. At the end of the event, the team with the greatest number of Thresholds attained will be declared the winner and granted bonus points.

Thresholds:
Novice: 2 items in total
Intermediate: 4 items in total
Advanced: 6 items in total
Expert: 8 items in total
　— There are extra requirements, you only need to do those required by your difficulty.
　— Only one difficulty should be completed and turned-in.
　— No second run (x2) available.

Due to the complexity of some of the items, please feel free to ask on the AWCc Discord (Open House channel) if an anime will be valid for an item.

SPORTS DAY EVENTS
(You can just find an anime that fits the criteria. There's no need to watch during the 2024 MAL Bunkasai period.)

Tug-of-War

Watch a TV-type anime with a TV-type Sequel/Prequel season within 0.20 points difference
— Screenshots of both series are suggested. State if you are using the TV-type Sequel or TV-type Prequel score. The Sequel or Prequel used must appear directly related to the anime watched for this item BUT it doesn't need to be something you already watched. The "rated difference" refers to the main score of both series. For example, a TV-series scored 7.75 with a TV-prequel scored 7.63 would be valid.

[X] Relay Race
Watch an anime with exactly 3 directly Related Entries listed
— Look for the "Related Entries" section that's usually under the "Synopsis" on an anime page. There must be only 3 series listed as directly related on the page of the anime you pick. Adaptation listed will count as part of the group.

[X] Obstacle Course
Watch an anime that has directly Related Entries listed to at least 4 different types of anime
— Look for the "Related Entries" section. Adaptation listed can't be used. Keep in mind that series with too many listed relations will be folded, under "More related entries". The different types are: TV, OVA, ONA, CM, PV, Music, Movie, Special, and TV Special.

[X] Volleyball
Watch an anime that, together with its direct relations, started airing in three consecutive years
— State the related series if there's more than one listed. Each of the related series should appear listed under "Related Entries". All three anime must have started airing in a different consecutive year. You don't need to have watched the related entries. For example, you watch an anime with a 2022 aired date, a relation that aired in 2023 and another that is still airing from 2024 would be valid.

[X] Ball Toss
Watch an anime that has 15 or more links in its "Information" section
— Every link included within the Information section of the entry counts. Links may be found in Type, Premiered, Producers, Licensors, Studios, Genres, Themes, and Demographics.

[X] Long Jump
Watch an anime with 4 episodes or more AND that had one irregular pause in its release schedule
— See the release schedule on the episodes tab of the entry page (not available for every anime). Every episode should have been released at the same interval except once. For example, If an episode was released weekly on Saturdays but it skipped a week or more between episodes 6 and 7, it would be valid. An anime which had multiple breaks in its schedule would not. Neither would an anime where the date regularly shifted. Any anime which released on the same numeric date of equally spaced timeframes but one qualifies, as does any anime which released at the same time of the month—such as the first Monday of the month—at regular intervals but once.

[X] Marathon
Watch an anime with 2 episodes or more AND has a duration of 26 to 42 minutes per episode

[X] Soccer/Football
Watch an anime that is exactly 11 episodes AND has a minimum duration of 22 minutes per episode

[X] Gymnastics
Watch an anime that has 2 different Voice Actors/Actresses voicing multiple characters
— State the VAs used. Both of them must be from the same language. The characters they are voicing can be main or supporting.

[X] Cavalry Battle
Watch an anime that features Horses
— Alternative listing here. It refers to real animals. Humanoids ones can't be used. State the character used. It can be listed as main or supporting. The character must appear listed on the provided tag list and their site (not necessarily on MAL). If you find a different horse not listed on the provided sites, please provide plenty of evidence and sources (ie. episode, timestamp, a screenshot, etc.).

Watch an anime with 2 or more characters that fill different Shogi roles
