It's possible for AO to take part in another universe while still being a "direct sequel."

Still.....I hate alternate universe endings and sequels, and i hate time travel sequels, because it just makes it seem like "Ok, so the original is garbage and never happened" after all that work went into the original. So this has to be a direct sequel with no separate universe or anything. Otherwise that'll make for a trash script.

I don't enjoy this series at all. Some ignorant, selfish brats are doing things like maneuvering a robot with no guidance or anything, the main character has to be reminded about the G-monsters and the corals and acts as if he's got an IQ of 60. Oh damn I flew to the coral accidentally! Duh... The ship captain doesn't seem adult at all since he wants to shoot down the smugglers which owe him a missing part and the girl's father speaks of her friend in front of her tent and just thinks that she won't hear it or won't act.

Dropped even though I have enjoyed the similar anime Rinne no Lagrange.

I guess it's too bad for you, then, that Japan seems to love making use of alternate universes in many of its sci-fi stories. And I'm pretty sure they, on the whole, don't see the use of said plot device as being "bad" or "trash."

Once again - really?
I liked Rinne no Lagrange as well, but this is much much better. Pay attention - and half your claims are debunked.

HA You're hilarious. You did not bother reading what i said. I said, alternate universe SEQUELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IDNGAF if the WHOLE plot is centered around an alternate universe, but a sequel to a series that is set in a universe apart from it IS trash. These are often called spin-offs as well, not direct sequels.

It should be labeled as a shounen, like E7 was. Won't give any reason to look down upon it though.

really liked the second episode, even though i'm a bit skeptical of how this whole sequel thing will work out. considering that the original E7 took a while to become really awesome, let's wait and see.

one thing that comes to mind though, and i had to look this up ... at the end of the E7 series nirvash tells both renton and eureka that half of all living beings will go to an alternate universe and will return once humans and corals (?) "become one".

considering that eureka and renton had a happy ending and ao is very likely their child ... wouldn't ao himself then be the reason why corals come back?

Ohohohoho now there's a theory. What if when they came back they were attacked presuming they came in around the time Ao himself was born.

WOW. SO. MUCH. LOVE.

Another fantastic episode.

I am still leaning toward time travel, direct squeal just seems unlikely at this point.

SO MUCH CONFUSION! Okay, so it is sounding like Eureka arrived at the island 10 years ago... But Ao is 13 and according to the doctor he is a child of the island... hmmm... or maybe she arrived on the island 13 or 14 years before and something happened to make Naru's dad blame her for the islands trouble...
This episode has left me with even more question.

CAN'T WAIT UNTIL EPISODE THREE.

I liked the first two episodes. They are good and I'm glad they have a couple scenes with eureka in it ^^ but it makes me sad because it is like renton don't exist. I don't see renton there with Eureka. I thought they shared everlasting love and together forever?

I really like how their handling this show. The characters pretty interesting so far. Ao looks to be an awesome lead with him already having the will to fight and the problems he faces are external rather than internal. I also think it will be fun trying piecing together how this series fits with the first so I’m a little more excited to watch it now than before.

good episode (nirvash got a serious make over!). Curious if we will see renton, holland or talho in this series. I dont see them in the character data base so sad face. Does that list update as the series progresses and we see new characters or is that all of them?

The list updates as new characters show up.

It looks like alternate universe but Eureka came from the original universe. The concept of alternate reality is moot when one of the main theme of the series is inter-dimensional travel. Not to forget in the original series, they mentioned that the Scub Coral discovered another universe beyond theirs.

I like how Ao is, well, one of those protagonists that don't whine. Instead of mumbling "I can't do it, I can't do it" he says "I can do it, I am doing it". Makes him all the more likable. Oh, and, his mother is Eureka, we all know that. But I'd really like to see some hints of Renton in Ao's flashbacks

Oh, and I just noticed that this is going to be 24 episodes? Shame, I was hoping it would go up to 50. ):

;u; I definitely just looked through this thread to see someone say what you just said. AH. <3

But yeh. It seems like a lot of anime are cutting short at 24-26 range lately. Not that I'm complaining.

wait. . . unless the subs are wrong it said that the monsters/aliens where showing up as early as 1940s!? Also episode states they have records of those times and much of the infrastructure resembles that of the 20th and 21st century. That's it, I'm going to treat this series as either an alternative version.

That's what I was saying in my past post the story should be a prequel instead because it throws away the idea with earth and it people leaving etc

MMhh... why this EP reminds me of the original Eureka Seven?

Same standpoint they are being monitored from a few dudes far away. Same scenario how they met up except this time it's the opposite. Same scenario, home destroyed and etc like Renton...

Ok so the opening is really awesome!

The green Mech looks really cool I love its design. As with the original series I'm having a hard time understanding what's going on but hopefully it will be explained.

Also isn't Ao/Eureka's hair green?? Weird colour choice to call it!

Episode reminds me of the Angel fights in Eva and Ao receiving the mecha during an attack also pays homages to the 1st Gundam. Still don't see any hiccups yet... everyone says this will be the trainwreck sequel but so far it's shaping up to be a good attachment, makes me nervous for future episodes.

So far ep1-2 mecha action's well done & exciting, nice to see 2d mechs once in awhile. Only seen s1 long ago, don't get why this season's hated so much but looks good, characters aren't annoying yet. Seems a golden rule to try what's interesting instead of avoiding a show from bad reviews.
Shinji get in the robot! Lots of usual tropes & shouting, but at least he can fight.
There's a lot of relationships & backstory seems missing, or they'll supposedly explain later.

Generation Bleu/Pied Piper, who I presume to be the protagonist faction, are a professional international rescue organisation instead of a countercultural rebel group like Gekkostate.

With their mission being to take down Secrets, it's seems this is going to be more (g) monster of the week-ish than Eureka Seven was (there were fights with coralians but I felt the fights against the Federation's LFOs played a larger part).

The Nirvash has recognised Ao's DNA as being similar to Eureka's.
