If you've ever found yourself wondering about what would happen if Light Yagami was a pitcher in a baseball series, instead of attempting to become a God using his notebook of death, then the answer is simple: One Outs. It was made by the same studio, Madhouse, and every aspect of the show - ranging from the dull colour choice and realistic art style to internalised thought emphasis - highlight this fact. It's impossible for anyone aware of Death Note to watch One Outs without thinking 'DEATH NOTE!'. Both the series itself and the way it was adapted are just too similar. Even the vibe  read more

Pretty much the same aura around both of these animes. OneOuts is about baseball gambling with alot of money on the line. Both of them use there wits to outsmart the opponent but there is always someone with money they can try to scam...

The main character of One Outs is said to be created under the influence from Akagi. Both are similar in their extreme, cold-bloodied ability to win by mind-f*cking their enemies.

Both main characters are brilliant at mindgames and deceiving. If you liked that in either one of these shows you will find the satisfactory in the other, too.

Uh, is quite simple actually: - One Outs and Giant Killing are quite similar because first of all they are both seinen with a main focus on the sports genre. - moreover, both deal with a professional sports: not the usual sports played by teenagers as you usually see in anime the most of times. - having adult characters overall both of the series, they also have a different way to tell the story, making it quite interesting as they both show you sides of the professional sports that you rarely see in anime. - still, both main characters give to their serie an overall quite strong psychological theme,  read more

Main character who outsmarts all of his foes (and allies). One Outs is basically all about strategies and interesting psychological tricks, and very entertaining for those who enjoy the 'battle of wits' aspect of Code Geass, Death Note and other similar anime.
report Recommended by VVayfarer
Both are sport anime, extremely exciting. One of the main characters in Eyeshield 21 is kinda similar to the main character of One Ones by looks (and a bit by character).

Simply put both anime are about mind games. the main character is some kind of genius who knows how to manipulate his opponents.
report Recommended by Woks
Both are incredibly interesting sports anime where an physically "weak" protagonist uses unusual sports techniques to advance in their respective sports. One Outs being Baseball, Kuroko No Basket being Basketball. Both deal with various different teams and switches character perspectives quite often.

Both are about one guy cleverly manipulating everyone around him to achieve a certain result. To do so they have an absolute and far better understanding of their respective situations and how to use "the rules" to their advantage than everyone around them. You always feel like they're 10 steps ahead of everyone else, and it is very exciting observing them interacting and having battles of wits with other characters who act and think similarly. Tokuchi Toua of One Outs does so while playing baseball and Ayanokoji during numerous Classroom of the Elite tests.

One outs has an extremely talented player who leads the team to the victory through his tactics and talent. While blue lock program is becoming like that. They do have pretty much similarities in terms of tactics and strategies. This is one of those shows where "Selfish players" are not demonized to make the team players look good. The characters are well written and developed. And they're both great shows

One Outs is the most intense anime on baseball. It starts a bit slow, but then it gets into the game and stays focused on the mind games that a genius pitcher is plotting against a very wide range of talented or cheating adversaries. One Outs doesn't have the high school/college drama part, but its about another extremely talented pitcher who joins the team after being discovered in a rather shady business. Recommended if you enjoyed the tension and the team work of the second episode of Ace of Diamonds

As Kaiji, One Outs is all about gambling but here tokuchi gambles only in baseball with his skills of throwing ball and by making strategies how to win the game. First I has no hope for this anime as I don't like sports genes but after watching it I loved it. The strategies are just too good, just go for it if you loved kaiji. you won't regret it. m/

Well, the aura of competition and the amazing abilities of the main character seem to be the same. The progression in revealing the character and skills of the main character seems to be the same, as well. The main differences are that One Outs is much more adult in content and tone, and we're dealing with more of a team sport since it's about baseball rather than tennis. The characters in One Outs are much more adult-looking as well, but I believe some people (OK, I mean women especially) can definitely find something to feast their eyes on! In addition there's  read more

I guess this recommendation was never done before because of the differences of the genres. Plots and atmospheres are different but I find the personalities of the main characters(Johan and Tokuchi) similar in so many ways: Both of them are gifted with a brilliant mind and they are scarily smart, most of the time they remain calm even in the worst situations, they have immense understanding of "human emotions". When I first saw how Tokuchi manipulated the other characters in the show, it reminded me of Johan right away. They can see others' soul and read their mind at first glance, both Tokuchi and Johan perfectly  read more

Both have sports themes, with a character that has an extra special talent. Both involve strategy and a character that struggles to win competition. I just watched one outs and now am enjoying ippo immensely.

Baseball pitchers. Both pitchers seem harmless at first, nothing special. Slow pitch. But their pitching accuracy and talent soon make people change their minds about these pitchers.

if you ever wondered what would Hisokas brother would be and be like well i must say Tokuchi, Toua their mind set is almost comparable in every way, for their facial features as well as the sadistic look of always being calm and cool in every situation....

Both explore the underground side of sports with betting, gambling and big money involved. While experts in this field, main characters also end up participating in official matches.

Both are sport anime that deal with the the psychology of the players instead of just focusing on the flow of the game. Both anime show you the complexity of simple-looking games.

Anime about baseball just focusing more on strategy and psychology. The main character is a pitcher. However without having breaking ball like sawamura, tokuchi cover it out with his insane mind. Recommended if you enjoyed the tension and the team work.

Firstly they are both about baseball and although the main characters are different in how they approach baseball, they always win in the end

I can't help but think of Tokuchi Toua when I think of Medaka Kurokami. The thrill of both shows comes not from the possibility of the characters failing, but rather, knowing they will succeed and waiting to see how they come out on top

Hyper-intelligent protagonist that finesse's his way out of impossible situations, similar personalities

- You'd expect The Initial D series and One outs to be your 'average' sports anime, but you'll end with the most thrilling and mind blowing shows you'll ever see. You can call it 2 of the best sports series ever. - Both feature Ingenious, Godlike Main Characters who use complex techniques to defeat their opponents. - They give an Extremely detailed description of both their opponent's and the MC's plans and tactics. - Even though the MCs are very strong, the battles are definitely 2 sided and give u the thrill like you are watching it live in real life, which makes it super fun to  read more

Both shows involve intense psychological battles, where characters are constantly predicting each other's actions.

Both titles are not your average baseball anime. Moshidora focuses on using the rules of business management to help the team's players understand the game and their role/interest in it better, while One Outs is a psychological battle of wits on the field, whereby a particularly perceptive pitcher who loves gambling manipulates the players around him, mostly on the opposite team but also his own teammates, into earning his team as many wins as he can. Whether you'll like both will depend on your tastes - shoujo philosophy vs intelligent shounen action - but chances are that a baseball fan will at least want to try  read more

Both are shows that feature main characters who are perfectly fit for their shows (i.e., miles above the rest of the cast). They both feature plots where the mc changes them through their actions, rather than them being another part of it. Most of the enjoyability of both shows come from how much you end up liking the main character

In each episode is the same plot: Dr. Hell/Saikawa sends his Mechanical Beasts/Opposing Teams, Koji Kabuto/Tokuchi Toua runs to Mazinger/The Mound, background music resounds, and the battle/game begins. Many emotions and feelings are mixed in the battle/game, but in the end, Mazinger/Tokuchi Toua is the winner.

Both MC use their smart brain to do things, hyouka is more to mystery though but if you like Toua Tokuchi you will love Houtarou Oreki.

Both anime are about a game (survival game/baseball) where opponents use psychological tricks, differents strategies. All shots are allowed. The main character seems to be the Best player in both anime, they always keep one step ahead. It was made by the same studio : madhouse

These are both sports anime without the extra power ups like with 'The Zone' or 'Hissatsu Techniques' from the other sports anime. If you just like to sit back and watch people play what they want and have fun while kicking butt this is for you....they both are.

it's the same sport. whit guys extraordinary talanted for baseball.

one more anime about baseball. but a lot more psychological.

Nothing similar in terms of story or characters at all, but some kind of out of the ordinary contract that binds the main characters plays a big role in both.

Although the main theme of both anime are pretty far from each other, they are alike in many ways. First off, in both Rainbow and One Outs, the main characters work together with other characters as a team to meet their goals. Also, there is a 'bad guy' in both of the anime. In One Outs case - the sponsor - and in Rainbow's case - the warden. Along with this, both anime also have a similar 'vibe' or atmosphere and rely heavily on the dialogue and narrator.

Also about the same sport, but as opposed to the analytical and one-upmanship of One Outs, Nine has more drama, more romance, more 'heart' one might say. Whereas in the former the characters serve as props to develop a narrative, in the latter they're fleshed out, some given an episode to themselves and their lives, and then the anime has group-based drama/interactions, whereas in the former it's confined mostly to the games themselves (with the only drama being about the business of the professional side of the game).

- Both animes are amazing - The openings are similiar - Both protagonists have a sort of relaxed nature around them, but they also seem to know exactly what is going on. - Blond protagonists

Both MC's are skilled and talented in the sport they play Both mc's are intelligent and laid back and never break under pressure In the stories the MC's are later on forced to play from the higher ups with alot on the line The two series have Psychological, game, drama, Seinen elements

Both Baby Steps and One Outs have characters whom see the sport (Baby Steps-tennis/One Outs- baseball) as more then just simply a game. Though their view points are different, both are one of a kind. One Outs- MC breaks down and analyses the opponents to strategically defeat them psychologically Baby Steps- MC takes notes and breaks down the matches themselves and uses the data collected to improve himself mid game and relates to the information to improve himself in future matches

Goro and Tokuchi both kick butt in professional baseball, and both shows are amazing. Goro uses more will power and skill, while Tokuchi is kind of like a mind reader and has a very psychological and tactical method of approaching baseball. If you like one show you will like the other (but I suggest watching Major from the very beginning if you want to get the whole story).

It's about baseball too and it's really good. Both main characters are pitchers and they love to challenge others. Tokuchi Toua is super-intelligent and has an unusual ability, Goro Shigeno is really talented player, always learning new throws and working on his physical abilities. One Outs shows more about unusual strategies, tricks, kind of "mind games". Major concentrates on courses of matches and physical abilities.

Both Main Characters are very confident and cocky. One Outs is about baseball and Cobra is really not about that, but there is an arc where Cobra plays a sport similar to baseball called Rugball. That arc reminds me of One Outs due to the tactics and strategies used. I am watching Cobra series at the moment and the Rugball arc has me hooked just like One Outs did when I watched that series.
