These two shows are extremely similar, both focusing on a teenage girl with a big dream and trying to make it. The only difference is that in Kaleido Star they focus more on things like gymnastics and dancing, while in Glass Mask it's about acting.

Both are fun loving comedy type anime's that involve the main character trying to become a "Star" basically. Each finding her own way to becoming famous while going through bumps in the road.

both have that classical music or whatever going. (kaleido star has a part that has the swan theme going.)

In Kaleido Star, we follow the story of Sora, who wants to become a star on the Kaleido Stage, and in Hikaru no Go we follow Hikaru, who wants to become a go player. And in both animes the main characters go through difficulties to win and receive help from a spirit.

Both are about girls pursuing their dreams and both are about artistic sport.

Both shows share similar themes of love, friendship, and overcoming obstacles. They both also have happy-go-lucky female leads who wish to bring happiness to everyone after being inspired by a performance from their childhood.

It's strange to express this feeling, but I trully enjoyed both shows. Sora is just like Akari a very optimistic girl who wants to do everything to realise her dreams together with the help of her friends. Both shows are also full of touching moments and will result in some moments where u will have tears in your eyes ^^. Although the setting in both show are both totally different (circus in KS and becoming an undine in Aria), I still recommend everybody to check out the both shows. They are very underrated pearls and you won't regret watching either of the 2.

Though Sora doesn't have a sad past like Asumi, they're very similar... Both of them are optimistic girls fighting for their dreams - to be a Kaleido star (Sora) and to be a rocket pilot (Asumi) -, both of them have a friend that nobody's able to see (Fool and Lion-san), and, mainly, both of them never give up!

Both have a young girl trying to make her way in the world. Both of them really cute and fun to watch, just the right length so it never gets boring

Even though they are in different spheres, both are "sports" anime. Both have main characters that are incredibly skilled physically, have a dream they want to achieve, and do things by sheer force of will.

Both series incorporate the idea of the sky/flying. Main characters aim to be the best and make everyone shine and move. Both have extremely cool triks.

Both series focus on a group of adolescents that instead of attending high school are studying in a circus.

Both Revue Starlight and Kaleido Star have supernatural elements working on the sidelines for a high-stakes performance arts setting, with a lot of symbolic competition and a main character who strives to be the best. Both have a lot of side characters who go through development. If you're a fan of one stage story anime, you'll probably like the other.

The main female character from both anime are thrown into the world of acrobatics. In Kaleido Star, the main character dreams of performing in a Circus act. While in AoKana she realizes her true calling and delves into Flying Circus. Both of them are beginners but soon soar through the sky and captivates those around them. They have a very similar energetic personality.

This really reminds me of how little chibi, fairy characters of 'would-be' selves are trying to make their owner's dream come true...it should also be noted that Kaleido Star provides a harsher perspective of achieving dreams whilst Shugo Chara and Amu is focussed more lightly on possible futures. Both are enjoyable - if you like one you're likely to enjoy the other!

While their main theme is different, they do share a similarity, the protagonist is in a circus troupe.

Like the main character Maki, in kaleido star there is a lot of gymnastics. Maki who fights using gymnastic like movements is like the bold and strong maneuvers in kaleido star

-extremely hard working protagonists -protagonists evolve as the shows progress -similar art -similar feel to the shows

Another colorful and touching anime about girls focused on following their dreams with all their difficulties but improving every day to reach the top in the idol industry.

Kaleido Star has a similar theme at base to Ballroom e Youkoso, and that's dance, passion, strength, and performance. Similarities: - Tatara and Sora are similar, not in how Sora already knows acrobatics, they both are weak but show huge potential - Tatara and Sora are enthusiastic, but also have doubts and frustration throughout their careers. They both experience dancers block (similar to writers block), faults, and mistakes. However they both have hidden potentials that separate them for the rest of the characters - Both shows are gorgeously animated in separate ways. Ballroom e Youkoso is cleaner, fluid and graceful. However, Kaleido Star (while an older anime) has  read more

All about working hard at your goals with strong female lead characters.

If you like series where the main character follows after their dream, then Kaleido Star is another good one. With a more colorful palatte (it IS A circus after all), humor and charming characters, Kaleido Star goes along way with Sora reaching to be a star at the Kaleido Stage. Both series similarly have a standing rivalry between girls, Sora the one starting from the bottom and Layla, the one already on top and still reaching higher. The relationship is the same in that they both push each other farther and develop a bond closer than friendship. Humor, drama, and pushing yourself to the  read more

kirarin revolution and kaleido star are both the same in some ways.. kirari want to make her fans and all the people around her happy by doing her best being an idol..though she 1st dream to be an idol just because she wants to be close with seiji..but as she comes an idol..she really do her best for her fans.. sora want to spread happiness in the kaleido stage.. she 1st dream to join in kaleido when she was young when she watch alice in wonderland with her real parents.. kirari & sora both don't want any competition because they want a happy stage for everyone..but they both  read more

Both anime follow the journey of somebody who keeps fighting on to make their dream a reality. These journeys both include plenty of training, victories, and a few defeats. But what really makes them similar is the style of comedy they use on the side.

Regarding their stories these two are COMPLETELY different, but the relationships between Sora/Layla and Sheryl/Lanka as well as their personalities are very similar. Layla and Sheryl are both seasoned performers, who feel threatened by talented newcomers Sora and Lanka. Even so they eventually become friends and work together to achieve harmony. If you like strong Female characters that chase after their dreams while never giving up, than it's likely that you'll be able to find something you'll like in both these anime.
report Recommended by Fayere
the main character in both animes have extremely optimistic outlook on life in general, have amazing, if not genius worthy, talents, they love what they do (fly high - gymnastics, kaleido star - circus acts + performing) and have the ability to change peoples hearts. If you loved one you'll definately love the other.

A clumsy girl having a dream of entering the stage and being able to do so on the first day, without any experience, because the girl supposed to do the performance, is unable to. The 'manager' decides that she is the perfect girl for the job, just by the experience of earlier, coincidentally running in to her on the street and seeing her 'do her thing' there. He overrules the female authority in order to get her to the stage, since she is not happy about having a newbie do the stage performance. Although she is a clumsy girl in the show, she is of  read more

You'll notice the similarities of two particular characters: Sakura and Meiling from CCS and Sora and May from KS. Both Sakura and Sora have this great aura of optimism and determination that seems to change people around them. As a result, Meiling and May, who come off as annoying, loud-mouth girls who provide the humor in the shows, cannot be completely hated even though you really want to hate them because no matter how they act towards Sakura and Sora respectively, they are the type of characters who cannot bear a grudge. Not to mention, both Sakura and Sora are Japanese while Meiling and May  read more

In a world of entertainment, a goal might only be qualified as ambitious if no effort has been put into accomplishing it. In the duration of the journey, rivalries are formed and friendships will be tested in both the brightest and darkest of ways. 'Kaleido Star' features the life and journey of a girl in a circus where hardwork is heavily required in order to hold on to one's place. From the audience and tv perspective, there is nothing short of fame and fortune for those who made it to the top but for every rise, there are countless falls. Facing such adversity, one must cast  read more

The softhearted Sora Naegino couldn't be anymore different than Joe Yabuki and his crazy antics, but Kaleido Star and Ashita no Joe share plenty of common narrative elements. Both series tell an underdog story of a young athlete who aims to achieve their dreams through hard work, determination, and a lot of pain. In their journey to reach the top, Sora and Joe meet new friends who aid them with their struggles—and also enemies who want nothing more than to crush their aspirations. To triumph over their ordeals, both athletes must learn to bend the laws of realism by learning techniques that are otherwise almost  read more
