Both are about girls pursuing their dreams and both are about artistic sport.
Besides the familiarities of the talented but struggling athlete, and her mystical and irritating companion... both shows' protagonists feature a power struggle to be the best and make it to their dreams.
For both series, there's a young girl who is aiming to become a real star. In order to accomplish that, she works very hard every single day of her life in order to beat the best. One interesting note in both series is the addition of a supernatural element in which she is able to see a being that others cannot. They have a complicated relationship with the otherworldly being acting a sort of guardian/mentor towards the girl.

Shoujo series focused on a teenage girl with a career in an artistic sport. Both series have light fantasy/supernatural elements but are mostly grounded in the real world.
Everything is very similar, the drawing style, the animations (Kaleido Star is 2003-2004 and Ginban Kaleidoscope is 2005), the kind of humor, with good emotional things, drama, storys, and since it is a performance, they use a lot of imagination and animations to give it more beauty, making it more beautiful for us, the audience, then, the characters were good too in both.
I couldn't stop thinking about how similar they were and if you liked one, you will like the other for the reasons that I said before, although I personally prefer Kaleido Star, I think its ending was better, however, the the whole journey
