Similar character development Evokes similar emotions

The female character completely changes the life of the male character in the story. Male characters change throughout the story from the beginning to the end of the movie. Sure, watching this movie will make you cry and change your view of seeing life, because the thread that separates life and death is questioned. Importantly, people can change the lives of others completely, and the animation shows it.

Both stories are wonderful and very exciting. You can't help but fall in love with the characters. The animations are similar and the story is moving, too.

Both are romance dramas, though plastic memories is more cheery (as in at the start, I wont spoil, kinda) and pancreas takes a serious approach. These shows both revolve around death and the desire to live before the inevitable doom. If you liked either, or got emotionally attached (F) you'll like the other one :) have a dramatic Friday night

It deals with a main character (girl) that has health problems and a guy that supports her through difficult times even though they're just strangers. It shares a theme of embracing the true meaning of living and two people who were blind to this truth reveals it to each other.

Both involve characters living with the threat of death due to medical conditions. The main male characters help them as they cope with the threat of death.

Both make you sad and have a similar premise

An antisocial, emotionally detached cynical boy meets a cheerful bubbly girl filled with innocent wonderment that opens their eyes to the beauty of the world. They learn that life is about more than just making it through each day, it's about stopping and enjoying the present while it's in the moment instead of reflecting back on it when it's already gone.

In these shows, an initially apathetic main character is taught to cherish his life and those around him by a sickly girl. Through the moving, and at times silly, experiences of the main characters, these stories show that even though happy times may not be permanent, hardship can happen at any time, and those dear to you will die, every moment is worthwhile.

Both of these series show a socially inept person beginning a new hidden life and relationship with a very popular, very well liked person. They then go on their adventure together, sharing what little time they have together in order to experience their youth to the fullest, before time comes.

Similar character interactions (in relation to the 1st arc of BGS), involving the aloof male lead and the expressive female one. Both cases contain a lot of sharp dialogue

I feel like its similar because of the school setting and similar main characters, they both love books and surround themselves with them and meet someone special.

These two shows make me think about what it means to live a meaningful life, to prevent myself from wasting it, and to appreciate the people around me. The characters go through relatable struggles, they strive for what was missing in their life previously (breaking free from fear and uncertainty to go on an adventure, in the case of Mari, and making human connections, in the case of Haruki). These yearnings (whether the characters realize them or not) hit close-to-home for me, and they are some of the most inspiring stories I've seen, so I'd highly recommend both of these shows.

These anime feel very similar to me in terms of the way they are structured and developed. Ocean Waves felt lacking only because of how short and fast paced the movie was and I feel that I want to eat your Pancreas is a more complete version with a different ending to the roamnce. There is a trip in both of these movies between the main characters and I like this idea very much in both!

Although I don't see much of a similarity between season 1 of 3d Kanojo and Kimi no Suizou wo Tabetai, season 2 seems to be much more similar to it. Both stories follow a young couple who are knowingly nearing the end of their time together. They show how two people are able to help the other change their lives through their originally contrasting lives. You go through a rollercoaster of emotions in both of them, hence why I recommend them.

Both are topics related to life and death. Similar character designs by Loundraw. Both of these are masterpieces. Highly recommend you to watch "Summer Ghost" if you like "Kimi no Suizou wo Tabetai?".

Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl draws inspiration from the shock scenario of I Want to Eat Your Pancreas. Although Seishun requires a 13 ep season leading up to the movie, the payoff is so much better.

Both detail a necessary death. Both use the setting of "ordinary students". Both animes the characters learn something from what needs to be done. Different tones, different art styles. Similiar messages but delivered in different ways.

Both these films were tear jerkers for me and I think will make anyone cry.

Ever contemplated about death? Well here's two tearjerking animes that would satisfy that thought. If you wonder what happens if you shoulder the weight of regret or guilt, and that it is left unresolved when you die, or the person that impacted those feelings on you is gone, then these are the perfect animes for you. Except Angel Beats is a series and it happens in the afterlife, while I Want to Eat Your Pancreas is before death. Both also has great songs ^_^ (btw take note that upon writing this review, I have NOT watched clannad lol). Both are in my top 10 favourite  read more

- Both are mature romances focused on only one main pair (no messy love polygons). - Both feature male protagonists who gradually leave their shells as they grow as people. - While I can’t describe exactly what makes the two main girls extremely similar without giving spoilers, just trust me that their circumstances are quite closely related. - Both are complimented by their gorgeous visuals and wonderful soundtracks. - Both have a high chance of making you cry.

Overly extroverted girl spending time with an introverted guy to help him break out of his shell and to actually start living life

When I watched Kimi to, Nami ni Noretara, it gave me the vibe of Kimi no Suizou wo Tabetai. Both of the guys learned something from their partners. In a way, they both have similar plots.

both have sad and depressing ending

Hero falls into a downward spiral. However, everything changes when he meets a beautiful heroine who stirs up his world and sets him on a journey to face life again.

the main characters in both anime experienced tragedy in their romantic life. both have a deep drama and beautiful stories
report Recommended by saeed1m
From the very beginning of the movie, it's given that the main character(s) of these movies will die at some point of the movie, and then the stories are being told retrospectively about the short remaining time of their lives, and the emphasis that even though they're in hopeless situations, humans still try and will found some specks of happiness in life. The difference between the two is that 1945 Japan is a far bleaker setting than modern day Japan.
report Recommended by Desolated
Themes in both of these shows include isolation/loneliness, depression/despair, connecting with other people, and finding a reason to live. They both are emotional and will probably make you think about their messages long after you finish them.
report Recommended by SAniyoukoso
Both the protagonists lock their hearts and try their best not to open up to others but they soon find the person they were looking for and a bond stronger than anything develops between them. If you are looking for some school-settings anime moviez which is more than "just some regular romance ones", i'm sure you're looking for these.

Both stories involve a extroverted protaganist who is close to another introverted one. Each character had a huge impact on the other's life. Both stories focus on the parting of the two characters and have a similar sad yet beautiful tone to the story.
report Recommended by Dorotheas_Hat
Although both movie's aren't that similar or even close, they do have one thing in common and that "it is not a love story, but it is a story about love."
report Recommended by Arandomperson1
Life story, Emotions, School, Friends, Slice of Life, Happiness, Sadness... one movie that will make you feel everything... A sad story that becomes a happy one, just to become again a sadder story, but at the end you will feel happier than before, but without feeling sad too.. Life story.
report Recommended by YuyoAlberto
These two Animes both resemble the pain of being parted from their dear friends. The plot of these stories are great!!
report Recommended by aneendyadg
Both have themes of new-found friendships and death, and involve an attempt to bring a character out of their shell. They also have a sombre feel, and do not sugar-coat the idea of loss, making them both highly-emotional anime.
