The similarities between Usagi Drop and Sweetness and Lighnting are apparent from the get-go. Average-looking man have a pretty blonde daughter around pre-school age that he does not particularly know how to care for. The difference is that in Usagi Drop, Daichi adopts his grandfather's daughter, but in Sweetness and Lightning, the father is recently widowed.

An adult male dealing with cute kindergarten kid. No ecchi included, minimum romance, more light comedy revolving around daily lives. Both children featured also speaks about the same way. Although Barakamon is richer in environment, Amaama shows us a similar story with big city as background.

- Heartwarming story - Widowed father who adores his daughter - Navigating single parenthood

both are slice of life anime that have a focus on parenting. moe for adults will make you think at times think "ah, maybe i should be a parent". in real life, don't fall for it, actual parenting is much harder than what these anime depict - they only depict the upsides of parenting and rarely any of the downsides.

Both anime features food in a deliciously realistic way, though at different angles. Amaama to Inazuma shows step-to-step cooking tutorials for common homely Japanese food while Shokugeki no Souma combines both science and art to present creative fusion dishes according to various themes. Both animes use food as a bonding factor, where the characters bond over food and develop better relationships from it. Despite different settings and character types (e.g. genius youths vs single father and average students), both animes have feel good themes.

Similarites: Both are slice of life anime related to taking care of kids. Differences: Amaama to Inazuma focuses more on cooking while Gakuen Babysitters is a school anime with a little romance.

Food brings people together. Shows about cooking, eating, and the bonds that people form whilst doing so. Koufuku Graffiti is a lot shinier and is more focused on the eating together aspect, whereas Amaama to Inazuma has a more subdued colour palette and is more about cooking together.

Slice of life genre with a lot of loveable characters! Although, I do think that Flying Witch is still slightly superior to Amaama to Inazuma, if you enjoy the slice of life genre, you are for sure to enjoy both!

both are heartwarming slice of life stories with the main character going over to a girl's house to have dinner; in amaama to inazuma the main character comes with his daughter to his student's house, while in 3 gates no lion the main character comes alone to the 3 sisters that live in the neighbourhood

Both anime are about a dad taking care of their daughter. Both are somewhat food-centric and have a lighthearted and heartwarming style.

Anime about cooking for daily meals with slice of life background. Featuring male protagonist who is the main cook with female secondary protagonist.

Both shows have incredibly cute toddler-range girls who make extremely silly faces. The girls and their affinity for their parents and making them happy are super similar!

Both anime are tooth-rottingly sweet about father-daughter style relationships while also having a cooking or gourmet component.

I got a similar feeling while watching Koi wa Ameagari no You ni to when I watched Amaama to Inazuma. Both have a sort of student/sensei relationship and end up spending a large amount of time together and the show lets the viewer watch their relationship grow throughout the series. Koi wa Ameagari our main character actually has developed feelings for her manager, whereas in Amaama it's a platonic relationship. Each shows can be both lighthearted but also very serious at times. If you enjoyed watching a high school aged girl spend time with an older adult male and the activities that surround them I  read more

Both shows are about serving good food to others and making them happy. The biggest difference is that in Sweetness and Lightning, the person meals are made for is the same whereas with Restaurant to Another World, they are made for different people in every episode. Both shows have a laid back atmosphere that is all about bonding through meals.

in "Amaama to inazuma" mian characters enjoys how to make delicious food, in "Ben-to" they're having fun fighting for delicious meal. so add it on to watch list now! enjoy!

Amaama to Inazuma crries the same "overcoming great sadness through a supportive environment" kind of feeling. It's not as deep sometimes, but it's a nice anime that warms up your heart.

relaxing anime, cute and wholesome

Both shows are Iyashikei slice of life anime with high school girls as main characters. Each series is about recovery and healing from the death of a parent, blended or nontraditional families, and rebuilding family after a death. Each series has a mother who is absent from her family for long periods due to work, but is able to reconnect with their daughter and have healthy relationships. And of course, each series is about food and cooking and includes recipes in the original manga!

If you are watching they for the cute child and the father's relationship, you should take a look on the other anime too!

Without spoiling much, this resembles the last part of Clannad:AS, with cooking as a delicious add-on.

Both are about lighthearted moments in life. The series is mostly at home of the protagonists. Amaama is about cooking with people, while Osake is about drinking. "Plot" is different, but both are lighthearted and the animation style and colors show this.

Very different but very similar. Both shows have a general light heartedness but we still see characters troubles.

They are heart touching stories about the relationship between father and daughter.

The vibe that both shows give off when eating something delicious made me want to make this recommendation. Amaama to Inazuma is about a teacher who wants to make food for his daughter to enjoy while Gin no Saji is about a boy who goes to a highschool that specializes in farming. Both shows are very different but the sweet, slow paced slice-of-life vibe with some sad moments is really alike.
report Recommended by Lwaxana
Both series emphasize the loving relationships between the main characters and the sense of community that is created over a shared hobby; fans of either series will be glad to know that delicious cooking/food scenes are at the center of each anime.

- Doting single father who's learning to take care of their child - Child learns new things like cooking and eating different kinds of foods - Iyashikei

both tug on emotional feelings based on the parent-child relationship. albeit, Shelter will get it done in 6 min, Amaama to Inazuma will reuse the formula episodically (there's no greater arch) so if you like that feeling it keeps coming as the climax for each episode of sweetness & lightning

Both anime focus on food and the joys that it brings. Amaama to Inazuma is based primarily in the real world with a father-daughter relationship and learning to build community/friendships with food. Himesama "Goumon" no jikan desu is based in fantasy and about a princess being "tortured" by experiencing the simple joys in life by her enemies and becoming friends with them. Both anime will leave you smiling and with a warm feeling in your heart.

- Kotori (Amaama to Inazuma) and Rin (Giji Harem) have pretty similar personalities and the story involves how they get along with a man who has the same interest as them. - They both voiced by Saori Hayami, so if you like Yukino from Oregairu, and looking for a female character that looks like her, you can try both anime! - The overall atmosphere of the shows are very cute and heartwarming. Main difference is, Amaama to Inazuma focused more on bonds between a father and daughter, while Giji Harem, as the title says, focused on harem (in a unique way!)

Both are incredibly heartwarming shows about family life, often focusing on food and sharing meals together. Both families have lost one parent, and in Binbou Shimai Monogatari the other is missing as well. If you enjoyed one, you would probably enjoy the other. There are times when they may bring tears to your eyes, but they are sure to leave you with a smile.

Both shows are about the life of a family that just lost the mother figure, while Akachan revolves about the eldest son taking care of his baby brother, and Amaama is about a teacher who learns to cook for his pre-school daughter.

Both have cutesy main characters. I was instantly reminded of Tsumugi when I started Alice. The dramatic elements are way stronger in Alice but both have very tender moments. Sweetness and Lightning has a lighter mood and is strictly more "slice of life" about food and Tsumugi being raised by her single dad. Sana in Alice is somewhat raised by old man Zouroku so they are similar in that regard as well. Both are very sweet overall and get high ratings from me!

They both have the same sweet slice of life genre were the focus is on family and acceptance of the departed ones were it is up to the living family member to continue what the departed ones had left.
