Amaama to Inazuma, Deaimon Recommendations
Both anime are tooth-rottingly sweet about father-daughter style relationships while also having a cooking or gourmet component.
Gourmet, Slice of Life and Iyashikei (healing), childcare, and a girl with a romantic interest in the male lead. They both have similar vibes in my opinion. Neither shows are story-driven, I would say, but are just slow-paced gourmet slice of life shows. However, I would say the characters aren't similar.
In Sweetness and Lightning, the main character is a single father who is employed as a teacher and struggles to cook for his daughter. He meets Kotori, a student in his school, who's mother owns a restaurant, but is often away due to appearing on TV. The show mainly revolves around him and Kotori cooking
recipes that Kotori's mother gives them with splashes of cuteness from the daughter.
In Deaimon, the main character's family runs a sweets shop. He quits his band and comes back home after hearing his father was hospitalized, thinking to become the successor. However, on his return, he learns that his father was fine, and his family has taken in an abandoned child, Itsuka, who is also the successor to the shop. The mc is tasked with being a father figure to Itsuka. With a rocky start, as Itsuka, being a diligent worker and strivings to be independent and mature for her age, dislikes the mc believing him to be lazy and irresponsible. However, as the show continues, their relationship grows.
The child in Deaimon is more on the mature side, with her childish innocence showing every so often. However, the child in Sweetness and Lightning is much more "childlike."
I have also only seen a few episodes of both shows, but so far, the main cast of Deaimon seems much wider, and the show is not just focused on the mc's relationship with Itsuka, like Sweetness and Lightning is with his daughter and Kotori.
