Both have merged souls into weapons and such.

I wouldn't call it the same storyline but there are some parallels. #1 tournament that decides who becomes "king" #2 superpowers #3 strong feel for justice and friendship #4 powers are lent (Ueki: from their god candidate; shaman: from their ghost) #5 A girl that decided to become the main guy's "manager" The rest is completely different though, characters aren't really similar.

Shaman King is a relatively forgotten series which was majorly influenced by Yuu-Yuu-Hakusho. The style differs from the older style utilized by Yuu-Yuu-Hakusho. Both influde quite a few battles and have a tournament.

Both series are very good shounens, have similar powers (Stands and Oversouls), extremely charismatic characters, supernatural stuff and very good fights with many twists.

In addition to having a similar premise, Shaman King also has an offbeat feel to it, just like Bleach. If you can sit through a few of the early episodes(Which try to be Yu Yu Hakusho meets Yugioh), a great adventure show waits just beneath the surface. Both shows have a unique protagonist.

Fate-stay night has a number of similarities to Shaman King, but as a seinen series is overall darker and more character-focused. Magic takes on a larger role in F/SN than Shaman King. Both series revolve around a tournament fought with spirit allies over an incredible power.

It's still got the whole ghosts/demons thing going on. I don't know; I find them both similar and enjoyable.

Both anime are about a magical tournament.

both main characters have an easy go lucky attitude though being strongest among the team.also both animes have tournaments.

Both anime are of the shounen genre, the main cast consists of early teenagers that have supernatural powers. There is also the similarity in the story line of the arcs where a main characters is kidnapped by his own family and is rescued by his friends. Both characters's paths in life were decided by their families, but with the help of their friends, they are given another choice of the path they''ll follow (in Hunter x Hunter is Killua and in Shaman King is Ren). If you like seeing characters develop, make friends and gain supernatural powers, those two are the animes for you.

Easy. Shaman King and Magi are very similar... First main characters: -Aladdin is a little boy and Morty form Shaman king is little too. -Alibaba is a powerful guy like Yoh. -Morgiana and Ana ....both have POWER. -Yoh friends are like the eight generals. Now Djiins: -Djiins are similar with spirits form Shaman King. -Metal Vessel are similar with Yoh sword or Horohoro snowbord or another similar object. -Djiin equip are oversouls. -Extrem Magic are full oversouls -Magoi/Ruuk is Furyoku/Reiryoku Thank you for reading my recommendation. I think Shaman King and Magi are two animes very similar to each other. Both use spirits / djinns for fight. Both have similar main characters. Both have power like Magoi or  read more

Both protagonists have a habit of turning enemies into allies by not just being strong, but also by being laid back and kind.
report Recommended by NeoRinTinTin
Both have some kind of tournament, where only one can be the winner and gain a special power. Fate/Zero (and 2nd season) is really serious, while Shaman King is more comical. And Fate/Zero is more violent than Shaman King.

well its a shounen action type anime similar to Shaman King with awesome, very funny and unique characters it has a good storyline and awesome art and animation .If you liked Shaman King youll certainly like Fairy Tail

Peoples who have spirits who fights on their sides...
report Recommended by TheSilverWarrior
Both series deal with protagonists who receive a supernatural kind of power. One can talk with spirits and makes one his partner, while the other gets a demonic child as his partner. A competition starts as they have to fight for their lives and to claim a title of "Shaman King" and "Demon King". Both feature a lot of fights and a series of small adventures.

Both suitable for younger audiences. Plot is similar too: overcoming obstacles to reach goal, minimal baddies.

Both contain magic, Supernatural, and comedy elements. The two MC's want to become great shamans for the ones they care about. Both MC's have friends that help assist in conflicts. The stories take place in the modern day life.

Shaman King and The God of High School are shounen battle anime where the main characters are competing in a tournament. As expected from a shounen battle anime, the main characters become stronger overtime as they face increasingly tougher opponents. The total number of episode for each series makes a difference in terms of storyline execution.

Both are good typical shounen anime shows! They both have typical shounen elements such as good protagonists, good action/fight scenes and great amounts of comedy. Both shows have a supernatural premise, namely involving spirits. Both shows happen to reveal an apocalyptic tone to the story as they approach the ending episodes!

Shaman King focuses on Shamans who can call back spirits and use their powers for good or evil. They use their own body as a medium. Spirits can be past heroes/humans or nature spirits. Marvel Disk Wars has heroes/villains turned into chips, which allows you to channel their power.
report Recommended by Sekobro
Both are very spiritual series that features entities that can transform into weapons. Both main characters are laid back and are often underestimated.

Saint Seiya and Shaman King are shounen battle anime with super powers. Their storyline begins with a tournament and then transforms into a good vs evil conflict. The main characters become stronger as the stakes are increased. Saint Seiya is very much an inspiration to all types of shounen battle anime, including Shaman King. If you're looking for more of these type of anime then this is the recommendation for you.

If you like a solid Spirit based action comedy show with crazy powers but sadly with less ecchi, give this a spin. Watchers of this anime can't disagree with the similarities here.
report Recommended by Tajj
These shows aren't super similar but what they do have in common is that they're shounens directed to a younger audience (10-13 year olds). Both shows have their fair share of ecchi elements but thats standard for the shounen genre. So yeah if you like edens zero you probably will like shaman king :)

both animes have characters competing in a tournament for a position of power

Many similarities in battle system, overwhelming supervillains, energy meter, powerlvl boosts, rival->ally transitions etc... However, fight animation differs drastically and that's a major problem for SK.

They both have "Small main characters" fighting ghost.

-spirits in Shaman King & shadow-animals in Blue Dragon -both r bout ppl travellin -MC r both nt powerful at first but their spirits r & they catch up 2 their spirits l8r in d series

Very similar comedy and drama beats. Shamans are basically Kekkaishi. both main characters are small

In Shaman King, the characters also fight with weapons infused with spirits.

Aside from being under the same genre - action, supernatural and shounen; the two have other notable similarities: 1.) The male and female protagonists on both shows were destined to be husband and wife, also as being agreed upon by their family/superiors; which later on turned into real romance between them. 2.) The male protagonists have the same dream of becoming the strongest - for Yoh to be the Shaman King and for Rokuro to be the strongest exorcist like Abe no Seimei. 3.) As for the female protagonists, Anna and Benio - both are very powerful and very supportive of their partners which makes them very reliable  read more

both are about young people who have to save the world(s) with their ghosts/monsters partners

This anime feels similar to Shaman King. They both are about fighting with a partner (but it's slightly different because in Dragon Drive its with a dragon but Shaman King is with spirit). Both main characters seem similar also. Yoh is pretty similar to Reiji, they have a similar carefree attitude. (Their personalities are pretty different though).

Persona 4 have Persona while Shaman King have Spirits. Both of them aid the protagonists in battle with the antagonists who uses the same powers as well.

Well although Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (2000) is the "new" season it's also the beginning of the series ... anyways this two anime's have almost the same idea, except Jojo is more violent and bloody than Shaman King. But in both anime's the main character has the ability to summon a spirit which helps him through his journey. On there journey they make friends that have the same ability and they join him on his mission to fight against evil!
report Recommended by ElemenT
Both feature fighting with the summoned friendly creatures visible only to certain people (spirits in SK and shikigami in OT).
report Recommended by Fureon
Both animes have characters that fight each other with unique powers imbued into the form of weapons. Also, there is a united front to fight one overpowered enemy in both animes.
report Recommended by Claudius
Very similar story, magical competition with spirit ally-like characters, same general plot, different setting. Similar attitude of main character towards his automatons/spirits, not seeing them as tools but as valued comrades. Main character is also inept but somehow manages to always win.
report Recommended by ILOVEPIEAMS
Similiar shounen story about a boy who wants to become something. In both animes, main character goes long way, meeting new powerful friends, rivals and enemies along the way. There are high spirited fights with unique characters, lots of fun.
report Recommended by Gasokai
Both series involves making contracts with ephemeral beings that possess/come sealed into small objects that turn into gigantic weapons. Story wise, there's nothing similar about them. But "Friendship and Teamwork" is a big focus on both. There is no extermination in shaman king, but it involves fighting similarly powered enemies just like in Owari no Seraph.

Shaman King also mentions about the Onmyouji practice especially the Asakura clan. Although Shaman King has only little scenes about Onmyōdō, they also talk about Shikigamis as a powerful Spirit for the Shaman.

Shaman King features a world-wide tournament held every 500 years to decide the fate of the world whereas G Gundam's world-wide tournament is held every 4 years to decide who rules Earth. Both of these shows also have a somewhat racist, yet humorous, portrayal of their respective fighters from around the world with the exception of Japan itself.
report Recommended by ZakuHead
The theme of both anime revolves around tournaments and fighting. The other uses spirits, the other uses secret ninja weapons. I think you'll love them both.
