It's apparent once both get into their theories concerning souls. Both have a great deal of focus on how two souls of completely different people work in unison to achieve common goals. Not to mention, both are funny as hell.

Characters uses a partner companion who turn into a soul to become a weapon. Soul Eater and Shaman King is almost both Halloween Theme but Shaman King sticks more to traditional Japanese supernaturals while Soul Eater are mixed of European and Asian supernaturals. They both have humorous scenes and intense combat animation, though since Soul Eater is new, it got more cool combat moves.

They're both great shows that share many similarities. I definitely recommend that you watch Shaman King if you enjoyed Soul Eater.
I think the tone of the anime is so similar! From the first moment I watched Soul Eater I thought of Shaman King.

In both series characters uses souls to improve their powers, good amount of comedy and action scenes, both are excellent series you must watch if you like shonen and spirits theme :)

This series is similar to Shaman King in the sense that both use similar fighting styles. In Shaman King, the shaman’s ghost ally can merge with the weapon being used, whereas in Soul Eater, a human actually transform into the weapon itself.
Both the wielder and the wielded have to communicate effectively in order to win the fight, and as both series progress, the characters learn how to overcome their personal obstacles in order to defeat their opponents.
