Both are about boys who meet a woman and gain the ability to fight in her world. Without giving too much away the story lines have similarities with character and plot development. Busou Renkin is however not as serious as Bleach, which is refreshing and also has a good end point.

Both series are about alchemists fighting homunculi

Though FSN is mainly about sorcerers and BR is about alchemy, they have a very similar feel to their storylines. The main characters in each are drawn into battles they don't seem to belong in starting with the appearance of a sort of 'warrior woman.' They both also have some romance thrown in, though I think this is played upon more in Busou Renkin.

Seems like your run-of-the-mill shounens at the starts but turns out to be something more.

though not similar by story or characters, but by the fact that both show you that villains don't have to be bad or evil.. there's always a good motive behind their actions

Both anime begin with male protagonists trying to save a girl only to have a his heart rip apart. They are later saved by the said girl using supernatural means and are dragged into a lot of fights. Both anime are also set in present day world.

The main characters are very similar and their purpose is to protect one girl, both have a lot of action using similar weapons too.

Basically starts off with both lead males getting killed and then fighting alongside the females that have saved them. And bad guys also feed off human life for the most part.

The main male characters certainly look a lot alike. They are both also protective of the people they care about. Both females are not weak; they show there strengths by defeating the enemies. There is a lot of fight scenes and cute romances in both.

The series are actually very different. In comparison to FMA, in Busou Renkin you can actually bring dead to life. However, both series use Alchemy as a fighting power and their enemies are homonculus. So if you simply want to see different version of Alchemy, feel free to check any of those shows.

Same theme going here. Central main character who has an unbelievable kind of power trying to stop evil from taking over the world. The main character is fighting to protect everyone he knows and loves.

Both series were created by Nobuhiro Watsuki, and it shows. Busou Renkin and Rurouni Kenshin show a splendid mix of humor and drama, with some truly over the top and impressive fight scenes.

the main character die and bring to life with slow romance alo the main character personality is energetics

The main characters of both series fight evil monsters with both a powerup item and a long blade, and must protect the humans they encounter. Also, the fodder enemies of both series are filled with grape Kool-Aid (and the Radam monsters from Tekkaman Blade explode.)

-Main characters look the same -High school student is killed one night and wakes up thinking it was a dream -Finds out it wasn't a dream -Was explained what happened to him by the girl who revived him -Fights alongside girl who revived him to fight supernatural beings Only difference is that High School DxD has a LOT of ecchi

both shonen, both supernatural theme with demons, VERY similar main characters in character traits and personalities, similar ''bad guys'' - papilon from from BR reminds me quite a lot of pheles with their weird ways and dress sence. both have fabulous are and loads of well done fight scenes. BR wasnt as popular as it deserved to be, it has a very similar feel to ao no exorcist so im still scratching my head as to why it wasnt more popular. BR is better in terms of consistant excitement, their isnt a dull minute, let alone episode of BR where as althoguh ANE has a slightly  read more

These two battle shonens have large casts, each member with a different superpower. Both series also focus more on plot than battles, and one Homunculus in Buso Renkin even has a powered up fist like S-Cry-Ed's main character.
report Recommended by 1231415333
The main characters of both series are generic boy protagonists who meet a girl important to the story after being attacked by giant snakes. Both MCs vow to protect the girl as they fight. However, Ima, Soko ni Iru Boku has a nondescript protagonist who doesn't influence much, and Busou Renkin is more optimistic and far superior.

In both of the anime the main characters die in the beginning and are brought back to life. They continually fight and become stronger. Spoiler! Later they are chased by the organizations that they work for and separate themselves from society to prevent harming others.

Both are good monster fighting anime's, with dynamic duo partnerships and both Main character's wield an over powered spear

Both anime have a girl with blue hair that is in love with the main character and good fighting.

Classic shounens. Average japanese schoolboy found superweapon with superpowers.

Both feature epic fight scenes and similar main characters; both also feature the main character training under similar mentors. BR has more romance, though

-Both use weapons that change based on the user -Both are action animes with well-written female characters -Both have kind of weird animation styles
report Recommended by Strawberrity
The monster characters are very similar, in both series the main villain manages and creates other monsters, and the newly involved male character helps the woman after learning the information from the woman who knows the events.

They are similar in appearance, mainly black in color. The protagonist formed his strength and formation in the midst of the various speculations around him. The way they fight hard and survive amidst the constant risk of self-sacrifice is a common thread that I recommend this anime.

I've described Hundred as being like a Dr. Frankenstein creation between Buso Renkin and Kill la Kill; so If you liked Hundred (or weren't satisfied by it), try out Buso Renkin for a show that I believe to be the next step up. The idea of personality based weapons is explored more in Buso Renkin than it is in Hundred, along with more character development. However, don't watch this if what you liked about Hundred was the ecchi and harem aspects.

The premises are surprisingly similar. In both cases, the main character is an ordinary high-school student who gets killed and the main heroine uses a mysterious device to revive them. As a result, the main character gets dragged into a conflict he didn't know existed and teams up with the heroine to survive, with the heroine becoming something of a mentor to them. Personality-wise, the main characters are quite similar, with Shirou and Kazuki being kind-hearted boys who go out of their way to help those in need (though Kazuki doesn't take it to the same ridiculous martyr levels that Shirou does), while Rin and Tokiko  read more

A tsundere accompanies a relatively average character on an adventure, and on said adventure, the main character gains unique powers. Also, both shows are by the same studio and director.
report Recommended by RoarkTenjouin
A tsundere teams up with a guy who happens to have somewhat of an idiot personality after a certain incident. But seriously, Yato reminds me a lot of Kazuki (And vice-versa).
report Recommended by RoarkTenjouin
They are similar in the way that it is about main characters that are on a quest to stop those that have wronged him, and seek justice for it, through their enhanced abilities.
report Recommended by Dwarfking45
Main character has a partner who helps him out. They must stop a masked man who is the main cause of bizarre incident. Action packed and comedy too.
report Recommended by AnimeFan500
Both involve alchemy and homunculi, though their portrayal of them differs.

strong taciturn girl who is followed by a boy that does his all to protect her. also Buso Renkin has the best series ending in all of the animes i have scene.

Theres akinda slick young school guy that has a few chicks with powers tagging along besides him. Hes got a power too. All kinda generic, but they work at times lol.

Aside from being action-packed shounen series with special abilities, they both also often give the same kind of feeling. Many scenes have a well thought-out feel and the main villains have depth.
report Recommended by Bocknoi
Both are fantasy shounen series. Both male leads have strong sense of righteousness and are somehow stupid in a way and of course, both of them are fighting to save the world.
report Recommended by Pandora
Both begin with a mysterious girl and awakening supernatural powers within the main character. In both series, the main characters fight to protect people around them - in one against ayakashi, in the other against homunculus.

Similarities of: Character Team Play- The play that recquires that the Silent Mobius had an agency called A.M.P. and the mission is to eliminate the Lucifer Hawk Categories. While the Busou Renkin has the agency of the Arms Alchemy user and has separation of teams, and their mission is to eliminate Homunculus.
report Recommended by dante_90
Both main characters spit out lines like: "I'll protect everyone" "I'm gonna get stronger!" Other than that the two series follows "the shounen formula", which basically have four stages: 1: discovering their power 2: training their power 3: realizing their "goal" 4: fighting the last boss
report Recommended by jomelsontanco
Both animes have characters that fight each other with unique powers imbued into the form of weapons. Also, there is a united front to fight one overpowered enemy in both animes.

a normal guy discovers a new competitive world and develops his fighting skills. both have a color cast with a range of abilities.

If Beet the Vandel Buster is Gate Keepers younger, more adorable brother, Busou Renkin is definitely the cooler, older brother. In terms of style, humor, and visuals, both Busou Renkin and Gate Keepers are very similar, but Busou Renkin just has that extra bit of over-the-top flare that makes it stand out; and the storyline and storytelling are superior. Being the older brother however, Busou Renkin lacks some of the innocent, adventuresome charm that Gate Keeper has about it.

both have very strong characters both have good action both the main female characters are somewhat close to male character both have human experiment both have some betrayal both the main antagonist have a group both the antagonist can absorb humans life both the main antagonist don't care about their allies or kill their own allies or use them as Pawn

They both involve A LOT of action and some of the characters are a little similar in a way. The two main male leads look and sound almost the same.
report Recommended by misaakii
Even tho there's no "body sharing" in Busou Renkin, the heroine of the series has some sort of responsibility in the main guy's death, right at the start of the story.
report Recommended by Ryoujin
Massive action against creatures far from human. Weapons that are activated with the use of items, a hint of love mixed in and of course a dash of comedy and drama.
report Recommended by Virje
They both use mystic weapons and with a hero being pulled by two secret organizations.
report Recommended by gizmo99
The main characters are kind of similar with the power they get especially towards the end of busou renkin. the female characters are different but I still think that if you watch either one all the way through you understand why I made the recommendation. Try Busou Renkin
report Recommended by Kelev
It has a vaguely similar MC and even his weapon has a golden flame like glow to it and the heroine is a similar cool headed type character with weapons comming out of her skirt.
report Recommended by Metazoxan
Busou Renkin and Inukami only masquerade as intense action series but in reality are filled with goofiness and laughs. Both boast antagonists (at least at some point) who are hilarious perverts, both have likable leads, and both have a fair amount of MANservice, to boot. The action and fights aren't bad, but the real value in these series come from all the laughs.
report Recommended by AtaraxiaM
Both share a female and male protoganist that fight to save the world, fairly similar plotlines of male fighting to protect. although not enphasised both have abit of romance, although chrno crusade has more
