How about you, anything new going on?
I actually liked the second season better than the first, which is a first for me. In my opinion it's the best anime I've seen so far dealing with a tron like concept, I still prefer the dot hack series though. The writing in Log Horizon is much better than sword art online and there is an actual sense of character development. What really made me enjoy the series though is the way they actually incorporated mmo strategies and team work, something you didn't get much of in dot hack or sword art. I also really like the theory-crafting and reasoning/explanations behind Shiroe's plans. They seemed to makes sense and didn't feel farfetched, at least to me.
Is a third season in the works or was that it for log horizon?
P.S. Admittedly I didn't see why all the girls liked Shiroe so much than I saw Roe 2 and was like oh I get it now lol.
Anything you looking forward watching? There seems to be a lot to choose from this year.
10. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Love the Tim Burton's trademark grotesqueness. The Depp-Bonham Carter combo never ceases to amaze. The songs give me the chills. And revenge stories are just my cup of tea.
9. Kaguyahime Monogatari
One of the most heartrending Ghibli masterpieces. The art is simply stunning. The soundtrack alone can drive me to tears. The story is so moving and there's simply this inexplicable sense of nostalgia to the whole thing. It's an ode to life.
8. Inception
Mind-blowing setting. Intricate plot. Badass soundtrack. Interesting ending. Love the moral.
7. Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl
Good old simple action comedy. Captain Jack has so much swag he's one of my favourite fictional characters ever. And the theme song is one of the most epic piece of film music in history.
6. Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushin
Hayao Miyazaki at his best. His child-like innocence shines through this heartwarming tale about self-discovery. Also, Haku happens to be one of my earliest childhood crushes lol
5. Black Swan
The main character's pursuit for perfection through self-destruction is extremely haunting. It's like witnessing a train wreck. It's horrific, but somehow I just can't tear my eyes away. The make-up and cinematography are stunning, and Natalie Portman's professionalism is highly commendable.
4. The Imitation Game
The characterisation of Alan Turing has a certain poetic idyll to it. He burns up his own life to make the world a better place. He sacrifices his own happiness to do it because he knows it is the responsibility that comes with his gift (or curse). There a quote in the film that goes something along the line of, "The world is an infinitely better place because you are NOT normal," and it just hits me really hard. And Benedict Cumberbatch brings the character to life most convincingly. I also love the LGBT message.
3. Fight Club
I can't explain properly why I love this film. It's just so epic and mind-blowing.
2. Amélie
Amélie Poulain is so delightfully weird. She sees the world in such a unique way... I just love her so much. This film makes me incredibly happy.
1. Midnight in Paris
I love how this light-hearted comedy carries such a profound moral warning people against romanticising the past. I love the quaintness, the simplicity and the directness of the whole thing. And then of course, there's Tom Hiddleston playing F. Scott Fitzgerald.
How is your year going?
My Christmas was fun, drunk all the eggnog I could lol. Hope your had a great Christmas as well.
Yeah, for the most part~ I just finished Durarara's 1 & 2nd season! (finally)
