I just found out about your passing recently. You were one of the last few people from the old Youtube days that'd kept in touch with me every once in awhile. I wish we had met in person at least once. I'll miss our online conversations. Rest easy, my friend.

It's heartbreaking. I wish I could have spoken more with geemaa. Lovely guy from back in the day.

I've fond memories discussing Xenoblade and other games with him. I remember when he joined me playing Mario Kart 7 on 3DS. He left everyone in the dirt, and even waited at the end of the race for us to catch up. Cheeky :')

A year after my father passed away (a few months before his own), geemaa was the first person I exchanged contacts with outside of MAL. We merely waved at each other but never had the strength to open up about what we were going through.

I didn't know of his passing and only just returned to MAL. I was fully intent on contacting him, but alas...
Rest in peace, my friend.

I was debating about writing this here. Geemaa passed away in March 2024. I don't think he would care if I mentioned this now. It would be his bday today, he was my only real life friend that would show up randomly to my house every couple months. He was a great friend. It really sucks you aren't here anymore. Losing his dad a few years ago really traumatized him to the point where he couldn't sleep for months at a time, I can't imagine what you went through. But I'll just mention some of the good times we spent together that were magical for me or changed my life:
1) at college we went to Japanese4 class together, you said you were a ninja and that got me interested in you.
2) we became so good friends that we could troll each other in many ways that other people wouldn't understand. (Like me blocking the door with a chair when you were coming out of the bathroom..of course I let you come out still, but yeah...silly times)
3) we had many similar anime and games in common and for our bdays we would sometimes buy each other games that we haven't played yet, you got me KH international version in Japanese, it was one of my favorite games ever.
4) we played Smash Brothers (game cube/ n64) for like 99 stock and played hundreds of hours together. I edited a youtube video to show my triumphant moments, even though you were better than me overall at Smash (and I guess RNG MarioKart (but not N64 or older versions, just the new rng stuff))
5) we would greet each other with a kamehameha handshake thing, and sometimes flip each other off randomly.
Even the last time I saw you, despite being low on sleep, you still gave me a kamehameha...and you wore Saiyan armor then too (when you broke your back)...
6) I miss the times when you would raid my fridge and steal food randomly, but since 2022 losing your dad we didn't really hang out much..and I didn't know how to help you, I wish I could've helped you more.
..I really feel like a lot of things got in the way/ Covid period before that too reduced the amount of encounters we had...
Anyhow, I knew this guy since I was 21 until I was 37, so about 16 years...
Time goes by so fast...
To honor you today, I will look through your plan to watch list and choose something and watch an episode, or watch something from your top anime.
What's interesting is that you are still a MAL supporter even though you haven't used this site since 2022 lol, well it's only a few dollars a month...

True, mobile games and gatcha stuff is way more common now. Neither are really my thing though, so my gaming experience has remained largely the same over the years tbh.

Hah, i'm pretty sure the remakes are most of the time just to buy time for them to make the actual next proper gen game lol. Well, Arceus was a fun game though.

Cool that you were able to get a Special Edition of that game. Still no sign of a reprint. And now there's going to be a third game coming out this year. I'm gonna try to see if I can get my hands on that special edition on the Nintendo Store.

It kinda happen again with the Toei Animation hack a few months back. It even affected the theatrical release of that new Dragon Ball Super movie.

Ouch. Glad that you were able to overcome it. The only time I got sick during the pandemic was when I got food poising at a restaurant. Hmm, I guess there's some truth about how deadly it can be depending on a person's immune system. One of my great aunts that was over a 100 years managed to overcome it after catching it before she passed from natural causes. One of my other great aunts wasn't so lucky, though, and one of my friend's mom from high school passed away from it. I ended up going to a theme park, a concert, a con, and plenty of movies once things started to calm down a bit, but I still take some caution in it. The only bright side to the pandemic for me was that it gave me some extra time to catch up on things and it gave me an excuse to cover up my face in public without giving me any weird looks LOL.

I still enjoy the One Piece anime despite its pacing issues. The recent episodes directed by Megumi Ishitani are amazing.

Wow, it's been a decade since the anime ended. Time sure goes by fast. Well, probably get some actual footage from the final arc soon if it doesn't get delayed from its Fall 2022 release period.

Most of the voice cast from JoJo PS3/PS4 games didn't reprise their roles in the anime, so it didn't surprise me. What did surprise me was Netflix getting Stone Ocean. I just wish the release for it wasn't so slow. Yeah, she is. It's interesting that both the Japanese and English VA of Jolyne got their dream roles. Speaking of All-Star Battle, they're releasing an updated remastered version of it. The Anime cast is replacing the original VA from the game. I'm curious to know which of those 9 characters they'll be adding in the updated release.

Lol, those gatcha games, once they have their grip on you, it's over. Big part of the reason i don't even want to get into them, but hey if you enjoy it =P

Yeah, i read that unfortunately the turnover rate for Pokemon games is low because they have to keep up with the anime too. Like, a new game needs to come out, so the anime can progress, so merch can be sold, and so on, it's a self eating circle. They can't take 5 years or whatever to make a new game lol.

More games are coming out yes, but how many of those games are truly "great" games? Not many. A lot of them are just average games.

I actually have a PS5 now! I got it recently, about two weeks ago, i was luckily invited to a Sony direct event or whatever it's called that let me get one online. I wasn't too fussed about getting one but since i had the opportunity, why not? And yeah, my brother did the who follow accounts to get a PS5 method. It worked, eventually.

Yeah and i barely use my Switch tbh, so there's no reason for me to personally get one lol.
