Both are extremely comfy shows with likeable characters, chill music, companionship, lots of scenery porn and facts about going outdoors. In addition, Yama no Susume is also about struggle and character growth, especially in the second season. And also encouraged me to take up hiking, even if it's just the nearest hill to me. In short: if Yuru Camp is going to be the anime that makes more people to watch the wonder that is Yama no Susume, that would be great :D

Two fairly timid MC's are somewhat roped into doing an activity/hobby they never thought to do outside of school where Yama is to do with hiking and Houkago is with fishing. We venture through said hobbies and learn quite a bit on them along with the MC's. Both MC's also wanted to be in the handicrafts club before but in the end ended up doing what they do now. They are rather fun to watch and have their little bits of drama here and there too but overall a good time to be had by the two.

Moe girls doing niche outdoor activities and discovering themselves in the process.

Both are pleasant short anime (3-4 min) featuring 4 young girls doing outdoor activities. Both will give sidenotes of how to enjoy everyday life and what kind of outdoor activities you can do. Both have nice art.

Do you like slice-of-life shorts filled with cute girls, nice animation, and that prized fuwa-fuwa feeling? Well then, this pair of anime are just the ones for you!

Both shows feature casts of girls, frequently enjoying the outdoors and other simple activities as they deepen their friendships and grow as people. They're both beautifully animated and will leave you with a positive, relaxed feeling. While the humor between the shows is subtly different, both made me want to explore rural and wilderness areas in Japan.

Both shows are centered around a girl who reconnects with a memory and an old dream she used to have, and the friends who stand by her as she gets there. The characters in Tamayura are a little older than the ones in Yama no Susume/Encouragement of Climb, though.

Animes like this have one thing in common and that is It's about some girls doing things like hiking, traveling, camping, fishing etc. Yama no Susume adapt also a similar story that is some girls going hiking or in other words climbing mountains. Both Slow Loop and Yama no Susume is relaxing to watch and we can also learn some stuff from watching them.

Both are about a bunch of adorable girls spending a lot of time with their hobbies (mountain climbing in Yama no Susume, Motorbike riding in Bakuon!!). They both also explain jargon used in the respective fields, making it easier to follow even for people that have little to no knowledge concerning said activities.

Moe series with short screen time. (around 3 mins) In pan de peace! cute girls make and eat bread and in yama no suseme cute girls are climbing mountains.

Both have a bunch of cute girls doing fun stuff together with a slight tone of yuri. The art style is almost identical. The main character is like Akari and her friend is like Kyouko.

- both are peaceful slice of life anime about moe girls who make their dream come true

Yama no Susume has the outdoors theme, cute girls and a theme of overcoming indecision/maturing as a person/seishun suru! - the character relationships and characters themselves are less deep or complex but it's very enjoyable.

both in HS setting both have girls as characters both about climbing something one do it for sports, other do it for hobby

Two sweet little series about socially awkward girls slowly learning to make friends and overcome anxiety. Hitoribocchi is full-length and makes this journey the entire subject of the show. Yama no Susume is a short-length series, and uses Aoi rediscovering her love of mountain climbing as the catalyst (and metaphor) for her 'climb' back into socializing with others. If you like one, you'll probably like the other.

The unique artstyles that these shows have are quite similarly "flat" while still being very engaging. The shows both revolve around a group of high-school girls doing things.

Both have similar setting and really comfy to watch. Anyone who liked Yuru camp will definitely like Yama no susume.

Both shows are really adorable, "cute girls doing cute things" type of show. Both share a very very similar artstyle. Both shows have a nearly identical main character. However, Gakkougurashi isn't entirely "adorable," it gets rather dark at times.

Both are slice of life anime involving a timid girl who takes up a sport/hobby and makes new friends. In Yama no Susume it is mountain climbing and in Long Riders! it is cycling.

Both are about a bunch of girls working on a specific goal/hobby , both are filled with humor and heartwarming moments , if you like Yama no Susume , then you will love kanamemo !

Similar design among characters both are very cute and moe. Both shows are slice of life genre as well.

Both involve a similar, soft mood, and revolve around cute girls doing cute things. In Hanayamata, it's yosakoi dancing. In Yama no Susume, it's mountaineering. The two main leads are also similar, and their way of involving the other in their particular passion; the bold and outspoken girl interacts with the shy, introverted one and drags them along into their favorite activity.

Like with the OAV, the Tamayura TV series is centered around a girl who reconnects with a memory and an old dream she used to have, and the friends who stand by her as she gets there. The difference is, while in Tamayura, Fu has to overcome the sadness of her father's death to follow her dream, in Yama no Susume/Encouragement of Climb, Aoi must deal with a phobia: her fear of heights, which also resulted in her becoming somewhat introverted.

Both series focus on a shy protagonist who is dragged into a niche activity by a energetic genki girl. Houkago focuses more on the relationships surrounding the activity, while Susume gives the watcher an in-depth look into its hobby.

Yama no Susume and K-On are both slice-of-life anime surrounding the lives of a number of cute girls and their hobbies of some sort, Yama no Susume being hiking and K-On's being music. They also just aren't random skits like a good amount of slice-of-life shows, but actually have a little plot and a small amount of character development. Yama no Susume has short episodes though while K-On is a full-length show.

Although the stories differ it's the same basis - a lighthearted story of a group of cute girls hanging out together doing every day things. Similar art styles as well.
report Recommended by wonwoo
Both of these shows feature girls exploring a new hobby/passion and the hardships and victories they live through while becoming more serious in the activity. Yama no Susume features mountain climbing and Taishou Yakyuu Musume features baseball.
report Recommended by Thnx4dafood
Both ara anime about a group of girls enjoing sport activity. While Yama no Suzume is about mountain climbing and is more slice of life, Ro-Kyu-Bu is about basketball and is more ecchi.

Same omake with girls involved.

While the two seem really distant in premise, I felt like Wakako-zake and Encouragement of Climb had a similar goal and overall feel. Both shows depict a cute, lovable introvert going out into the world and appreciating some of the simpler things in life (food and nature respectfully). While Wakako is content with her solitude and doesn't try to interact with others, Aoi from Encouragement of Climb is kinda forced into being social and attempts to sate her introversion while maintaining her friendships. Both also use a light color palette and focus most of their artistic energy towards making the food/mountains look appealing. Although, I suggested the  read more
