Average wimpy school boy meets friendly-but-sinister girl. Lethal games start. Mayhem ensues. Bloody and edgy 'battle royale' type of stories with plenty of deaths and psychopaths, they share several genres and themes. Both manga were also serialized on Shounen Ace and consist of almost the exact same number of chapters/volumes.

In both the current gods are dying and the mc has to compete in a battle royal to determine the new god. Both mc's are introverts at the beginning and start opening up due to actions of their partner and all the battles with their opponents.

Both psychological thrillers are about people forced into a "kill or be killed" kind of survival game. Where the characters are forced to question their own morality.
reportRecommended by Master10K
Both are written by the same authors. The female protagonists are both insane to begin with. The male protagonists however have different powers, Eiji has complete control over everything and everyone within a certain area which expands as he covers more ground, its name: World Domination(Because when he has explored the world he will control everything). Their personalities are similar in some senses but Eiji is still a lot less cowardly and as the story progresses he will probably become more determined just as Yukiteru did. The female protagonist is completely nuts just like Yuno, although in a completely reversed fashion.

Both series deal with a teenage protagonist given an unusual supernatural tool in an otherwise ordinary world and the moral dilemmas, mind games, and fights for survival that ensue.
reportRecommended by lithiumflower
Both have Time/space/end of world themes and an item that it focuses on. similar start plot about a group of selected players forced to fight each other. Psyren has more of a superpower setting but both still have great action. Protagonist and heroine are almost opposite of each other.
reportRecommended by SkyContract
Both manga involves playing a game of survival and whoever becomes the winner gets to survive. In the anime, many people's true nature were shown; their cruelty towards other people. The female lead falls in love with the male lead and assists him in surviving.

Corpses, corpses and... more corpses. Albeit the concepts are entirely different, both Mirai Nikki and Elfen Lied depict a very crude and gory visualization of realism that consumes the whole series with its crazy factor (although Elfen Lied is way more intense). The main female protagonists happen to be anti-heroes as well, having occasional antagonistic personalities throughout the story and resulting to protect the typical weak-minded (at first) male protagonist that once had a normal life.

Both series present the audience with an engaging psychological warfare. In order to survive, characters need to outsmart each other.

Yandere , psychopathic main female character . Mashiro Mai ( Dead tube ) & Yuno ( Mirai Nikki ) Both goes on killing people with no concern . Both of the Girls are CRAZY psychopath Where main male character is innocent in that respect . Both mc gets dragged into something they can't imagine . Both the series have a lot of killing and plot twist . They are both good psychological thriller .

Both are survival games based on mobile phones.

Survival games featuring mobile phones.

The story aren't that similar, but both stories have this 'killed or be killed' twist to them. The characters have to always be on the lookout for people who try to kill them on daily basis.

Aside from to laugh at it, the ONE reason I finished Mirai Nikki was Yuno. Never before had I encountered a character that made me love her for her single-minded devotion cuteness but also ponder whether I'd be able to deal with the whole axe-killing aspect, if she wasn't 2D. She's half lovestruck girl, half psychotic killer, and that made me want to violate her in my mind, as well as laugh as her PATHETIC beloved cried himself to sleep over her stalking ways. Unlike Mirai Nikki, which is first and foremost a psychological thriller, KnH is a full-on romance... or rather, a full-on tale of  read more

In both series, it involves a normal male protagonist whose life is changed forever after one day. They also both involve cases of altering future events based on prior knowledge. The series also involves the male protagonist who tries to set everything right but often times runs into various obstacles. The events from their past also becomes a source of their own conflicts. Both series adapts some psychological themes along with drama, romance, and supernatural tendencies.

Mirai Nikki is very similar. Both protagonists are cowards bitching about everything, annoying as hell, both have "psychopath girls" protecting protagonist, and main plot is almost identical, you have to kill every participant of the game to win and become "God"(in Cock Robin it's fulfilling one wish)
reportRecommended by Iwans18
Same kind of feel as it is a game. Not completely the same but both are a death game. Also yanderes in both ^^
reportRecommended by jiwoo1024
Both have an average boy thrust into a survival game with cellphones as their means of playing and keeping updated about their situations. There is also a mysterious girl that wants to act as a guide for the main character for some reason. Also, the lives of the characters are in constant danger. In both series, the characters kill to gain status/improve their ranking toward a goal.

When I started reading these two manga, it reminded me one and vice versa. Devil Survivor and Mirai Nikki both contains supernatural as well as a bit of psychological feeling that involves the main protagonist. The game contains elements of predicting the future as well as responding to them accordingly. There is a mysterious atmosphere in both series as well that seems to have a larger meaning behind the events that is happening. Both series has action, drama, romance, and some gore.
reportRecommended by Stark700
a god looking for a succesor creates a play or die game also both have extremely graphic deaths
reportRecommended by LadyFujoshi
Both have a creepy girl that will kill anyone who gets in her way. The Lolita from Ibitsu is even more twisted than Yuno; a total psychopath if you will. Lots of gore in both, but Ibitsu is a lot more disturbing (if you thought Higurashi was scary, think again! The Lolita is probably creepy enough to scare away the entire cast in Higurashi). Recommended for those into horror and gore.
reportRecommended by Dashiawia
Both are involved with tournament-survival game, where book owners (Gash Bell)/diary's owners (Mirai Nikki) will have to destroy each other book/diary. The winner, which is the last one standing will became king (Gash Bell)/god (Mirai Nikki). Mirai Nikki is darker than Gash Bell in many prospects including destroying diary will lead to death of the owner, thus owners mostly wouldn't care less to kill each other directly instead of destroying diary. While in Gash Bell, the demon of the book will return to demon world after destroying the book.
reportRecommended by hokaru
Although the premise is not entirely similar, the setting, the development and the plot twists share a substantial resemblance! Mirai Nikki follows the battle royale recipe with a specific number of people trying to be the last (wo)man standing, but ib follows more the good side versus bad recipe, which in this case involves a specific number of people with certain abilities. However, who defines what good or bad is? The works redefine what you thought was right or wrong pretty often. In both cases, the plot holds many surprises for the reader and some are just crazy and over the top, but enjoyable nonetheless. They  read more

Noth are by the same author and have very similar art styles. Also, both have detective themes and supenatural.
reportRecommended by RenaSuede
Both manga feature precognition/prediction of future events through some sort of physical object and actions done to change/preserve these predictions by the protagonists and antagonists. Both titles also have a tandem of one male MC and one female MC collaborating as a pair in a "game" to deal with the problems that come their way.
reportRecommended by Coldlight
Both Yuno and Rena are cute as hell. Yeah... As hell ;-). Both like to use deadly tools. And both have mental disorders.
reportRecommended by Lomi
Both series deal with a number of participants forced into a high-stakes kill-or-be-killed situation with a lot to gain if they make it out alive. Both also involve a gradually developing romance, necessary alliances, and the question of who can be trusted. They share a similar overall ambiance and general feel.
reportRecommended by lithiumflower
Although not the same, there are striking structural similarities. Mirai Nikki has a protagonist who recieves an empowering item that puts him at great risk and requires him to forge alliances and take arms against others within a similarly affected group, with his survival primarily dependent on knowing who to trust and when to trust them. Shiki is about a group of protagonists, some of whom become supernaturally afflicted, whose survival is dependent on knowing who to trust as the death toll climbs. Not the same, but similar.
reportRecommended by lithiumflower
The foundation of Mirai Nikki and Ana Satsujin (Peephole) has a very similar mood; do note that Mirai Nikki has more of a survival game concept. We have a main girl who has mental stability and obsession with the main male protagonist. This becomes quite a problem as we find out how far she is willing to go in order to get what she wants. Throughout both series, there are also cases of murder that connects to the main characters' roles in the story. Recommended for fans of psychological mystery fiction.
reportRecommended by Stark700
Male lead that doesn't talk to anyone? Check. Mysterious weird girl who joins with the main lead? Check Murder? Check Blood? Check. Yep, the elements are all here.

Its a small group of people, the paranoid feeling that everyone is after you, and its generally creepy. There are certain differences tough, but it gives of the same feeling.

-Both protagonists are targeted a lot by others to be taken out -One has people fighting each other to become god while the other has people trying to get their wish to come true and fighting over it later -One has a character with a Yandere girlfriend while the other has a character with a Yandere boyfriend -Arisa gave me the "What if Mirai Nikki was a shoujo manga" vibe
reportRecommended by hwanghyunjin
Dal Young - a MASTER at taking from other popular titles - used Mirai Nikki for 'inspiration', in this instance. We've got the play-or-die situation, a useless & naive male lead and the love-love yandere that's the only reason he's able to remain alive. And instead of thanking her, he continues to place both of them in life-threatening danger whilst spouting goody-goody nonsense. (This description works for both series, no?) The differences? An infinite number of players (not reliant on mobile phones) and 'angels' that suck souls outta people in order to set the game of death in motion, in Re:Birth.

Yuno is often seen as the prime example of a yandere and between the other examples cited, Higurashi is not too behind, the Watanagashi-hen or it's counterpart Meakashi-hen from the manga adaptation of Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni has many of the elements or themes that Mirai Nikki features, Splatter scenes, psychological horror, the paranoia of a stalker following you, the plot twists in the story, there's just so many factors that are similar between the two that if you liked one, it's highly probable that the other one may be of your liking, Mirai Nikki also has a lot more of plots or characters,  read more

Both series (of course in Higurashi's case only the serie/saga in question) are of horror, being more specific with the sub-genre, Splatter and psychological horror, and deal with the theme of yandere or maybe yangire idk, whichever it is there's a girl obsessively in love to the point of madness, you know what that means, besides that both have mistery elements and a good number of plot-twists.

When I first read The String doll,I was thinking "another Mirai Nikki manga",the stories are somewhat similar to each other. You can try reading it to see for yourself.
reportRecommended by -ThyEnd-
Both of the manga are about people who can see a future.
reportRecommended by wuxiaspear
They both involve a lot of violence and possesive yandere characters. Where Mirai Nikki had a female lead be the yandere, Raise Wa Tanin Ga Li has the yandere being the male lead. Raise wa Tanin ga li, while involving a yandere within a heterosexual relationship during a violent enviornment, with their cast of very interesting characters allows you to be engaged in a relationship that's pretty self aware.
reportRecommended by lihyoung
Both are psychologically horror driven stories revolve around human survival and the prediction of the future on who is going to either live or die.
reportRecommended by Disapeared_Ghost
Both series simply revolve around killing each other in a game of death. But that's not all, both also really have very similar endings. Even though one is particularly longer than the other, both series are definitely pretty similar.

Violent girls and seemingly weak guys. . who turn out not to be so weak. (in HoTD, anyway.)

Intense, action-packed battles and starry eyed romance.

The main characters in these two are very similar. Both contain a male protagonist who is followed around by a female in love woth him and who holds deep dark secrets which are revealed slowly. Apart from that, the plot of these stories take very different paths.

This boy is kinda like future diary's YUNO GASAI. So, if you are a big fan of the future diary series, you are bound to like this one. The boy is the guy version of her-a total yandere.

Similar art style and dark tone. The plot is centered around a life and death game of survival. Both stories revolve around protagonists with special powers. They are forced to use it to fight for their lives and survive. The characters in both are mysterious and it is difficult to differentiate them between a friend or foe.

Both have a murderous yandere who wants the male protagonist for herself. Both are pretty violent, with no small body count.

In both, an average boy is forced to play a death game.

Both are quite gory and don't have a overly clear separation of good and evil. And there are several pretty insane people in both stories.
reportRecommended by Xiob
Protagonists thrown into a semi-supernatural fight for survival (with a low chance of actually making it out alive) while trying to maintain an ordinary life. Violence, desperation, intermittent insanity, and things you can never unsee ensue.

Kids fighting for their lives, knowing full well most of them won't make it out alive. While Mirai Nikki is a bit more violent, both have their fair share of nightmare fuel and horrifying revelations as the stories unfold.

Hohzuki Island the students remaining has come up with a plan the escape the island however during the process the had to sacrifice some and had to make hard decisions and Mirai Nikki people are chosen as candidates to be god they sometimes work together and sometimes the betray and kill each other for the title of the god...

I found Mirai Nikki and land of the blindfolded to be quite similar in the fact that both deal with people being able to see the future and what kind of troubles this get's them into. But while Mirai Nikki is a shonen manga Land of the Blindfolded is romance so if your looking for a really romantic manga this isn't for you. But if your just looking for a great manga that deals with people seeing the future and that has just a tiny bit of romance try out Mirai Nikki.

Two titles for fans of fast paced and spectacular entertainment. Although they are highly plot driven they also feature interesting characters.

They both have a similar feeling. Also, in both the girl is actually far more powerful than the male and that female has a twisted way of seeing the world.

With one volume of Underdog under my belt, I think of it as Mirai Nikki done right. What do I mean by that, you ask? I mean that, so far, it's been closer to reality with its lead's views on life, his reactions to others and his... hobby--what you'd expect from a seinen title. I also mean that no dogs controlled by a diary have been used, as of yet. NO SUPERNATURAL DIARY STUPIDITY = YAY! Underdog is like some kind of holy union between Mirai Nikki (KILL EVERYONE ELSE!) and Liar Game (OUTSMART EVERYONE ELSE!). What I like A LOT about it is that face-to-face  read more

Action and love story about a weakling boy and a powerful girl with some serious mental problems. Although male character is a nice person, in both mangas all attention focus on female characters. In C123 Motoko has divided personality and in Mirai Nikki Yuno is superprotective and obsessed yandere who has no qualms about killing. Both has action and blood, the difference is that there's more ecchi and martial arts in C123 and Mirai Nikki is more violent and even creepy sometimes. But if you enjoy one, I definitely recommend the other.

Along with many others, the outcast main character gains an immense power. The main character teams up with a classmate who has a similar power to find out as much as they can about the power and defend themselves against the many threats to their lives. Both manga are intense psychological horror and contain a lot of killing.

Like games? Like psychological plot holes? Like horror? Like action? Like romance? Then, you might like both of these manga series. Both the main protagonists begin as ordinary people but are quickly thrown into a setting they never imagined before. There are also evidence of romance and drama as the chapters drag on. Additionally, there are quite a lot of character development not only in the main characters but some of the main supporting as well.

A focus on survival, Mirai Nikki and Akuma no Riddle deals with this concept as the main character is caught and thrown into a dangerous game. They realize the nature of the game that will cost their lives if they play the wrong cards. Luckily, there is hope as with an unlikely ally whom shows feelings/care for the protagonist. Both series involves a group of characters/players in this game where each of them seeks to eliminate their target for their own reasons. Expect the unexpected.
