Fire Force was a fun anime. I enjoyed the whole season especially the dry humour and fight scenes. Happy to hear that Shinra's mum could still be alive. Hope season 2 is as good as the first.

@Yautja I mean, a movie is more profitable.

This was initially planned to have 4 cours from what I've heard, so that's probably why it's happening so soon, maybe it was already being produced.

Overall everything was pretty good. Some weird still scenes here and there along with pictures that didn’t quite fit the mood. Definitely prefer the manga even though there were some parts that the anime did better in some scenes.

Final rating is 7/10.

Action was impressive as always. I'm glad Burns doesn't seem evil. At least for now anyways.

Yeah I don't see much resemblance the girl and her grandfather...

I'm actually really happy that we will get more of this anime.

Oh wow, I didn't expect the demon from the flashback to be Shinra's mother. Also, Haumea is pretty fucking crazy lol.

Well, there goes one of my favorite anime of the year, it was so much fun. I loved all the characters (the ending scene was really nice), all the girls were great, like seriously, it was waifu after waifu after waifu, this show never disappointed with the girls; the animation was amazing and had my favorite OP of the year in INFERNO.

I'm going to miss this show so much, thankfully it'll only be 6 months to have it back.

hmmm as far as battle shonen's go fire force was decent thanks to DP they kept the fights looking good all the way to the end in the same high quality so big props to that.

sadly the plot while slowly getting better still reeked of generic-ness mainly with the MC always wanted to be a HERO that and most of the world building was done by a short 20 second intro each week which is a shame because the setting a world for fire force is interesting it's just that we've barely seen much of it and what we have so far hasn't left much of a impact mainly due to writing.

i always tired to pretend i liked this more than i did even going in i knew the source wasn't all great so i'm not that disappointed since it still nailed a pretty big part about a battle shonen the battles but with all the Jump animes out this year like Dr Stone ,Yabia this is seriously one of the weaker ones

don't even get me started on the fanservice some of the worst timed i've ever seen and a complete waste of a character almost made Lucy seem more useful.

7/10
10/10 for fights
10/10 for music yo

will say the visual art for season 2 seems pretty intense so i still have hope for Fire force

wow that was a killer final episode for season 1, learned a hell lot but idk if my small brain will be able to remember any of it for season 2 next year xd. Might just binge the manga because im not patient at all xd
still shinra's mum turning out to be the demon was something else, seeing her still care for shou (even if not under her control) looked like something straight out of a horror movie but wholesome in some way? Still her states being maybe confirmed alive is interesting and would love to see how they play that out.

The action scenes in this series are usually good. The last fight with Captain Burn is definitely drool worthy.

Season 1 is hovering between 7 and 8 depending on my mood. Decided to go for 8 very hesitantly. Reason being I usually won't recommend people to watch shows that are 7 and below on my list unless you've lots of time. There's plenty of shows that are 8 and above in general.

It's nice to see there's a new goal for the mc now that he was able to reunite with his brother (even though he's being manipulated at the moment)
Story was ok. They abused shonen cliches for sure. Animation was phenomenal.
I still enjoyed Dr Stone more as a shonen this season.

I feel like this show could have been great if all the characters had just been made to shut the hell up. Almost every fight was ruined by them standing around explaining everything to their opponents.

For example, Sho's introduction was insanely cool, but then in the later encounter everything he was doing got repeatedly narrated by himself and science-kun (although the way Shinra got slashed in the face with a sword multiple times and was fine was also pretty bad.)

Or Lisa, who comes out with the surprise betrayal, then immediately explains that her powers work via magnets - while standing in an inventor's lab with the inventor she knows well present. And then gets countered because of it.

I wanted to like this show so much, but you have all these cool ideas in a visual medium, and then waste it having characters stand around explaining things to the audience instead of just doing them.

I really liked this series, I think that the unique and macabre tone and character development created a niche anime with a myriad of layers.

A solid 8/10 for me, I think that once you wrap your head around the nuanced narrative format, you can really appreciate the grim-dark elements of the world.

We don't know what kind of people we truly are until the moment before our deaths.
As death comes to embrace you, you will realise what you are.
That's what death is, don't you think?

This is the perfect example of how a bad show can be optimized by having a good studio behind. Even If I don´t like David Production´s usage of Shaft people and overall style, the animation was always on point, the soundtrack was decent and the VA were also fitting.

And that´s exactly why I give it a 3/10 and not less. Damn, I expected a decent shonen at least, but this have to be one of the worst ones I have seen ever. The worst usage of fan service I have witness in my life (even worst than ecchis), the action sometimes was confusing, the characters have 0 personality and are almost entirely stereotypes (and I am talking about the guys, the girls are blatant 100% fanservice), the plot is stupid, the overall emotional moments did not have any weight at all (except the last one) and the brothers fight was pretty much nonsense.

Overall a terrible series with a great adaptation. Worst part about this is that with a second season confirmed Stone Ocean will be even more delayed.

Haumea brainwashed sho
Brainwashed sho put fire to their house also turned his mother into an infernal demon
and gave shinra his fire powers in the 1rst place.

We finally get some answers concerning Shinra's past. I actually can't believe his mother is still alive, even as an infernal. I figured Captain Burns would've just killed the demon regardless if it was Shinra's mom or not.

I'm pretty disappointed by the re-union when Shinra got back. It didn't feel emotional, or even genuine. Nobody hugged, cried, or otherwise felt THAT happy to see Shinra back. Honestly, it was pretty awkward. Perhaps it's different in the manga? Regardless, I'm disappointed how that played out.

Overall, I loved the show. Great directing, superb animation, a really attractive art style, and characters I ended up really liking. Okubo's style is so unique, coupled with his often heavy narratives of life and death, it helps Fire Force to stand out from the crowd. If I had one complaint, I would like to see Company 6 develop more together.

I can't wait to see more in season 2.

I really liked this series. It had its flaws but the stelar animation, fight scenes and soundtrack definitely made up for it. The ending of the series was a bit deflating, though I liked that some answers were given but it kind of created more questions. The fight against Burns was on point though.

Damnnn bro, Fridays without that Dr. Stone and Fire Force combo just ain't gonna hit the same.

Can't believe people really passed on this show because of fan service, "style over substance" and other bs. This was straight heat. Along with BC definitely my fave of the new gen.Fights were consistently amazing, sound design was like an eargasm every time, only issues I had were OP 2 and the fact that the camera seemed to linger on characters after they'd finished talking and that's very odd for me.

Season 2 coming soon, can't wait to see the current arc animated. If you haven't already, now's a great time to start reading it.

The second opening was undoubtedly TERRIBLE, I wish they had extended the first opening and closing throughout the anime

Man, that was some heavy shit Shinra had to find out. Surprisingly, it was a rather good final episode in terms of having me interested but seriously, was it really necessary to add the little dose of unbearable comedy at the end? I mean, having Shinra saying he will find a way to turn Infernals back to normal would have been a decent point to conclude this season while giving enough expectations for the upcoming sequel.

By the way, it was already established but this anime sure loves to have nonsensical fights.
That said, Dear Lord, if the animation were always this glorious, I wouldn't mind seeing the characters fighting over who decides to take out the trash or who will make dinner each night.

Ok so... overall and despite the slight improvement this last arc had, Fire Force was still a quite bad series if I'm honest. Leaving aside the atrocious misplaced comedy and the extremely poor fanservice, the show failed at making me feel attached to its characters or its plot. Most of the antagonists (Hibana, Rekka, Giovanni, most likely Haumea in the future, etc.) were so absurd, irritating and over the top I never could take them seriously and as a result, my enjoyment became even more affected in a negative way.
The only good points this series have are its glorious and consistent animation and its art direction when it comes to some specific sequences such as the Adolla Link "hallucinations", Shinra's portrayal of his past or Arrow vs. Hinawa fight, for example. Probably the only moments where having Shaft workers can be consider something good because let's be honest, Shaft-like directing isn't suitable for conventional shounen anime. Static scenes with characters having talks with lots of exposition and long pauses between responses might be fine for other series with more focus on the narrative aspect but not here where the story progression needs to be more dynamic.

3/10 - Season 2 was already announced and despite my discomfort with the series as a whole, I still have an slight hope things will get more interesting with this new information about the possibility of Shinra's mother still being alive.
This said, let's see how he will manage to find and turn Nezuk... eh, his mother back to human. Though... I hope he takes his time in this aspect... because honestly, the demon's design of his mother looks cool as hell!

Poor Lisa, doesn't even get to party because of the emotions she's going thru;(. Terrible what happened to Shinra's family but at least his mother seems alive right now tho not human. I doubt she'll be able to turn back and if she does, it will likely be via death cuz you know how these authors like to write this stuff.

The story so far isn't the best but its not too bad either. I don't have any in dept opinion on it as of right now tho. The fights were decent for the most part. Animation in them were good too. The characters were ok for the most part. I think my favorites were Maki, Authur(didn't care much for him at first but he grew on me the second half of the show), Hibana, Akitaru, Takehisa, Iris and of course Shinra is alright. Regarding Tamaki, im indifferent to her but I would like to ask Atsushi why does it have to be that way almost all the time? Why can't it be tone down and allow her to kick ass or something without doing the scenes like that almost every time? Look I get it, theirs plenty of people who like that but I don't think she'll lose her popularity if you change it up with her at times. I think the opposite will happen. I don't read the manga(at least not yet but I may do so) so I don't know how things are later on for her but it just seems like that part of her can be done better.

Overall, I don't feel like I wasted my time. I got some characters I liked watching on screen. A story that was somewhat serviceable more so towards the later half and some decent fights. It was at least worth watching for me. 6/10

Well it was not bad but not great either, definitely a wasted potential.

That over ecchi middle part felt just out of place and super forced. Also final fight going full Einstein x Dragon Ball was quite "meh". A guy who can stop time by stopping the universe expansion around him vs a guy who can literally go faster than the light...

Likewise, the "plot-twist" with the mom being the "bad-guy" was so foreseeable since the first episodes...

But still the best part of Fire Force is for sure Princess Hibanan, I could be her gravel every day of the week!

I hope that S2 next year will have a better story, and less "SF" fights.

From Dragon Ball, to Naruto, to Hunter X Hunter. What you want a full list of main characters that want to play the role of a world reknown hero? just look for most popular Battle shonens on google.

Goku doesnt want to be a hero.
Gon doesnt want to be a hero.
Naruto wants to be hokage to be recognized , he never talked about hero stuff.

If you mean that the MCs become heroic figures... well that's pretty much a good portion of stories since the epic of Gilgamesh...

Woow. Just wow. This is one of the best shounen anime in years. I don't think there's been any contenders for Boku No Hero Academia so far but this came along and boom!

I love the direction this is going in but i'm sad that this season ended without Shinra being able to save Sho. If they want to take down the Evangelist, the 8th is definitely gonna need to deal with Haumea first (evil little bitch). It completely broke my heart to realise that the demon infernal that took Sho and haunted Shinra for all these years turned out to be his mother.

Well that wasn't too bad of an ending. Some spectacular animation in that brief Shinra vs Burns fight. Asako was cute. I'm glad it ended on a mostly chill note.. those are the moments I find most enjoyable in this series.

Overall, I have to say I was unimpressed with Fire Force's story. There are touches of good worldbuilding throughout, but the story, man.. I felt they could've done so much more.

In the moment-to-moment scenes, character interactions were kinda hit or miss for me, partly due to the direction I think. That's another thing I found bafflingly subpar for a show that clearly put a lot of effort into its animation and other aesthetic trappings.

The protagonists and their designs were fairly good though, imo. Maki is definitely a favorite of mine who elevated many scenes (and a whole episode, as was the case with 19) with her great characterization. and I expected to really dislike Arthur as the show went on, but his stupidly confident attitude and aloof ignorance to everything was just too hilarious and fun to hate.

The sakuga, of course, was by far the show's strongest feature. Not only were the fast-paced, kinetic action sequences animated amazingly well (Shinra vs Sho, Maki vs Mace guy) but with Hinawa's Nether fight, where the combatants mostly stood their ground in a ranged battle, was made to feel much more intense and enjoyable than it normally would be.

As someone who prefers a strong story, though, I can't ignore my earlier points. I'll still keep an eye out for when Fire Force returns, but it'll be on the back of its strong animation and, as usual with shows like this, character faves. Hoping for things to improve and wishing the best for the next season.
