@Gourmetforce

Yes, the pacing of One Piece at times is slow, but the things that were happening were interesting, unlike Fire Force. MHA's pacing was okay in season 1 and there was no problem in season 2 and 3. It's only the 4th season where I had problems. On the other hand, Fire Force for two seasons straight had the same problem.

Let's talk about emotional fights in Shounen, and I think MHA does the best with this aspect. If you look at Deku vs Todoroki fight, there was build up and the fights served a purpose: that was for Todoriki to accept the very thing that he despised. And it worked.

Deku vs Muscular fights also had a purpose. It was about saving and proving to a kid that he should view his parents' death from their perspective but at the same don't be ignorant about heroes' purpose in the world of MHA.

If we shift the gear to Black Clover, it has the elementary and fundamental traits of a typical shounen: each fight served a purpose. Asta vs Vetto, this fight speaks for itself. An antagonist was in a state of Despair and wants to implement that onto the humans because of their atrocities in the past. He wants revenge. But Asta being the embodiment of a typical shounen character, wants to prevent that. This sets up a conflict and emotions between their fight. And before Asta took down Vetto, Vetto defeated most of the Black Bulls, crippled Asta's arm, and showed that he was a real threat. Further adding a sense of danger, uncertainty, and emotions leading up to their fight.

Noelle vs Solid and Noelle vs an elf fight.

Noelle was belittled and outcasted by her own family. The series took its time to build up her insecurities and her deteriorated relationship with her siblings. In the case of Noelle vs Solid, she proved to her brother that she isn't a useless female character and that she can stand her own ground. It basic, but it served her character and her development.

When her family was in a dire situation of being wiped out by a reincarnated Elf lady, she still stood up for them despite not having any good memories spent with them. Further proving that just because you can't control some events in your life, such as the death of her mother and her lack of magic control as a child, doesn't mean that you have to be blamed upon and be burdened with things you couldn't control. And this fleshes out her character.

I ask you, where in Fire Force do you see any of these build-ups that My Hero and Black Clover have. They're not perfect, but there are miles better than Fire Force.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
