Unlike the first, boring episode, this one went by pretty quick and was really funny to watch.

I love all the homoeroticism and double entendre; some of Bravern's lines were pretty out there, talking about Isami riding him and "coming" inside him... No to mention the ED...

Ok. This one was hillarious.

I still think they did too much apocalypse in the first episode for a comedy. But this episode did much better showing off the direction and strong point of the show.

And it deserves a Love Triangle & BL tag. Bravern X Isami X Lewis! Mech X Man Yaoi all the way!

Fun Fact: This was the first time I heard german (my native language) in an anime. And aside from a questionable accent (especially Bravern's), it was on point. Whoever had the idea to add it did their research!

So far it is fun. I had expected a lot less. Cygames seem to be pretty good when it comes to anime with original story. At least I think this story is original for the anime. I liked Shingeki no Bahamut as well. But I think some mobile game adaptions that adapt the game story ... felt more boring. And stuff that gets repetitive (like Uma Musume) is less fun in the later seasons.

Had expected it to maybe get a bit weird like Daimidaler. But it feels more serious ... with comedy elements. Like a Gridman/Dynazenon feeling (hopefully not as bad as those ner the end later) with comede level a bit like Tiramisu.

I wonder about the other girl. Maybe she will try to be close to Smith a lot - similar like Bravern is obsessed with Isami lol. Maybe in the end someone will just wake up having dreamt the whole stuff? :D Seems like the girl is from the aliens? And maybe some of them have human parts? At least the other super robot (Superbia) seems to have had a kind of personality. (He just could not speak.)

Didn't understant the German completely. The "Danke" at the end of the conversation and the single "Scheiße" from Heidemarie later - easy to understand. The first two lines: Took me a bit to understand the 2nd line. But then Bravern ... starts with something that sounds German (that I still can understand) but then some weird words ...

"Was halten Sie davon?" ("What do you think about this?)
"Das sind doch wieder die Amerikaner, sonst erfindet niemand solches Zeugs." ("That must be the Americans again. Nobody else would make up such stuff.")
"In diesen Tönen müssen wir"

... then I can't understand it anymore. I think he wanted to say something like that: https://m.dict.cc/deutsch-englisch/Nicht+in+diesem+Ton.html
("Töne" is plural of "Ton".)

I think he said "In diesen Zeiten müssen wir Menschen zusammen stehen" - which alligns with my english subtitles saying "Now is the time for humaity to stand as one".

They should put a comedy tag on this anime with the amount of laughing I ended up doing the entire episode (except the torture bits).

Bravern telling the coalition about his story with Isami, Chapter 1, then the faces of the folks as the double entendres get more and more and more ... uh ... and by the next shot the german lady's face is on the table and everyone looks like "omg I can't take much more of this story." LMAO.

Lewis going to GET Isami ... and Isami being unwilling to step into the cockpit.

Lewis makes a plea to Bravern, who turns him down flat! OH REJECTION!!! (felt like a romance anime too).

Isami finally gets in .. saves the day ... his clothes uhm ... where is he? Everyone is celebrating on the beach.

And then that ED, I was laughing so hard I was crying. As my kid told me "You got your wish, see Lewis is shirtless!"

Damn, calling it now. This is going to be the most meme'd anime this season.

Golden Kamuy fans and other women who want to watch Man service, c'mon over, we got a show for you.

@Bisalissy Yes that makes sense. Now that I heard it again ... the "müssen wir Menschen zusammen stehen" - I can recognize that. Still ... the "Zeiten" - can't recognize that. This still sounds like "Tönen" to me. Maybe they meant "in diesen Tagen"? I don't know.

Still better than some German or English songs (music) - where I sometimes do not understand the lyrics just from hearing them. (When the music is annoying and the singer does not speak clear and/or without accent.) :D

Love when a studio takes a chance on such a ridiculous idea, but American-style military homoeroticism and Super Robots seem like a match made in heaven so far.

The mysterious space entity has everyone very concerned, as Bravern makes a return...for Isami, who is being tortured to extract information about the space visitors, and especially Bravern.

All around the world, the entity known as Deathdrives, are released to annull humanity, which all the forces are still bewildered of whether they can trust Bravern and his words. And his huge stature makes it so, along with his rather gay story of how he and Isami are fated to bond together. But as much as they're being bored of hearing his backstory, he must still answer the call when the Superbia comes to attack the North Shore.

Once again, forces are called to stop the entities led by the rather strong Superbia, but without Isami, Bravern stands no chance of defeating him, which Lewis somes to save him, as much as Isami doesn't want to literally "get in the robot, Shinji!". Sure, Lewis offers himself, but Bravern makes it clear that only Isami can pilot it, if they want to ensure the safety of the world, and with this one battle, Bravern and Isami have proven their trust.

Gay ED, very expressive.

It's been a long while since I've craved a Tokutatsu-inspired series such as this, this could really prove to be a sleeper hit.

Where the hell's the missing comedy genre, huh, MAL!?

Favorite comedy since... 100 Girlfriends from last season. Huh. That's surprising.

Well this is certainly one way to get me to watch a gay love story.
Trying out (almost) every anime that airs each season since 2018.

Those subtle gay undertones... particularly prominent in the ending theme. Also, Isamiʼs personality flip feels similar to my perception of the show. Hated it after its first episode, loving it as of the very next.

This show is so casualyl condones torture, specifically waterboarding. The CIA jew that conducted Isami's waterboarding never gets any consequences, as if waterboarding is standard procedure and not a heinous act. Makes me hate America more and more. I was having fun before this episode, but this torture scene really gives pause.

I couldn't stop laughing. The sexual connotations used in the dialogue are downright hilarious. The action is entertaining for this NEW super robot series. I'm loving it so far.

This show strides a very thin line between tragedy, war, death, torture.... and making fun of gay sex. It's a bit cringe ngl

The robot is mega cringe, holy shit. What tf was he spouting about. The mix of seriousness and sillyness just feels off. Though I like it enough to continue. That girl at the end is the blue robo?

I don't know what to think about it, it's good to watch but a bit of a tonal mess. He liked our eccentric gay robot and I like the concept of this invasion more and more, if the series was less comedic it would be even better.

Could this be the remake of "The Legend of the Blue Wolves"?

It's only January but I already know what will be the best ED song of 2024. BL vibe is so real that can't even be canceled by "no homo".
But let's pretend that elephant in the room doesn't exist and talk about something else. This is borderline parody, I wish this anime get weekend morning timeslot (in Japan) to make the joke even more funny, but I guess some parents might not want their kids to watch two guys singing shirtless while touching each other's hands.
phantomfandom said:

actually, no. Intense brotherhood/camaraderie is a common trope in mecha/war animes. In Gundam it was very common for people, including guys, to meet "in nude", not even just shirtless, in their ethereal form, in a much more intimate and emotional setting. The "BL" you're referring to is a parody of that. It's not an elephant in the room, it's the intended joke. Also, several titles in the past put girls singing at the endings, getting close and giving hands just like they did. Be it with other characters or with a reflection of themselves. It is also very cliche, so that is also another parody. You people are just thinking too much and not getting the jokes at all.

That's the goofiest mecha I've ever seen lmao, he only wants Isami, and meanwhile Isami is getting tortured because of him, at least it ended well for the episode lol

Idk whether the show is supposed to be serious or a joke. Probably the latter. The jokes aren't really hitting for me though
