| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Kaiki :> Ha, I find that running scene to be amusing. So, Araragi apparently talked to Kaiki about Kanbaru before. How interesting. And also, Kaiki's outfit was pretty awesome during the dinner scene. I also notice she is using her other arm. Kaiki has some interesting advice as well. Great to see him around in this episode. He's one of my favorites from the franchise. The basketball match looks fun. |

| Kanbaru’s first encounter with Kaiki was hilarious. Loved how she immediately tried to run away. Kaiki runs fast as hell! Their lunch started off so awkwardly, but the reason Kaiki was so interested in talking with her was because he used to know her mother. He knows who Numachi is too. |

His typical way he talks and the way he kept saying "Niku niku niku" hahaha I just can't...it was so much amazement my face hurt from smiling too much. That Kanbaru fanservice at the beginning was ok but it was nothing compared to the pure amount of Kaiki... tl;dr I think I'm gay for Kaiki T_T |

| Kaiki... isn't dead.....? How... He got stabbed multiple time and left dead in the snow, how did he managed to survive? Did Senjougahara saved him? Anyway, glad to see he didn't lost his sarcastic tone :) It was damn hilarious the way he was running and flew by Suruga like it is nothing. Probably one of his ''tricks''. ''Niku! Niku!''. By the way, you messed up the cooking at one point, Kaiki. Yeah, I remember that he showed a lot of interest into Kanbaru, now we know why, or at least, I think we know. Because, you know, he's a crook. So the mystery get thicker. A demon collector will come to get her monkey paw. But somehow, she already lost it. Could that mean that this collector is in fact Numachi? Could she directly have taken the monkey paw from her? Maybe she's listening to those people problem to find the other pieces. |

| Hanamonogatari has just become awesome to me. Kaiki Alive??? Check Kaiki witty and badass as ever? You Bet Kaiki treating someone to a meal??? Yup Kaiki is Best Character in the series by a wide margin, so it's great to have him alive and kicking. 5/5 |

I think that the meat (both literally and figuratively) is supposed to represent "substance". Like, when Kaiki tells Kanbaru that people who eat lots of meat are happy, what he's really saying is that people who do things that have meaning for them and that are fulfilling will have happy, satisfying lives (in a cultural sense, meat represents prosperity because it's expensive; it's also considered--especially in Western cultures--to be the most substantial part of a meal). Kaiki also says that Kanbaru needs to eat more meat because she's scrawny. This is referring to how, for a long time, Kanbaru's life hasn't been truly fulfilling (the stuff that's dealt with in the Suruga Monkey arc in Bakemonogatari that she hasn't been able to fully move past, and also possibly some things from earlier in her life that involved previous times she used the Monkey's Paw). Those are ways that the idea of meat was used figuratively. Meat is used literally as imagery to represent the substance of the conversation. At the beginning of the conversation, Kaiki says, "I'll prepare the meat," meaning he's going to use the conversation to attempt to achieve some end. Also, when Kanbaru brings up the topic of Kaiki's feelings for her mom, Kaiki had just picked up a piece of meat. They were about to go off on another topic, but when the topic shifts to Kanbaru's mom, Kaiki puts down that piece of meat, symbolizing that he doesn't want to get into the "meat" of that topic. He does talk about it, but in really general terms. Also, as that topic is discussed and then the conversation goes on to other things, that piece of meat gradually burns and shrivels up into a crisp, symbolizing what happened to the topic of conversation it represented. At least, that was my take on what the meat meant. |
| Kaiki knew that Kanbaru was a track athlete at her school so i'm betting because he believed that his confrontation with Kanbaru would be soon that he probably trained his body weeks or months in preparation since he easily predicted that Kanbaru would upon first glance try to run from him. |
