Tsubaki makes her appearance this episode and there's chemistry between her and Kirishima already. I think she makes an interesting addition to the series and they even go on a short date together.

Compared to Yoshino, I think she looks more elegant both in appearane and personality.

I'm wondering if those blood will be a savior later, there might be an incident that cause Yoshino to lose a lot of blood, and Kirishima has to try his best convincing Tsubaki to give those blood to him.

Tsubaki is such a real one for Yoshino. I love her.

This anime looks so much better when it's staged at night vs daytime. Bright colours don’t suit it.

Yoshino's cousin Tsubaki is in town to deliver plot and be vaguely threatening. She's got really weird eyes. Who's going to win between her minuses and Shouma's rectangles? It's interesting how Tsubaki and Kirishima have such good reads on each other, at least.

People in earlier episodes were saying that this series has no business taking place in high school, and I'm starting to see where they're coming from. Between the screwed up relationship dynamics, gang wars, organ trafficking, et cetera, what does it add to the story to have Yoshino needing to study for exams?

So, she didn't actually remove the kidney, but instead, the cousin took her blood to create the illusion of it? Initially, I thought that Kirishima literally decided to return her kidney, but as expected, everything turned out to be rather prosaic.

Anyway, this anime reminds me more and more of Mahouka without the sci-fi, especially with the idea of frighteningly dangerous relatives and family friends.

@phantomfandom Me too, but it seems like she loves Yoshino enough to do this willingly.

@Lampblasted It seems to me that this is one of those shows where school ends quickly and we are dealing with young adult characters.

This anime is getting better and better each episode.
This episode gave the more important scenes a lot more time to shine, since it was more slow paced than the previous one, and that's absolutely a win!

So the girl that appears at the opening is Yoshino's cousin! And wow, what an interesting character she is. But no matter how unhinged she was, you could really see that she really cares for Yoshino! She payed her a visit to make sure she was doing alright with Kirishima, and to see how Kirishima really was. And since they are kinda alike, she could read Kirishima straight off in a few instances, and in actuality, Kirishima only really enjoys talking with Yoshino, which confirms that Kirishima for real has some trauma to unpack, but Yoshino is the only person he feels that he can trust and also that he enjoys being around.

Yoshino's cousin, besides being in love with her grandfather, is also the daughter of the owner of a big hospital, that does shady business on days off. It was actually Tsubaki that Yoshino called back in episode 1, and that actually was the person behind the selling of Yoshino's kidney. But we also get the reveal that actually, she didn't make Yoshino remove her kidney, like Yoshino thinks, but actually that she took 1,5L of blood instead, because she didn't also want to make Yoshino's wish just not real. It's actually a really interesting event, and I know that many people must be jumping from happiness, because everyone was so worried about her kidney xD
Tsubaki really is an interesting character, and this episode showed how much she cares for Yoshino, and is ready for anything to protect her, and I really enjoyed the detail that, at Yoshino's request, still put her through a dangerous "medical" act, to prove her point, but that wouldn't make permenant changes in her body.
Kinda funny that the voice actress for Tsubaki is the same person that does Chinatsu's voice from Blue Box, because the characters are so different, and honestly I couldn't even make the link between them, even though I'm watching these 2 anime at the same time basically.

But for me, the biggest revelation of the episode was actually that Kirishima has been in love with Yoshino as early as junior high school. This explains his reaction to Yoshino's attittudes in episode 1, as it didn't match his expectations. Kirishima is really down bad for Yoshino, and I honestly wouldn't be surprised that his deal with Yoshino's grandfather is that Yoshino's grandfather would send him Yoshino, and in return Kirishima would send something about his Yakuza clan, because for sure Yoshino's grandfather is preparing something.

Overall, I really liked this episode, as it quite shows what's making this anime stand out from the rest! Also, a bit sad thinking that we're almost half way through (expecting this anime will only be one cour).
Curious about the fact that this anime has been one of animes of this season that is growing the most in popularity, but it's score is actually going down a little bit each week. I suppose it's going to get a lot higher when the anime ends, but it's curious.
Also, don't forget to weekly stream The Oral Cigarettes' "Under and Over", because IT SLAPS.

Edit: Also, let's not forget the final scene, where at the cost of her grandfather's picture when he was younger, Tsubaki sent Kirishima a Yoshino picture, and the man was gagged.

I love Tsubaki's VA, she sounds so elegant. Now it's finally revealed Yoshino didn't actually had her kidney taken out, she thought she did but her cousin only actually took a lot of blood from her (1.5 liters) but not her kidney. This episode had a much more normal pace than the super fast pace of the previous episode so kudos for that. We also find out Kirishima secretly went to see Yoshino when he was in middle school so that explains his obsession with her a bit more.

I agree that the blood will certainly come handy later, but I doubt Kirishima would need to convince Tsubaki to give the blood to Yoshino, because she would just outright give it to her, since she clearly cares for Yoshino.

That's kinda true, the exams stuff just seems a bit off, because they really treat these characters as young adults, and not teenagers, which I think it's super nice, since it's different from most anime, but it's true that the school part just doesn't add a lot to the story, and they would be better off just making the characters young adults.
At the same time, the premise of the show would be a bit weirder if Yoshino was already an adult, because she wouldn't really need to live at the costs of her grandfather, but I think they could work that around.

Everyone need a cousin like Tsubaki fr. You gotta let people know you have someone in your corner in case they wanna fuck around and find out, play with/abuse you etc. I guarantee Kirishima will be thinking twice before pulling anything now lmao.

Tsubaki damn near a female version of Kirishima and maybe even more insane. Every scene when they were talking without Yoshino felt like she was the aggressor and Kirishima was on the back foot, especially the ferris wheel convo. Speaking of which, thank God they explained that Yoshino didn’t actually sell her kidney, just her blood. I was really concerned about that and the long term consequences.

Now obsessed Yandere coming to a mutual understanding.. not Tsubaki sending Kirishima Yoshino pics in exchange for young Renji pics lmao.

Tsubaki is hiding a lot behind her poker face smile. Never would I have guessed that she took 1,5 litre of Yoshino's blood. Considering the dangerous milieu she lives in it may come handy tonhave that in reserve. And well, I found the kidney story pretty hard to believe to begin with, so that seems more "reasonable".

She's a compelling character who cares for Yoshino, has a crush on Renji and her synergy with Kirishima is lowkey tense. Guess, that's bound to happen when two calculating characters engage in conversation.

I’m genuinely enjoying this anime more and more each week. It’s nothing special in terms of production value as far as animation and soundtrack. But the characters and specifically the character dynamics surrounding them are definitely unique and refreshing and it’s a shame as far as I’m aware the mangaka is basically on a permanent hiatus. And this is likely to not only not get another season but not even to have a finished story. Big shame.

I was not expecting her cousin (aunt?) to hit it off with Kirishima. Bit creeped out that she has Yoshino's blood but alrighty. Now that I think about it Yoshino is probably scared of hospitals because of the "procedure" she had.

Kinda makes me wonder if there is anyone not unhinged in this anime.

The soap opera-style dramatic happenings and convoluted genealogical tree of a crime family and relationship between the kids of the current generation in it. A yakuza socialite who is the go-to contact for off-the-book medical procedures and is in love with and worships her grandfather, the head boss. And a guy who can toggle between personalities on a dime to go between brutalizing people and pursuit of an obsessive love.

Other than those with delayed premieres, I can't believe this was the last series of the season I picked up (as of now anyway) and did so on a passing whim, when it's quickly shot to near the top of my favorites. This is the kind of stuff which is right up my alley.

@yummy_W4ffle
Everyone keeps mentioning how she’s ride or die for Yoshino but I feel we are glossing over that part 💀

Also, everyone’s theory that she’ll use the blood to help Yoshino is interesting but blood can only be stored for a few months. So unless things start popping off soon, which they very well might with Kirishima’s not so subtle foreshadowing about people wanting to kill him, I’m interested to see if that’s the direction they’ll go with it.

As if one crazy person wasn't enough, now Yoshino's cousin has appeared! She's basically the female version of Kirishima, just as obsessed with Yoshino, but also seems to have a thing for her grandfather, Renji. What a wild couple, especially since they plan to sleep together after Kirishima "takes Yoshino's purity" 😅.

Tsubaki is a pretty good cousin, as she helps Yoshino with his whole kidney-selling story, but not without extracting almost two liters of blood from him in exchange! The fact that Yoshino says she trusts Tsubaki more than Kirishima says a lot. A fun and interesting episode!

Her cousin Tsubaki is just the female version of Kirishima, just as unhinged and observant as he is. It was like watching a chess match with masters playing. Also, loved Yoshino's fit this episode, so cute! Also, I can't believe I'm saying this, but this bastard is starting to grow on me. It actually seems like he gives a fuck about our girl, taking such good care of her when she's sick.

With Ueda Reina as her seiyuu, Tsubaki's arara demeanour is a scene stealer. She's a nice addition to the cast.

Good Yoshino's secret is out in the open, but I did not expect, despite being spoiled of it, that she isn't aware that her kidney is intact.

Anyway, too bad Kirishima and Tsubaki didn't have sex because prior to that, there's some tension between them.

This is my favorite episode since the premiere and, IMO, the best. Tsubaki is a great character, her dynamic with Kirishima is thrilling to watch!

I thought the truth about the whole kidney subplot was pretty clever, not to mention unexpected. I wonder if the blood will come in handy later? Like Yoshino will need a lifesaving transfusion or something.

The animation looked a little off esp when Yoshino was going down the escalator.

So Tsubaki wants to fuck the first person Yoshino is going to fuck? How is no one mentioning that?

I hate when people repeat what I just said but louder like Kirishima did to Tsubaki. I do love Tsubaki though! Thank god she didn't take Yoshino's kidney like she thinks. I think Kirishima wanted to buy Yoshino's kidney back :')

I enjoyed this episode, quite a bit. I love the choice for Tsubaki's VA, she sounds so smooth and it just feeds into her calculated madness, much like Kirishima's. Her eyes' design reminds me of led light bars, I think it's even more glaring in the anime, in the manga it's just disquieting. Piercing gaze indeed. I wish we had Tsubaki and Kirishima's conversation shown from more angles but animation ain't cheap.

So I'm happy she still has both kidneys, but I'm confused on if she knows? I'm too lazy to go back and verify the dialogue. Either way, she did do an extreme medical procedure, just not one with permanent organ removal.

That photo is glorious and an absolute vibe. She must be protected at all costs!
