Croaking old geezer that's been watching anime for 60 years. If you've watched every episode of Kimba the White Lion at least 3 times, while holding rabbit ears to get a clearer picture on a 13" B&W TV, then we might have something in common.
Imo, it's one of those "must see" anime besides Death Note, FMA, Natsume Yuujinchou, Non Non Biyori, and Yuru Camp for example. Sure, people have different tastes, but anyway.
Thank you. A real life Chi would be a perfect Christmas gift, meow! =^_^=
Hmm, yes. We also have pasties in Finland. I know a lot of people who likes them.
Too bad Olkiluoto has become a one big, costly joke. I'm sure it hasn't given us a good reputation when it comes to nuclear power. I can't but shake my head to all those constant setbacks.
"Olkiluoto has become an example of all that can go wrong in economic terms with new reactors," and that Areva and the TVO "are in bitter dispute over who will bear the cost overruns and there is a real risk now that the utility will default.
No I have pretty much given up on live action stuff long ago. I find it just puts me to sleep any more.
So no live-action stuff put you on nostalgia mode for you?
I have hundreds of DVDs and blu rays just laying around collecting dust. I was a big fan of martial arts movies. War movies. Histortical dramas. Sci-Fi and some horror.
So you don't have any desire to watch maybe a live-action foreign-language TV shows/TV dramas? I mean it can become a new addiction or a new thing for you. What will it take for you to watch live-action again?
Anime is like dope. One is too many and 1000 never enough.
You don't have anything else or any other interesting entertainment beside anime. What if I told you beside being a anime/manga fan, I'm also a big fan of East Asian TV dramas, and I also adored foreign-language TV dramas/shows like for example, do you watch these:
Yep, I watched the 2009 K-drama version of Boys Over Flowers (yeah that's a live-action adaptation of manga). Also, I like to watch any non-English language European dramas like for example:
What if I told you I watched wuxia and xianxia, do you know what those are:
What about Tokusatsu like Super Sentai (that would later become Power Rangers), Ultraman, or Kamen Rider?
Are those video the one I clipped above, would you be able to watch those beside anime, are those something you can watch? Because I do watch them, I do have entertainment beyond anime and manga.
So you were a long time anime fan and yet you never heard of MAL until a few years ago. If you had a Crunchyroll account, then somebody would've told you about MAL during the same time you had CR. I have a CR profile too (had that profile since 2006) until CR went premium, and yet I still know about MAL somewhere in 2009/early 2010 and then I registered for it. I find that hard to believe that you didn't know about MAL until a few years ago and now you just registered for it this year.
you said: After checking out the Wild West shows on Reddit and Discord, and a couple other places, this seemed like the most stable community.
Uh, I hate to say this but MAL forum was more active in late 2000's and 2010's then now. I know because I was on this forum during that time and it was way more active there back then.
I mean I have one other question I like to ask you: Do you have a Anilist profile? Because I signed up for it last year, if you do give me a follow, and I'll follow you back there. Do you have a ANN/Anime News Network profile, do you go on that website?
Lots of intersting and intelligent people with well thought out opinions. OK, there's always a troll or 2 wherever you go. But I have seen a lot less of them here than in other places.
That happens a lot on many forum, anime/manga is no exception. Any fandom you are in, there will be a lot of elitism, that comes with the territory of being in the fandom, anime/manga no exception.
Well, anyway welcome to MAL (even though you could joined here back in late 2000's/early 2010's during the same time period I did).
I hate to ask, but according to your MAL profile, you were born in the 60's!!! Really??? How come you didn't get a MAL profile like some decades ago like back in 2000's, or early 2010's? I had this MAL profile since 2010, and I've been a anime fan since 2006 (although I was exposed to anime at a very young age). This is not meant as an insult to you, but I find that hard to believe that you didn't get a MAL profile back then.
I think Fate was one of the first shows I watched back in 2020 when I started watching anime - so it being a convoluted mess of a timeline honestly became part of the endearing charm for me.
Nothing like heroes of justice, bone of my sword, pseudo-intellectual conversations about idealism and cute girly boys.
But Steins Gate is an absolute modern classic - not seen Link Click... another I've never seen is Erased as I've heard mixed things. But Steins Gate was absolutely one of if not the best time travel shows I've seen.
Psycho Pass is a truly great police procedural mix with dystopia and a little bit of philosophy to get the brain pumping. Gen Urobuchi who also wrote Fate/Zero and Madoka Magica was the led writer so if you liked those ones then you'll certainly like Psycho Pass.
Fate was originally created by Kinoku Nasu and Takauchi Takashi and then other writers add to it, working alongside Nasu. So Fate/Zero it was Urobuchi, Apocrypha it was Yūichirō Higashide, and Strange Fake is from the same guy who made Baccano and Durarura - Ryōgo Narita.
I'm also fond of 2010s stuff like Psycho Pass, Steins Gate, Goblin Slayer and Fate/Zero. And there were some really good shows in the last few years Frieren, Vinland Saga and Cyberpunk Edgerunners
Yeah, I think the oldest show I've seen is Gundam cause my brother is super into Gundam. So I think that's 1979. I mostly watch 2000s pseudo-intellectual shows for some reason.

Indeed.
Thanks for the friend request. It's nice to meet you. :)
And Merry Christmas!
