This episode had fights that were basically kids vs adults who were experienced and way bigger than them in physical size. Kinda seems unfair but Tokiyuki didn't give up.

The battlefield looked like burning hell. However, I love how Tokiyuki just kept pushing forward and didn't throw in the towel. He has improved again with his evading skills and shows more of his potential. Fubuki is definitely no pushover and he made his moves looks so easy.

Yeah, animation took a HUGE step up from whatever the hell that was last episode. Not really any surprise though, considering the Imai is the SB and ED for this episode, the episode everyone's been waiting for.

You can just tell how much fun he had making that one scene where Tokiyuki is just spinning around bro lol. Dude ascended and realized who his god was...

Do find it funny how much of a joke they made Sadamune feel like this episode. They had a little bicker and that's about it lol.

@IzanaSolos I haven't seen the episode yet so I might be wrong, but last ep was still good overall at least compare to most of the anime's this season. Brief CGI scenes didn't make it a Tower of God level episode animation wise. Theirs always going to be a floor and ceiling for these types of anime.

Weekly dose of twink bf 😋

Fairs Cloverworks cooked up something FIERCE in this episode, up there with the first few eps which is nice to see after things kinda dipped a bit around episode 5 and 6.

Tokiyuki fighting bug dude was some of the most satisfying action I’ve seen in a long time, narratively and production wise. You know how bad you gotta beat someone ass to get them to think you’re the Buddha himself 😂 that Tokiyuki dodging and running in a circle animation was splendid, wow. Feels like this was the moment where he finally became “the elusive samurai”

They tried giving buddy a little backstory at the end, nah idc what sort of insecurity he had in the past, get that dude out of here lol. At least he won’t be terrorising any villages anymore now that Sadamune reassigning him.

I’ll give it to the clown dude that Fubuki fought, hiding your abilities so people don’t expect too much out of you is a good idea, just unfortunate he had to come up against Fubuki lol. He absolutely demolished him man that fight looked great too and the final no look blade slice from Fubuki.. whew

Ayako and Kojirou fight against the other bandits was great too and note to self, do NOT call Ayako a brat lol.

Awesome episode, Fubuki officially part of the resistance now and seeing Suwa get so emotional about Tokiyuki surviving this ordeal was sweet ❤️

Takayuki taking Fubuki's advice to learn the Elusive Sword for use against Shokan, he doesn't know what's coming for him. Aside from that, it's kids vs. adults in the name of war, though with the usual psychology to earn as many hits while taking less damage as much as possible. The elusiveness of Tokiyuki proves too much against Shokan, for someone who is always displaced as someone un-befit to lead his own territory and only thought of being second, his life was forever a mistake...until he turned to the path of evil, to only then be received enlightenment from the elusive samurai himself proclaiming him as Buddha.

The war may be over, but Sadamune arrives too late for reinforcements until Genba's arrival with the Suwa forces, that Yorishige's premonition thankfully was false that Tokiyuki lived to see another day, despite Sadamune saving Shokan to rally him onto their side for their eventual rematch against the Suwa clan. But Fubuki defintely is both surprised and reinvigorated that he's serving Tokiyuki, not Yorishige.

Attack on Titan action animation director Arifumi Imai as storyboarder and episode director this episode, it is animation MASTERCLASS.

This episode was absolute the best episode of all of them. And daamn, Tokiyuki having so much fun doing this "kill" was so fun to watch! He was so freaking adorable and NOW?!?!?! Argh! I'm becoming more and more happy with it!!!! The animation was finally back on it's peak! So nice! Still a bit weird how episode directing is done with series. It should be great animation with all episodes. But oh well. Still a fantastic episode!
Life is too short for looking at the past. Enjoy your 'now' and just prepare a bit for the future~

Ok so yeah he'll kill enemies by cutting them and then running away bleeding them to death. Though this time the bandit leader survived barely.

Still this anime's style of being fun and happy while death blood and gore is around them is quite fun and interesting. Never before have I been so happy to see a child kill a man by bleeding them out while running around happily and then becoming Buddha in their eyes.

10 year olds killing adults is surprisingly/unsurprisingly fun.

The elusive warriors have won the battle! They all defeated their opponents with struggle but still managing to defeat stronger more experienced foes. Tokiyuki delivering that live on Shokan wrist seems insignificant at first but if you don't treat a wound like that soon it can be fatal. Tokiyuki mastery of dodging allowing him to jump around that small room without being hit long enough for Shokan to become incapacitated. It was so fun seeing Tokiyuki become exhilarated as he zoomed around. The constant smile on his face while he showed off those running away skills. The animation and effects as Tokiyuki ran around in circles dodging both the sword strikes and the spraying blood looked incredible as always. Shokan truly didn't know what he was getting himself into with Tokiyuki. Meanwhile both Ayako and Kojirou facing another strong adult had a bit more trouble but still managed to defeat him. Ayako making the sacrifice play of grabbing onto that long nanabata spear so that Kojirou could deliver the killing blow. Fubuki facing another deranged member of Shokan party the guy with the French flag on his face. Who could disguise his exact strikes but not well enough. Fubuki still able to tell which attack he was gonna use and defeat him all the same. Everyone coming out on top in their own battles, even if Shokan did survive and be recruited by Sadamune. Fubuki will make a great addition to the elusive warriors and strengthen their group and Tokiyuki himself

Tokiyuki's dodging against Ant-Man was a work of art this episode. It's pretty crazy how edging his own death turns him on, but he's basically untouchable anyway.

Fubuki effortlessly destroyed the "strongest" enemy and became an official retainer. That'll be a huge boon, since he seems OP and clearly knows a lot about strategy. Things are looking good for our Elusive Warriors...

The episode was really good and tokiyuki's character development also is going in a good direction...without losing his main strength...his elusiveness.

And the most astonishing part was where I saw the subtitle literally stating about Yorishige's son...someone tell me Yorishige's age!!!

I mean he looks so young😵‍💫😅😭

Tokiyuki Hojo might be a great warrior if Fubuki trained him well. He’s the rightful heir of Kamakura shogunate and he’s lucky to have so many protective friends. Also, I find Yorishige Suwa a bit annoying, but I’m sure he’ll do anything to keep Tokiyuki safe.

Tokiyuki (or Chojumaru, as Fubuki says😅) used his sword skills to defeat Shokan, but the upcoming battle with Sadamune would be even tougher. There is harmony between Suwa Grand Shrine party and they’ll get past all difficulties.

Animation, characters, ending theme, story and the way that Japanese history is presented are beyond amazing.

I did not like the last few episodes, the animation wasn't great but more importantly I was really put off by how the tone of kept shifting dramatically from "very very dark" to "extremely lighthearted jokes". I was pretty close to dropping the show but decided to give it another go with this ep. Glad I did.

I don't know what changed, but the animation this episode was superb. I lost count of how many times I was impressed. It was really something.
And this episode managed to actually hold a single tone throughout the episode while also including jokes. I wasn't being constantly torn out of the story for unrelated jokes.

I hope the show continues like this because this episode was excellent.

Apart from BS that is "seasoned warriors (grown ass men) beaten by darn kids in battle", this is an enjoyable show.

That was a brutal fight but Tokiyuki smiling in that situation, built different. His enemy even got enlightment lol. Ayako and Kojirou also won their fight, they're both strong but Fubuki's on another level entirely. Great to have him as retainer, probably gonna be his second in command/general. Great strategist and super strong as well. Expected reaction from him after the reveal but was still hilarious to see. Moment with Yorishige was wholesome. Cool animation/visuals again this episode.

So Tokiyuki was able to outlast and avoid Shokan's attacks, well done except for the fact that Shokan survived which I thought he might since Tokiyuki didn't finish the job. At least his days as a bandit are over but I'm thinking he will show up again down the road.

Tokiyuki running around confusing Shokan was something else.
Hats off to Ayako grabbing his weapon then taking a beating so they could win that fight.
Fubuki will be a great retainer for sure.

I have ADD, ADHD & AUTISM, but this won't stop me. Let's keep having fun together.

That's some next level disrespect, beat someone with a slow bleed and dodging every single strike AND every single splat of blood going everywhere. I assume the way we saw Tokiyuki is the way Shouka was perceiving him as was losing blood.
My expectation is in the future, using this territory he was given, he will support Tokiyuki since he is his Buddha, his purifying light.

I'm guessing his future sight was still missing, so was extra emotional to see Tokiyuki OKAY. I was wondering what Genba was doing, I knew he was doing something but had no idea what it was since he's not a fighter and we didn't see him. Well played by him securing reinforcements.
5/5, this kid is great and looking forward to him and main bad guy and main bad guy has that "everyone I just walk past loses their heads" & "everyone who hates me loves me" scary going on.

very gud episode. yorishige has a interesting curvy blade type of weapon, i wonder how he woud fight with it
I wondered if Shizuku's blowgun darts were coated with a deadly poison, but the purpose was just to provoke him to let his rear guard down.

@Tufani

It amazes me that there are some really astute people on this forum!
Yorishige's sword certainly has a wiggly, twisted silhouette that is alien to our image of curved Japanese swords or straight ones. Could he have fought a real battle with such a thing?
Let's recall Yorishige's profile. He is the general in chief of the temple warrior army "Suwa Shintou," the head of the Suwa Taisha clergy, and also "a person who is treated as a deity living in this world."
The sword seems to be based on several actual relics from around the 5th century called "蛇行剣: Dakou Ken (a sword in the shape of a snake's trail)." It is thought to be an ancient sacred weapon used by priests in rituals to break off evil spirits. Such a sword would not have been newly forged in the 12th century or later. It seems reasonable to interpret it as the very ancient relic itself that had been kept at Suwa-taisha Shrine for a long time. Holding up such an uncanny shaped sword announces that he is the living deity himself, who is going into the battle, that frightens his enemies and is inspiring his allies beyond extremes. It doesn't have a scabbard because it is a sword to be shown.
I don't know if this is the kind of sword that the historical Suwa Yorishige carried on the battlefield. Unlike Japanese swords since the medieval times, the blades on both sides of the sword may be used to cut people, but blood may be considered unholy, so it was probably never intended for practical use in combat.

I should have told it for episode #08. In the chapel house, after a series of questions and answers with the child in front of him, Shoukan finally asks his name. Tokiyuki responds, "Chojumaru of Suwa Taisha." Shoukan recognizes the courageous Chojumaru as a samurai, and declares that for those minutes, he too will face him as a samurai, but not as an akutou. Tokiyuki also asks the akuto in front of him what his name is.
This procedure of recognition of each other's identity is what is necessary in a duel between samurais fighting for honor. By making it clear "who avenged whom," the victor's lord is obligated to give him a reward commensurate with his deeds, and the victor has a legitimate right to ask for it. In this way, the principle order of the Bushi class has been preserved.
Sixty years before Tokiyuki's time, the Mongol armies that ruled China invaded Japan. As was customary, Japanese samurais tried to identify themselves at loud even to Mongol soldiers who did not understand their language. It is said that they were shot with bows or surrounded in bunches during the address, with devastating results.

Born later, Shoukan could not accept the fate of living as his elder brother's vassal.
Until the end of the Kamakura period, when the population of the warrior class was small, all children (in wedlock) were given equal shares of territory. This was no different for daughters, and in this sense, the status of women was high. However, they were expected to defend their fiefs by their own strength. So that there were not a few women who took up arms and fought.
This inheritance system eventually led to the depletion of the limited territory. When the end of Muromachi period to the period of full-scale turbulence arrived, states emerged in which large family-like clans rallied under feudal lords who concentrated their power and wealth, and security with other states came to be ensured through in-laws' relationships.

The voice of Lord Kusunoki was heard.

Did you notice the red bird feathers resembling the pattern of a peacock's on both sides of laughing, fleeing Tokiyuki? These are the same wings that grow out of Tokiyuki as he jumps in the OP.
It's a "鳳凰: Hou-ou" -- an imaginary bird, the "noblest of winged creatures" from Chinese legend, that appears as a harbinger of splendid things to come, and is IMPOSSIBLE TO CATCH. Some believe that the legendary flaming-colored bird known as the "朱雀: Suzaku" is also a Hou-ou.
For a moment, the light that flamed in the shape of a bird spreading wings appeared in the vision of Shoukan in despair when he could not even graze Tokiyuki no matter how hard he wielded his sword.
In relation to Western civilization, Hou-ou is an image associated with the Phoenix, the firebird. It is synonymous with the legend of resurrection from the ash.
Theres no chance a hord of ants will take the flying Hou-ou down.

About the final cut. Shizuku told that "At Suwa Taisha, you may ask rice." Fubuki was surprised. "Is it paradise?".
So far, the grains in Fubuki's meals have been looked yellowish. The main grain he, and the common people, ate was not rice but small yellowish grains of millet, which was responsible for people's nutrition until the first half of the 20th century.
For an offering to the deity, a large amount of rice is delivered to the shrine. Rice was a grain of such high value that it was considered a substitute for currency, but other grains, including millet, were not valued as such.

* The bias against rice, akin to faith, led to the national spread of beriberi at the end of the 19th century, the discovery of the nutrient vitamin, and a distortion of agricultural policy until now. Today, millet is used almost exclusively for animal feed, but it is sometimes mixed with rice as a healthy food, however, the cost is now higher than that of pure rice.

A scampering glamorous woman could be lethal for heroes. _(꒪꒪」∠)_

Cloverworks cooked good.

Tokiyuki "cowardly" sword technique was handy in wearing out Shokan. How small space he has, he his chase loving weirdo. He can't be caught.
The Fubuki fight was good too. That french faced dude was hyped but in the end Fubuki outclassed him & finishes off quickly.
Ayako & Kojiro was my favourite. After looking like insurmountable odds both of them complemented well and killed of that scum.

Yorishige came in knick of time to fend off Sadamune. Yorishige has a son too huh. Excellent episode.

Best episode easily. This anime keeps flip-flopping for who knows what reason.

Ayako's kill was so satisfying. Like she just hit a six.

And a child having fun while you think you have him cornered in a small room would certainly be scary. Demon Buddha makes so much sense.
