Another change of scenery as Ron and Toto go watch a meteor shower together. However, this episode also involves a case of about a murder from 10 years ago.

Obviously given this anime's context, they get involved with the case and Ron puts his thinking to the test. Truly, he is a clever man.

Why wasn't Ron incarcerated or placed in a mental institution? Even considering temporary insanity, he still took the lives of seven people.

Invited to the meteor shower viewing event at the Nandan Island Observatory are Toto and Ron. Among the guests is John Grizzly, the instructor of "Closed Circle" at BLUE. A murder occurred during the viewing event on the island ten years ago, prompting the observatory director to invite the vigilant detective Toto and the renowned detective Grizzly for security reasons. Ron never had the opportunity to attend one of Grizzly's classes, but he recognizes him as one of the few instructors he considers superior.

I find this case pretty interesting; we have the locked room expert from Blue, and it appears we're dealing with a locked room mystery here as well! Although I'm certain the instructor will be initially skeptical of Ron. I'm eager to see how the two of them navigate through this situation. Also, did Ron mention that his ancestor was a detective ignorant of the solar system?! Excuse me, but that sounds like a hint that he's related to Sherlock Holmes, a detective who lacked knowledge in those areas. Imo, that BLUE instructor seems highly suspicious. I hope Toto navigates through this without encountering any significant problems.

Isshiki is approaching the truth, but is there a risk of him being silenced as well?

That's nice, have an organization or good lawyer to brush off a crime that you were caught red handed by the police.
And kill 7 people with a knife that's some serious martial arts.

"It's dangerous to walk over these shards barefoot" - yeah that in itself should be enough of a clue that he didn't do it. Don't have to be that smart not to go without shoes if you want to stage such a scene. But also beyond that, double clue: the gun and the key is just too much. Such a star teacher should know that very well - same way he should know, as Ron's teacher in particular, that Ron is useless with a gun, apparently. If anyone's suspicious now, it's him, with how quick he was to have Ron arrested.

Wow it's even better than I expected.

But... There have always been two things bothering me regarding this case (even in the manga).

1.) It's very unlikely that if something like at BLUE would have happened in real life, they would have let Ron get away with seven murders (regardless if he did it or not and was framed or whatever happened). Having lost his memories and let's suppose even his sanity even briefly being accused of killing people would have at least been reason to send him to a mental facility. I don't know anything about the legal system in Japan (or England) but that's just unrealistic. So I wish they would have had a better explanation why he simply lost his license.

2.) The other one is EVERYONE (including Ron. Although this situation must have shocked him so in his case it's understandable) didn't notice the most obvious factor in this case. Even when I read the manga I saw it right away and it was actually my first thought. Like for a detective Grizzly seems a little oblivious.

What I really liked is when Toto shouted at Ron and brought him back to his senses. It was among the few times his character was rather strong than simply existing and I felt that when Ron expressed his relief over him being there and investigating to prove his innocence. They share such a great bond.

The humor was once again perfect too. Ron's love for brown sugar syrup is clear to see. If it was possible I'm sure he'd marry brown sugar syrup and honestly? I'd ship that :D. And his hula dance was <3 :D :D :D.

Like I've said if something was wrong it wasn't the adaptation itself. But it's still interesting to see a case where Ron is accused and also learning more of his backstory (I already knew but it's still nice). Can't wait for the next episode (one week is too long TT___TT).

Ok so Ron was barefoot, so I think he was planted there before the lights were smashed.

The lights were likely shot out and the killing shot on the victim were likely done before the observatory window opened so it was still soundproof. When the killer had everything planted the way they wanted it they opened the window and fired the final shot to draw everyone's attention.

The chef is my prime suspect, she wasn't on the roof when the shot was heard and she turned up last to the crime scene with flashlights... as if she knew the lights would be broken. Her screaming in the observatory earlier could've been her testing how good the soundproofing is. And Ron having his own unique meal let her slip in sedatives. Motive is unclear as of yet.

I really love these two parter mysteries making me feel smart by working it out.

It’s very surprising that Ron was let off “killing those seven people”

Why did the chef brought flashlights before they opened the door?
Why a suppossedly top tier detective doesn't seem strange someone barefoot, surrounded by crystals without a scratch?

The first one can be shrug off for the characters, but there's no way both Toto and the Blue teacher are that stupid.

But well, a character can be as smart as the writer.

Wait the biggest question is how the hell did Ron get off the hook for SEVEN murders??

It’s cool to see one of the few BLUE instructors Ron considers superior. This should be a very interesting case.

I wonder how Ron will exonerate himself in the next episode, and how much Toto will help him. We all know he isn't the killer after all.

At the time of the dome rotation and gunshot we clearly saw who were at the roof: the Blue instructor, the weird haircut guy, the director and Toto. So neither can be the shooter.

Those missing were only the idol and the cook, so assuming Ron is not the killer only one of those two could be the shooter. It is weird this was not pointed out by the supposed genius Blue instructor.

Director, weird hair-guy, the instructor himself and Toto cannot be the shooter, and they had each other as an alibi. They cannot be the shooter but one of them might still be the killer. Perhaps the Director had the cook shoot the photographer for whatever reason - who knows, perhaps to revive the notoriety of the observatory after 10 years and bring more tourists.

Or the Blue instructor had either the idol or the cook shoot her and frame Ron to finally get him for murder after 5 years.

As for the incident 5 years ago Ron almost certainly hypnotized (not "pressured", I don't get why they keep repeating that BS) the seven murderers to kill each other. Perhaps that's when his mesmerizing quirk activated for the first time, or it was the incident that generated it.

I have no idea though why he was holding a bloody knife. 99% certain he killed them suggests there was still no hard proof, and that percentage was probably a subjective estimation of the instructor. If there was hard proof a mere "I don't remember" would not have cleared him for seven murders. Memory loss, after all, can easily be faked.

While the culprit is most likely not Ron I suspect the chef is involved since she could've drugged Ron's black syrup meal. Plus she works there and already knew the location of the telescope room key since she was already inside when Ron and company arrived.

We got another multi parter on our hands, you know I was excited to see Part 1 in the title lol. The situation this time around is a tricky one, at first it seemed like the only culprit could be Ron, especially with the backstory that was revealed about Ron by his old teacher Grizzly. Of course I wasn’t buying that shit lol, it was very obvious Ron was being framed, and to make matters worse Ron wasn’t denying it and was ready to be arrested, but thankfully we have a Toto lol, now just need him to form a band and learn to play Africa.

And now with Ron back in the game, I’m definitely excited to see what steps they take to finding out who the true culprit is. I’m thinking Grizzly is too obvious, just like last time with Spitz Fire not being the culprit, so I think it has to be one of the randos, I’m thinking the idol girl just because you’d least suspect her but I have no evidence to support it lol, she’s cute tho so that would be unfortunate. And lastly, RIP the photographer girl, we didn’t see much of her but I liked her design.

Was looking forward to Chekhov's gun showing up but darn thought Onodera would live longer than that. Had a hunch that Onodera would have some reason to go to this.

The fact they knew about that incident and are still willing to go to this event is somewhat baffling to me unless they came for revenge

Shame that Ron or one of his relatives or even perhaps this professor couldn't solve that mystery back then. He's kind of in a closed circle cases right now so maybe he'll be able to work this out along with Toto.

On another note, Orihime is cute. The star pun she made when she was introduced was kinda funny.

A large part of my opinion will be complete after the sequel events in the next episode ..

\But there are some beautiful points in this episode, such as the astronomical views, the diversity of characters, the challenges, and the spatial circumstances of the crime, where there is a corpse and a person who we believe is not the criminal, and he thought of a weapon as the murder weapon, and he has the key to the main door, and there is only one exit door. How will this puzzle be solved? I'm looking forward to it

Idk man, my heart is screeming that it's the head of facility.
I mean he have all the auction, knows all the spots hiding a gun shouldn't be hard for him if it's his place+ who knows any only after 10 years this weird idea poped up and he chosen Ron as his target after inviting someone from the blue as well with him.

He is very sus to me as if he is aware of Ron's ability.

Locked room mystery but is it really? Detectives missed at least six factors.
1. she was shot in the back but ron only makes people kill themselves. kind of hard to do from the back.
2. it was not a locked room; the gunshot came after the telescope was already opened.
3. he was not wearing shoes and yet had no damage to his feet.
4. no one checked the magazine or chamber of the gun to see if it was fired recently
5. gunpowder residue is easy to obtain, as well as fingerprints. he wasn't wearing gloves.
6. where did the glass come from and why did they remove the suspect from the room before figuring out the glass display? call in forensics and we can figure it out.

these detectives suck.
i still think it's the cook.

We finally see little miss bandages from the ending animation. I immediately decided she did it. She and the chef were late to the hall. And how'd the chef know they'd need flashlights before they broke in? Ok mind change.. the chef did it.

The missing 2 hrs is a concern. I wonder if there is a way to keep the body warm and stop the onset of rigor. I also can't rule out a set up and she's alive or an elaborate suicide.

The meteor shower viewing party meant for Ron to get away from sleuthing. the Nandan Island famous for black sugar syrup...and its main attraction, the Nandan Observatory.

The observatory being a stress-relieving place for the chef Unno, and there's once again another BLUE closed circle instructor: John Grizzly. Obviously, there is a case here, but it has aged considerably, and the leads gone cold, which is why Director Jumonji wants to hold the meteor shower viewing again. As expected, Ron's food is all laden with black sugar syrup, and Toto wanting to ask John about a cure to his forbidden sleuthing, indeed he has a story about it, which he got off lightly with the barring of his detective license, or rather it'd be the death penalty. But then, a gunshot in the observatory has Toto and the others finding out that Onodera got shot...and Ron as well?

Ron was asleep, and since Onodera was shot clean, John makes this a total case where only him and Toto can solve this case. With all present clues, it's easy to pinpoint Ron as the culprit since this creates a closed-door situation, and there is irrefutable evidence against him. This is exactly the Bloody Training Incident Ron had back in BLUE 5 years ago, but the factt that he cannot wield a gun, he really didn't think that he was the culprit in that exact incident.

If Ron didn't done it, it's a clear case of him being framed for the case, so who dunnit?

I haven't even finished the episode yet, but my first thought when the murder was committed: "and how did you know it was gonna be dark inside, lady?"

Then I rewinded a bit and the shot of the director talking to the chef who came out of nowhere made me conclude that they're probably working together.

The black syrup was probably spiked with sleeping drugs.

"You'd never try to kill an innocent person". He did try to drown the lady who was acting out of self-defense. She may have committed a crime in hiding the body, but I wouldn't say she's a murderer.

Also, Toto didn't believe Ron was the killer from the start but it took him quite some time to figure out that Ron is being framed by the real killer... Hmm...
