Recommendations

Both are stories that deal catastrophes and it's effects in a realistic approach. Both have siblings as the main characters whom develop a strong bond through out.

Despite Ano Hana tries to keep scenes on a more happy stage, the sad moments don't ever miss a single episode to have some space. Those two anime might result way different from eachother, but i think if you try to watch them both you'll get to understand and have the same feeling that they both will give you. Plus both stories are very good, the art and the colors are very well cured. Highly recommended both~

These two shows are similar in that they're both about major Japanese earthquakes, the difference is that Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 is good.

Both anime dealt with a section of the environment getting destroyed in some form.
report Recommended by Natsume-Chan
Mari and Balsa are very similar because they are like a protective mother figure for the children in both animes.

Tragedy happens and people struggling to survive. Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 is better though; no violence, no fan service, just pure humanity.

Both deal with the tragedies of natural disasters. Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 from the perspectives of a group of victims, while Rescue Wings shows a rescue helicopter pilot.

Both have a pair of siblings that try to survive a catastrophic situation both end in tragedy and are super sad => biggest difference: Tokyo Magnitude 8 takes place in the modern time, is about brother and sister, and has an earthquake as a catastrophe Whereas Giovanni no Shima takes place in Japan around 1945-50 + later years, is about 2 brothers and has war and the later occupation of the soviets as their catastrophic situation.

Gakkougurashi and Tokyo Magnitude share similar plot ideas. Each show has a tragic disaster, 8.0 earthquake and zombie apocalypse. The main cast composition is also similar in each series. Gakkougurashi has a group of high school girls and Tokyo Magnitude has an adult and two younger children. Both shows feature survival in different ways of how society would handle tragedy. These shows also have a psychological twist to them and showcase the main characters different ways of grieving.

- both deal with the aftermath of a destroyed city (Hadashi no Gen being caused from the 1945 bombing of Hiroshima, and Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 being caused by an earthquake). - both deal with the after effects of a tragedy as told from a child's perspective. - both have protagonists that deal with the concept of death on a massive scale. - both have major themes influenced around family and friendship, and the importance of it during tragic times.

Not bad anime about cool adults and the children they take care of. As the series goes on, they end somewhat well.

The first episode of both these anime start of quietly and uneventful, then suddenly, the characters' lives get turned upside-down and calamity ensues. One caused by titans breaching the wall in Shingeki while in the other, an earthquake tears down the city.

Tragedy can bring forth hope in its own way. These two animes in particular show that in their own way. Tokyo Magnitude shows how our main protagonist lives her life after the earthquake that struck Japan and caused the people to have many losses. While Kimi no Na wa shows our two main characters who wind up in great confusion when living someone else's life and also how they were able to break out of the confusion. These events bring about a huge change in these characters' lives. Changes that one, the viewer or character, will not expect.

Of the anime I've seen in the past year, both of these have come to surprise me and because of the similar art styles, it made it really easy to get interested each of them.

They both deal with the aftermath of an earthquake. Tokyo Magnitude is about a brother and sister immediately an earthquake hits while Omoi no Kakera is five years after one. Both are really good.

Japan is struck by an extremely strong earthquake. Both series show how it happens and the consequences from different angles.

This is a must-see if you're a fan of hotarubi no mori e.Seriously,It gives you the same feeling and yes,I'm saying that you'll cry ur heart out 😭😭.The similarities is where there's spiritual concept in both stories(the main characters are basically spirits). Tokyo magnitude is more realistic, like thing that could actually happen .Anyway, both stories are great.Totally worth it !!

both stories about siblings brother and sister survived an earth quick

Both are about children experiencing loss and survival after a massive earthquake. While Tokyo Magnitude is a hypothetical disaster, Chikyuu ga ugoita hi (The Day the Earth Moved) is about children who survived the great hanshin earthquake that happened in Kobe in 1995. The art may be ancient, but it was still very touching.

Although these two animes are very different on surface, both protagonists are on a journey with a somewhat similar ending.

Both had a girl trying to reach a person through an apocalypse with the help of someone they've met.

If you want another anime that take place in the real world, try this. Although very different in terms of theme, both stories delicately touch your heart.

These both anime is very tear-jerking and really show the point that "family is important." For Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 is about a siblings that start to realise how important their family was when they experienced a big earthquake in that time. On the other hand, Clannad is more focus on romance and family by the hero and his relationship with his father is bad. I think these animes is the right answer if you want to watch anime about family.

The city of setting are both destroyed by a massive earthquake and everything and everywhere are wrecked.

Coping after a natural disaster event. Both seem quite straightforward on the surface but take the time to explore complex interpersonal relationships and have mature themes.

As with Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 the story is character driven and about deep issues that make you think. You'll re-watch this many times to pick up subtle clues to the main story. Also with no main villian t fight the story is about self reflection as we watch this coming of age story with a slight magic theme. but trust me only the situation is magic everything else is about the rakka and reike as they try to resolve many questions about themselve and how they came to be here.

Both series start with Tokyo being destroyed by a huge Earthquake, only in Deadman Wonderland events start 10 years after the earthquake. Although DW is based mostly in the supernatural element, both shows eminate the same atmosphere and emotions of panic, despair and then hope and friendship. They both are about people who are trying to survive and make their way through extremely hard and unexpected times. Also in both shows there are two kids, a boy and a girl, as protagonists, sharing a strong relationship, and where each one is trying to protect the other. In both series, very important role plays the human factor. So  read more

They both have the same relationship of two brothers/ sister. to have to take care of your cute little brother has always a price since you are older and he is younger.

Although different in many ways, they give off the same feelings. If you like one you will like the other.

Do you love disaster movies? Have you been looking for more anime version of this film genre? Both anime follow a group of children and adult as they try to find safety after a disaster. The Orbital Children can be described as space disaster meets speculative fiction, which creates something new in this genre. Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 is a traditional disaster story told very well. Give it a shot and you might enjoy it.

Both take a look at large scale disasters and how people survive not only physically but mentally as well. It sees struggles from an individuals point of view making it much more heart felt.
report Recommended by mai_mai_
Both anime fall under apocalyptic fiction and contain depressing, touching, and mature subject matter. Tokyo Magnitude is portrayed much more realistically while Now and Then, Here and There is fantasy; however, if one of them gripped your heart, you will most likely feel touched by the other.

These stories are both wirtten for historical purposes, and hit on the human element of tragity. They also both explore the will to live, and the generation problems of survival.

Similarities: - Both series takes place in Tokyo - Realistic environment - Involves a girl, who wishes that everyone dissapear - Psychological setting - A little bit of school theme element - Gloomy story telling - Both series are unique and counted as a "disaster genre" due to the building destructions, ruins and people panicking Differences: - Both series has different story and character approach: ZnT --> Main charachters are the antagonists TM 8.0 --> Main charachter is the protagonist - ZnT is purposely destruction of Tokyo - TM 8.0 is catastrophic destruction of Tokyo Rec: Both series reminds of each other due to the realistic environment and the "disaster-feeling", which you get from watching movies etc. that are closely  read more
