Recommendations

Both shows have the main protagonist looping and time travelling by dying as well as trying out different choices to prevent things from happening in the new timeline, the only difference being as far as I know is the way their checkpoints or save points work when they loop.

Loop. Mystery. Survival. Horror.

Mystery. Struggle. Grief. Some gore. As a fan of Steins Gate, I was pleasantly surprised with Summertime and I found the shows comparable!

Both have time travel story line Both are not afraid to give you a bit of blood and gore Both MC are majorly trying to save a girl

Summertime Render has the same small village type atmosphere that Shiki has. Odd things keep happening, quite literally, in the shadows. People get replaced with a superior version of themselves and the main protags need to fight off the intruders. It's similar in the aspect that the reader has the awesome foresight to know what's happening already while the actual characters gradually put the pieces together as the chapters continue on

- Both anime are about time travelling - Both mc Takemichi and Shinpei have almost the same mission

- Both are very suspenseful and have horror elements - Shadows play a large part in the plot - Doppelgangers is a major theme - Both are very bingeable

- Deals with time jumping with an element of photography/capturing images that is central to both stories - Suspenseful thrillers where the mystery unfolds slowly - Both have really cute ikemen as the MC - Bingeworthy and will make you tear up

Both are dark unfolding mysteries with groups of childhood friends on dangerous journeys to uncover the truths behind the losses of their loved ones. Both stories are very tragic and anime give very similar vibes. Summertime is a bit more actiony whereas Shinsekai is more psychologically heavy. Both are excellent suspense / thrillers.

Both story deal with unknown creatures that can turn into human or even your loved one

Both feature swampman

Deals with similar themes of depression, grief and trauma surrounding the loss of a loved one. At its core it is the same story (a group of friends dealing with the loss of a childhood friend and reconnecting) but less graphic with the violence and a different sort of paranormal twist.

Both anime utilizes time travel to alter the outcome in their stories.

Both have a supernatural setting. The fights between human and shadows in Summertime Render are very similar to the fights in Kokkoku.

Small detached community, misterious events, unexplained murders, and time loops are similar traits in both shows. However, I think Summertime Render has better pace and production value.

-Very similar atmosphere. -Battle for survival -In later stage fluid change from fantasy thriller/mystery DBZ-esque horror -In both series protagonist fights against much stronger threat -Romance important to whole plot -Female leads are peculiar

- Time jumping is a big element - Thriller and mystery - Both have pretty great animation - Vivy is more scifi based whereas SR is more supernatural - Main protag is tasked with changing outcome of events

Both series pulls you in with their mystery and a little bit of action, led by interesting duo who works together with great chemistry. Although the setting are different, with Tengoku Daimakyou sets in a post-apocalyptic world, and Summertime Render sets in a small island - both settings give that tranquil vibe, coupled by the mystery that gives somekind of uneasy feeling that are reminiscent of each other. I think the mystery alone gives the other a worthy show to try if you like the other.

Both are about supernatural entities and have a similar dynamic between the main character's memory and the plot of the show. Additionally, they have similar stylistic design in their characters. Summertime render is better tho.

Summertime Render builds a great mysterious condition and brings out an excellent plot with full of suspense and excellent action just like Re:Zero.

I get a similar vibe from this show. Both are focused on a murder mystery, but summertime renderer additionally has a more open setting, time loops and more gore

Both Kanata no Astra and Summertime Render have thriller and suspenseful vibes. Based on mysteries, they both can be a series you'd like to binge watch.

Has similar supernatural powers and overall great cast

These shows involve the main character taveling through time to save a girl he loves. Both shows also have creepy overtones involving strange creatures.

both time-looping animes but different in their own ways
report Recommended by A1Enigma
Both shows have a mystery vibe to it and interact with the supernatural. Summertime Render has a more countryside setting whereas Durarara is more urban. The supernatural of each anime is conveyed and explored in different ways but they both offer great suspense and drama with a well-written plot-line with very likable characters. P.S excellent set of songs for both!

both of the main characters' friends kill "themselves" and they try and figure it out with other friends, as well as both animes having a concept of different realities and non human being that looks human being the main villain. And both main characters have mismatching coloured eyes.

Althought the themes of the shows are different, I find that they both have that same style of suspense that makes you want to watch episode after episode as fast as you possibly can. The mysteries of what happened to Ushio in Summertime Rendering and Akira's past in Higashi no Eden grab you and don't let go. Also, lots of gratuitous nudity and a smart (even though Akira doesn't look it) guy with long-ish black hair as main character.

Both of these series feature Time Travel and are set in summertime. Tatami Time Machine Blues is even based on a movie called Summer Time Machine Blues making the titles similar. Both series also feature light romance elements.

Both have an eerie atmosphere with a mix of sci-fi / glitch and rural supernatural mystery.
report Recommended by WeiWeiWei
Ushio and Nino are scarily similar in terms of character design. Long blonde hair parted down the middle, blue eyes, dressed in a school swimsuit. Supernatural oddballs, romantic interests.
report Recommended by PlzAllow
Both anime are about - main boy spawning on an island over and over to save it - searching for the main heorine

If you liked The Lost Village or were disappointed but still liked the theme/plot/story then don't worry you have a great alternative to watch the better version of it which is Summertime rendering. Summertime Render explores themes of trauma, identity, and the supernatural. If you’re looking for a similar blend of mystery, suspense, and rural Japanese setting, Summertime Render is a good recommendation.

similiar feeling when watching it. if you like one, you'll like the other. although sonny boy has got that more otherworldly feeling to it

A mildly reminder that this rec actually contain a very subtle obvious spoiler: So whats make this two similar? Summer Time loop Playing in the water Supernatural event Watch each, and you will get the vibe i mentioned above. Even if its not very well same in the grand concept of both series stories.

The same studio made these, two excellent mystery anime with suspenseful elements. Both have a likeable cast and excellent animation.

While at the beginning there's a large focus on mystery, the latter part of Summertime Render has a greater focus on action. Both the villain and the final fight share similarities (MC goes to a parallel world where the other creatures are to defeat a villain whose motives are similar and to save their beloved one).

Something you wouldn't notice until you've reached a certain episode in Summertime Rendering is that it's got a great sense of action during fights, and like Jojo, doesn't hesitate to explain every single circumstance regarding its system which could often lead to over-exposition but not like the level of apparently unrelated dialogue the latter reaches ("apparently" because while the anecdote seems very random it comes to play with the themes of the fights). Sometimes the enemy and heroes are evenly matched because of the amount of information they gather with each loop or during a battle, but they always look for that opening/flaw (The "event  read more
