The music, the characters, the atmosphere, and even their uniform reminds me of Aria.

Both of these shows are very calm. They have soothing music, beautiful sceneries, and slightly quirky characters. Also, both take place in rather rural areas. Both could be classified as "healing" anime and they're perfect to watch when you just want to unwind and calm down, and the occasional (but more common in Amanchu) silly and goofy gags are sure to put a smile on your face after a long and tiring day.

The atmosphere is the first thing that comes to mind when comparing these two. They both focus on specific hobbies (scuba and photography) and manage to tell quite a few deep and emotionally resonant stories around these hobbies. Good slice of life all around. If you want slow but intentional character building, some light drama, some comedy, and most of all a relaxing mood, then give one a try.

Yuru Camp and Amanchu! are both relaxing slice of life series about the outdoors with Yuru Camp focusing on camping and Amanchu! focusing on scuba diving. Both also include a dynamic between a rather laid back girl becoming friends with a much more energetic/silly girl.

As a diver, 18 meters under the sea surface is one of the least likely places for me to encounter otaku. Grand Blue and Amanchu are the two anime about diving, except that they really aren't about diving. Both are mostly comedy/SoL anime with a few diving episodes; GB focuses more on the comedy aspect while Amanchu focuses on the SoL aspect; and I can tell you that both are top anime in their respective genres so I can really recommend you to watch them. So still it's one of the best ways for hikkikomori to discover the beauty of 18 meters under the sea  read more

The greatest aspect of their similarities lies in the light summer theme they share. Refreshing, breezy series revolving around water one way or another with personal relationships at the center; a perfect combination for a relaxing time. While Tsuritama is a bit on the sci-fi genre with a few supernatural phenomena, they both include a friendship between a socially awkward person and an extremely energetic, albeit difficult to understand at times, one and how they affect each other. Simple comedy that relies on the characters' interactions on an everyday basis and when it comes to it, a story about growing up and discovering your potential. As  read more

Wholesome daily life anime about (mainly) cute girls and their water-related activities. Both by the same author.

Cheerful and quirky heroine; group of highschoolers being into water sports; likable design, colorful, comedy

For me, since both one of the main characters feels depressed, it adding the same vibe. The theme of aquamarine life also appears in both anime which is a plus value that both are identical.

School life anime about friendship. It is not as random and nonsensical as this one, but they have the same feelings about school life.

Fune wo Amu and Amanchu! are very peaceful and relaxing slice of life anime about a group of people working towards their respective goal (Scuba-diving in Amanchu and making a dictionary in Fune wo Amu). If you need to watch something after a very stressful day, then this is for you.

Amanchu! and B.B Fish are relaxing anime about diving and the ocean.

The atmosphere and characters are very similar, and they are both directed by Kenichi Kasai. Hikari and Futaba strongly resemble Akira and Fumi respectively in both appearance and personality. Both shows have a school setting, deal with a club, and have strong yuri vibes. A difference is that Amanchu! has much more comedy.

A special burden to attains your future awaits had taken forever as you manage to fulfill even bigger amount of refreshing but also soothening scenario that will test your routine Gags are pretty less similar and can be a lot more mesmerizing in such every tone

Two anime about a group of teenagers who are part of a club about a sport that have to do with water. (Diving for Amanchu, swimming for Free) Their characters have unusual personalities and they're both about finding your way to become happy or even "free".

Both are related to the sea and the pleasant things we can do with it. Houkago Teibou Nisshi is more about fishing from the shore and Amanchu about diving among the fish, but both show the beauty of the marine world and respect for them. Also the two main heroines (both arrived in a new place) overcome their fears to enjoy their new hobby (with their new friends).

feel good series about a total beginner, who decides to learn a water sport with the help of their newly found friend.

Pikari is very similar to Torako. Loud, bombastic, tends to stick out in every way possible. Both Futuba and Ayumi are exposed and at the mercy of the unpredictability of Pikari/Torako. Setting is fairly similar too, with the new girl transferring to school and getting caught up in the "crazy" girls antics. Amanchu is a lot more pleasant compared to Hyakko's constant gags but both are great SoL comedies.

Both are great slice of life anime and give a good time to chill out

These shows are very different in tone, but a major aspect they share is a main character with severe social anxiety and isolation that encounters a person who changes their life and helps them break out of their shell. They inspire me to try to do the same.

Hitori (Bocchi the Rock!) and Futaba (Amanchu) are socially introverted individuals who lack any self-confidence, but aspire to break out of their isolation. By luck, they encounter someone who drags them to something new. Hitori has deep social anxiety to the point of living with self-deprecation as a coping mechanism. Futaba is simply a shy and nervous girl who is tired of being lonely. Bocchi the Rock! is the more engaging anime because Hitori will knowingly self-sabotage herself whereas Futaba is a good girl who works hard to change herself. Anyone who felt loneliness or personal inadequacy will relate to them.

Come for the school bands (Hibike) and the diving activities (Amanchu), stay for the yuri between the two main protagonists.

They both have very similar flow-y animation along with the similarity of being by the ocean. Both anime's have cute bubbly characters and a strong friendship vibe. There's also a similar aura/atmosphere between both that's light heart-ed and cute.

I you want a laid-back, light humor story like Yuru camp, Amanchu would be a good try next! The art and animation is beautiful and they're both such peaceful animes to warm your heart. The levels of cute is too similar.

Amanchu and Long Riders share a similar scenario/plot and characters. In each our main character is learning something new and trying a new sport/hobby. Amanchu has diving and Long Riders is about cycling, the main character of each show is very new or never tried the new sport and has a friend to teach them everything there is to know while making new friends along the way. If you enjoyed the relaxed slice of life vibe from either show I would recommend the other.

Both have the same kind of music, water theme, clothing, and characters. The overall light-hearted, carefree mood of the show, that you can just relax to, is also similar.

A healing slice-of-life anime with cute characters and interpersonal relationships.

Slice of life's that are relaxing to watch and go abouts on a mellow way of life. Aside from what normally happens in their shows, they have beautiful and magical moments in their worlds too. Their OSTs are relaxing but they do share the use of GONTITI, in the entirety of Amanchu! and the 1st OVA of YKK. I like to lump YKK, Aria, and Amanchu! together due to similarities in its nature of feel but in its use of composers for their OSTs too.

Relaxing slice of life animes that kind of make you feel good inside as the story progresses.

These shows have very similar protagonists who are shy and avoid insurrections with others. These shows are very relaxing.

An enthusiastic and energetic girl helps a timid protagonist come out of her shell and most the make of her school life by joining/starting a school club. The main difference is that Hanayamata is about yasokoi dancing, while Amanchu is about scuba diving, but the shows feel very similar.
