Hitori (Bocchi the Rock!) and Futaba (Amanchu) are socially introverted individuals who lack any self-confidence, but aspire to break out of their isolation. By luck, they encounter someone who drags them to something new. Hitori has deep social anxiety to the point of living with self-deprecation as a coping mechanism. Futaba is simply a shy and nervous girl who is tired of being lonely. Bocchi the Rock! is the more engaging anime because Hitori will knowingly self-sabotage herself whereas Futaba is a good girl who works hard to change herself. Anyone who felt loneliness or personal inadequacy will relate to them.
